I don't know how to live

We hear the deep ache in your words when you say you do not know how to live and we join with you in bringing this burden before the Lord together in Jesus name. Feeling lost and weary and longing for what has been withheld or taken from your heart is a heavy place to be, but you are not alone and you are not forgotten by God.

The Lord sees your brokenness and draws near to it. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 46:1 says God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. And Jesus himself invites you in Matthew 11:28, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. True life is not found in our own strength or understanding but in Him. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus and we want to gently share why that matters so much. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not yet put your trust in Him, we encourage you to confess that you are a sinner in need of forgiveness, believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose again, and call upon His name to save you. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. This is the beginning of learning how to truly live, because life itself is found in Christ.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we lift up this dear one to You who feels unable to go on and unsure how to live. We ask in the name of Jesus that You reveal Yourself as near, as refuge, and as hope. Pour out Your peace that passes understanding and quiet the turmoil inside. Show this heart that You have a purpose and a future, for Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Isaiah 41:10 says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Help this one to turn fully to Jesus, to find rest in Him, and to learn to live day by day by Your grace and Word. Surround this dear one with godly counsel, with a local church family, and with trusted believers who can walk alongside and give support. If there are thoughts of despair or of not wanting to live, we ask You to protect this life that You created and love, and to bring immediate help and comfort. Lead toward healing for the longing that was redacted in the request, and align every desire with Your perfect will. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

We encourage you to stay close to God through His Word, through daily prayer in Jesus name, and through fellowship with other believers. We encourage you to reach out right away to a pastor, a mature Christian friend, or a trusted counselor and let them know how deeply you are struggling so you do not carry this alone. God has not abandoned you and He can teach you how to live as you abide in Him. Keep seeking Him and keep asking for His help, for He is faithful.

We are so grateful you reached out, even with just a few words. Feeling like you don't know how to live is an incredibly heavy place to be, and we want you to know you are not alone as you face it.

We hear how exhausted and overwhelmed you must feel. Wanting an end to the pain makes sense when life feels unbearable, and it matters that you reached out instead of carrying this by yourself. You are seen and valued, both by us and by God who loves you deeply.

When you can, please reach out today to one person you trust, a pastor, counselor, or medical professional, alongside prayer. Father, we lift this friend to You right now. You see their pain and weariness when words run out. Please surround them with Your presence, bring caring help close today, and give strength for the next step. Lead them toward support, safety, and hope. In Jesus' name, amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

Your cry that you do not know how to live has been heard, and we do not turn away from it. To feel that life has lost its way and that hope has grown dim is a bitter and heavy trial, and many a soul has sat where you now sit, saying, I cannot see the path before me.

But hear this truth which God Himself declares, that despair is an unwarrantable thing and has no right over you. While you live, you may hope, and while you hope, you live. Your life lies in hope, and hope lies in Christ. To despair is to offer a high insult to God, for He has sent the Gospel as good news to sinners, and despair says it is no good news at all. The Lord Jesus Christ was sent on purpose to bind up the brokenhearted and to heal those who are wounded, to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to them that are bound. His hands were once nailed to the cross for you, His heart was pierced that your poor broken heart might find rest, and He affirms that He is alive, able to save to the uttermost those that come unto God by Him.

Remember this, that Judas despaired and was lost, while the very men who crucified Christ heard Peter preach and believed and lived. Great sinners who believe shall find mercy, but those who yield to despair shall find misery. Therefore do not be driven utterly to despair, and above all do not lay violent hands upon yourself, for that way has led many to the knife and to the halter and to a watery grave, and it is a leap into sure perdition. It cuts off the hope which God still holds out to you.

The Lord does not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men for nothing. There is a needs be in your heaviness, and there is a purpose in your life though it be hidden from you now. He did not make you without a purpose, and in all His dealings with you He has the same wise and gracious end to serve. He brings down to the grave that He may bring up, and what His soul desires, that He does. None of these things comes by chance, but everything comes according to the purpose of His own will, and that purpose is sure to be effected for your good and His glory. To suffer needlessly would be hard indeed, but to be held in His purpose, even through sorrow, is honorable and full of hope.

Your business, then, is to come to Christ, and to come to Christ now. Do not stop anywhere short of Him in mere feelings or experiences, for no soul ever comes to live through the life of Christ unless he has first been slain by the Law and then made alive by grace. Come as you are, weary and not knowing how to live, and cry with your whole heart, Give me Christ or else I die, and you shall not die but you shall have Christ and live. You may see the face of Christ and live by seeing it, though no man can see the face of God and live without the veil of His humanity. Seek Him not merely to hear about Him, but to have Him to be your own personal Christ, to come and live in your soul, to be your light and your life. Say, I will begin to live for God if He will give me spiritual life, I will cast off the works of darkness if He will give me spiritual light, I will lay myself at Jesus feet and cry, Save me, O Lord.

If you live, live unto Christ, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. He will give you what is right as you go into His vineyard. Do not remain alone in this darkness. Turn to the Lord in prayer even now, open His Word, go into His tabernacles to find the mercy seat, and speak without delay to a faithful minister or a trusted Christian friend who can watch with you and pray with you. If the burden presses heavily upon you, seek help from those nearest to you at once and let them stay beside you, for God often delivers by the hand of others.

We pray for you that the Lord who heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds would look upon you with compassion, that He would show you salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which you must be saved, and that He would reveal His gracious purpose for you and give you grace to live for His glory day by day. You are not forgotten. The great Shepherd came not to make an attempt to find His sheep, but to seek till He finds it, and He will not cease till He carries it home rejoicing.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honesty in saying you do not know how to live touches the heart, and it is right to bring that ache to God. The pain of wanting something deeply and feeling that life has no meaning without it is real, and God sees it.

Scripture teaches that true life is not simply continuing in the flesh, but Christ living in us. When we are joined to Him by faith, we die to sin and are raised to a new way of living. That is why the apostle could say, I am crucified with Christ, yet I live, and it is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me. To live in the flesh can still bear fruit, but only when it is lived by faith and in obedience to Him.

Do not despair, even if you feel far off or bound by strong desires. The enemy never despairs of our ruin, so we should not despair of our salvation. God is not like a man who reproaches us for how long we have been away. When we turn back to Him with a sincere heart, He does not remember the former things against us. He invites us to cleave to Him and to walk in His fear.

God has given us free will, and He works in us as we choose what is right. Every act of obedience makes the next step easier. If you give, you are more inclined to give again. If you practice restraint for one day, you find strength for the next. If you indulge what is wrong, the desire grows stronger and leads to a deeper hardness. So begin with small, faithful steps. Turn from what God calls sin, not because you have strength on your own, but because He will help you as you choose Him.

Vice is like darkness and death. It promises life but leaves the soul dry and without motion toward what is good. Virtue, even when it feels hard at first, brings sweetness and friendship with God, and it leads to the resurrection and life that Christ has promised. He has said that all will be raised, but those who eat His flesh and dwell in Him will share in a glorious resurrection with reward, while those who remain in sin will face His judgment. That truth is meant to draw us to seek His mercy now.

I do not know what the unfinished longing in your request refers to, but whatever you feel you cannot live without, bring it honestly before the Lord and ask Him to shape your desires according to His will. God alone saves through Jesus Christ, and His design for love and for our bodies is holy. Marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and sexual intimacy and living together belong only within that covenant. God will not bless what goes against His word, but He will bless a heart that repents and seeks to live in purity and faith.

So my prayer for you is not that God would grant every wish, but that He would give you new life. I pray that He would forgive your sins through the blood of Christ, fill you with His Spirit, teach you how to die to what is sinful and to live to what is good, and show you that to live is Christ. I pray He would give you hope, surround you with wise and caring believers who can walk with you, and help you day by day to choose the things that please Him.

If you can, open the Scriptures, pray daily even with few words, turn away from what tempts you, and seek the help of a faithful pastor or mature Christians near you. God is able to make you alive in a way you have not yet known, and He is willing to do so when you come to Him in repentance and faith.
