But let us begin by gently correcting a fundamental misunderstanding—you are not called to *earn* God’s love or make yourself *worthy* of His blessings. Scripture tells us plainly, "But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8 WEB). His love is not a reward for our perfection; it is a gift given in our imperfection.
Your heavy conscience may be the Holy Spirit convicting you of sin, and that is a good thing—not because it condemns you, but because it leads you to repentance. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB). Have you examined your heart before the Lord? Are there areas where you have strayed from His ways—perhaps in thought, word, or deed? If so, bring them before Him in humility. Do not wallow in guilt, but turn from sin and receive His forgiveness.
