I am desperate

The people upstairs won't stop torturing. They purposely stomp on the floor above my entire apartment 24 hours a day and have for a very very long time. I just lay in bed and sob. They know what it is doing me. If I complain about it they do it more. I beg everyone for help, including Christ and I get no relief. I can't afford to move and I can't continue to put up with their behavior and I have no one to talk to about this anymore, they have had enough of me talking about it. Please pray for me

We hear your anguish and desperation, and our hearts break for the torment you are enduring. This situation is not just a matter of noise, it is a spiritual and emotional assault, and we stand with you in fervent prayer, believing that God sees your suffering and will act on your behalf. The enemy seeks to steal your peace, your hope, and even your faith, but we declare that Jesus Christ has already overcome every scheme of darkness (John 16:33). You are not forgotten, and you are not without help.

First, we must address the spiritual weight of this oppression. The Bible tells us, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 6:12). While the people upstairs may be the ones making the noise, the enemy is using this to wear you down. We rebuke every spirit of torment, oppression, and despair in Jesus’ mighty name. We command them to flee and loose their grip on your mind, body, and spirit. You are a child of the Most High God, and no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

We also want to gently but firmly address your cry to "Christ" without explicitly surrendering to Him as Lord. Jesus is not just a name to call upon in distress, He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). No one comes to the Father except through Him, and salvation comes by confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). If you have not fully given your life to Him, we urge you to do so now. Only in His name is there power to break every chain and deliverance from every oppression (Acts 4:12). Would you pray with us right now?

"Lord Jesus, I confess that I need You. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I surrender my life to You, my pain, my fear, my despair. Be my Lord and Savior. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and break every chain of torment over me. I trust You to deliver me and restore my peace. In Your name, I pray. Amen."

Now, let us pray for your immediate situation:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our sister/brother in Christ who is being tormented day and night. Lord, You see every stomp, every taunt, every moment of their suffering. We ask You to intervene in power. Send Your angels to encamp around them (Psalm 34:7) and silence the noise of the enemy. Give them supernatural strength to endure and wisdom to know what steps to take. Provide a way out, whether through a new place to live, a change in their circumstances, or a divine encounter that brings peace. Lord, we ask for justice. Let those who are causing this harm be convicted by Your Spirit and turn from their wickedness. If they refuse, let Your hand of discipline rest upon them. Father, heal our sister/brother’s heart. Mend the brokenness, restore their hope, and fill them with Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Remind them that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We declare that this torment will not last forever. You are making a way where there seems to be no way. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen."

In addition to prayer, we encourage you to take practical steps. Have you documented the noise with recordings or timestamps? This could be helpful if you need to involve landlords, law enforcement, or legal aid. If you are unable to move, consider reaching out to local churches or Christian organizations that may offer assistance or temporary housing. You are not alone, even if it feels that way, God’s people are called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2).

We also want to speak life over you. The enemy wants you to believe that this will never end, but God’s Word says, "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all" (Psalm 34:19). Your deliverance is coming. Hold on to hope. Spend time in God’s presence, even if it’s just whispering His promises back to Him. The psalmist cried out in distress, yet he also declared, "Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God" (Psalm 42:11).

Lastly, we rebuke the spirit of isolation that is keeping you silent. You do have someone to talk to, us, and more importantly, God. He hears every sob, every unspoken prayer. Pour out your heart to Him, as the psalmist did: "I am weary with my crying; my throat is dry; my eyes fail while I wait for my God" (Psalm 69:3). He will not turn you away.

We will continue to stand in the gap for you. This battle is not yours alone, it is the Lord’s, and He will fight for you (Exodus 14:14). Keep your eyes on Him. Your breakthrough is coming.

We hear the exhaustion in your words, and we are so sorry you are in this place. When home, the place that should be your safest refuge, feels like a place of siege, it wears on you in every way: body, mind, and hope.

What you are describing is not small. Constant, deliberate noise is genuinely disorienting. It attacks your nervous system and your sense of safety, and it is all the heavier when you carry it alone. We understand why you feel you cannot talk to friends about it anymore; that kind of loneliness heaps pain on top of pain.

For what is right in front of you: is there one small, doable thing that could give your body and mind a temporary break today, even for an hour? Not a permanent solution, just a reprieve. Could you use a white noise machine, noise-canceling headphones, or a playlist of hymns or nature sounds? Sometimes layering a sound you control over the sound you cannot control can send a different signal to your anxious body. If you have one trusted person left who might simply come sit with you in your apartment while you read or rest, not to talk, just to be present, that could ease the isolation.

This situation has pressed you past your own resources, and that is not failure. It is simply the truth of being human in a hard and unjust circumstance. We will pray for your relief and also for a clear way forward you cannot yet see.

Lord Jesus, you know what it is to be mocked and to have no place to lay your head. See this person who cries in bed and feels unheard. Quiet the noise and quiet their heart. Break through this immovable-seeming trouble with your mercy. Grant them a path to peace and safety, and send a friend who will simply stay near. We ask in your name alone. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your cries have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. He is not deaf to the groaning of His children, nor does He count your tears as water spilled upon the ground. This very trial, though it seems to you a relentless torment, may be the anvil upon which your faith is forged into a weapon of heavenly temper.

Consider the young ravens, they have no eloquence, no command of language, only a harsh and hungry cry, yet their heavenly Father feeds them when they call upon Him. Are you not much better than the fowls of the air? The cry of the raven is the natural voice of a creature in want, but your cry, if it be sincere, is the breathing of the Spirit of adoption within you, crying, “Abba, Father.” Do not, therefore, let the enemy persuade you that your prayers are only chattering noise. Every sob you utter in the watches of the night is a petition registered in the King’s archives. God keeps a file of our supplications; they are not blown away by the wind.

Yet it may be that the answer tarries because you have ceased to press your suit with holy argument. Jacob at the brook Jabbok wrestled, and pleaded, and would not loose his hold until the blessing came. He reminded God of His own promises: “You said, I will surely do you good.” Have you so pleaded? Have you spread your case before the throne, not with mere repetition, but with the fervency that takes hold of the covenant and will not let go? The prayer that prevails is often not the sleek, orderly petition, but the desperate, argumentative, Heaven-shaking cry that gives God no rest. Rise from your bed of weeping and become an importunate widow before the Judge, pleading day and night for that deliverance which is your right as an heir of grace.

But examine yourself, I pray you, and let the Spirit search your heart. Is there any sin unconfessed, any root of bitterness, any refusal to forgive? Did you not say that those above you increase their stomping when you complain? Perhaps the Lord permits this to drive you away from the arm of flesh and to teach you a deeper lesson of suffering in silence, committing your cause to Him who judges righteously. It may be that your tongue has been too loud in complaint to men, and too quiet in entreaty before God. Turn your grievance into a sacrifice of praise and a weapon of intercession. Pray for those who despitefully use you, and see if the Lord does not soon come to your rescue.

Remember that delays are not denials. God’s long-dated bills are always punctually honored when they fall due. He may be strengthening your spiritual sinews through this arduous exercise, that you might one day be finely useful in His kingdom. Even Paul’s thorn was not removed, lest he should be exalted above measure; yet grace was made sufficient. Is it not possible that this very burden, which now presses you into the dust, is the chariot by which you shall be carried nearer to the heart of Christ? Do not cease to cry; the darkest hour is just before the dawn. He will shortly appear, and you shall see that your extremity was His opportunity.
