Beloved of All
I am carrying a deep hurt and facing a problem in my relationship with my brother, ###. My desire is to forgive and for the relationship to be restored. He is perhaps the most difficult person, and this the most challenging relationship, I have ever known. Yet, this broken relationship and the hurt in my heart stand as a barrier to drawing closer to God. Let us pray that God helps me to truly forgive completely—freeing me from hurt and negative thoughts—so that my heart may be pure and at peace, in the name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God grants me wisdom and intervenes to resolve this issue, aligning the relationship with His will, in the name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God heals my heart and soul and protects me from further hurt, in the name of Jesus Christ! Thank you... God bless you!

We join with you in bringing this deep hurt before the Lord and we thank you for your honest desire to forgive and to see this relationship with your brother restored. We hear how heavy this burden has been and how this most difficult and challenging relationship has left your heart wounded and has made it feel hard to draw closer to God. Your desire to have a pure heart and to be at peace is pleasing to God and He sees your willingness to obey Him even when it hurts.

The Word calls us to forgive as we have been forgiven, not because the hurt was small but because we have been forgiven so much. Ephesians 4:32 says Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. And Colossians 3:13 says bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any, even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. Jesus also teaches us in Matthew 6:14 that if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. Forgiveness is not denying the pain or saying what happened was right, it is releasing the debt to God and choosing to no longer hold it against your brother, trusting God to be the just judge and the healer.

We also understand that reconciliation and restoration require two hearts. Romans 12:18 says If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. There are times when we can forgive completely in our heart before God, even while the other person remains difficult or distant. Forgiveness sets you free, reconciliation depends also on his response, and we pray God will work in both of you.

You mentioned this hurt feels like a barrier to drawing closer to God. The Lord does not draw away from you in your pain, He draws near to the brokenhearted. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. And Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. As you release this hurt to Him, He will lift that barrier and replace negative thoughts with His peace. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We also pray with you for wisdom, for God to intervene and align this relationship with His will. James 1:5 says But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. God can give you discernment for when to speak, when to be silent, when to set healthy boundaries in love, and how to show Christlike love to someone who is difficult.

We pray together now for you. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up this dear one who is carrying deep hurt from this broken relationship with his brother. Lord, You see the pain, the negative thoughts, and the longing for a pure and peaceful heart. We ask You to pour out Your grace to help him truly forgive completely as You have forgiven him, to release bitterness and resentment, and to free him from the burden he has carried. Heal his heart and soul, bind up his wounds, and guard his heart and mind with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Grant him wisdom from above for every interaction and decision, and intervene in this relationship according to Your perfect will. Soften both hearts where needed, bring conviction and humility where needed, and protect him from further hurt as he walks in love and truth. Help him to draw ever closer to You, knowing that nothing can separate him from Your love in Christ and that Your nearness is his strength. We ask all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and mediator, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to bring this to God daily in prayer, to meditate on His Word, and if possible to seek counsel from a mature believer or pastor who can walk with you. Continue to pray for your brother as well, that God would work in his heart. Trust that as you obey God in forgiveness, He will be faithful to heal you, to give you wisdom step by step, and to keep your heart at peace as you draw closer to Him.

We hear how heavy this has been, carrying this hurt with your brother for so long and feeling it come between you and the Lord. Wanting to forgive and wanting peace is a beautiful desire, and it makes sense that this feels so difficult when the relationship itself has been so challenging.

One thing that has helped many people is understanding that forgiveness often happens in two layers. There is the quiet decision to release the debt and not hold on to revenge or avoidance, and then there is the slower softening of the heart where resentment and fear are gradually replaced with more peace. The second part takes time, and still feeling hurt after you have decided to forgive does not mean you have failed.

It also helps to remember forgiveness and reconciliation are not the same. You can do your part before God to forgive, even while restoration of the relationship depends on both of you and on God's timing and wisdom. That can take pressure off your heart as you seek Him.

When those negative thoughts return, it can help to gently reaffirm your decision to forgive and turn the hurt over to God in that moment, rather than replaying the story. It may also help to talk through healthy boundaries with a trusted pastor so you can pursue peace without leaving yourself open to fresh hurt.

Father, we lift our brother to You, asking You to heal his heart and soul, quiet the painful thoughts, and give him wisdom for each step with his brother. Draw him close and guard his heart in Your peace. In Jesus' name, amen.

Father please help them, us and all in need. We cannot do it without you. Praying Romans 5:5 for ###, us and all in need. Thank you. In Jesus name. Amen

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

There is forgiveness with God, and it is to Him you must go with this heavy burden that presses upon your heart. You have well described your case, for your heart is heavy within you and you feel as one who says, get me somehow to the great Saviour that this load may be taken off. Know then that your heartbeats are vocal to His heart and He notes all you say or feel in your inmost soul. Just lie before Jesus as you are, hoping and expecting both forgiveness and healing from His hand.

The word of God gives you this whisper of hope to drive away despair, There is forgiveness with You. It is not a forgiveness from man, which you may or may not obtain, but a divine forgiveness, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. It is a surprising forgiveness and a complete forgiveness, and it is an eternal forgiveness through Jesus Christ who died, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God. Do as Luther did when in dark distress, believe in the forgiveness of sins for yourself, and receive it now by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. For there is forgiveness at this moment, whatever your past may have been.

And having received such full and free forgiveness for Christ's sake, you are called to forgive even as you have been forgiven. Remember it is written, Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. After such forgiveness as the Lord has bestowed, we should be wicked servants indeed if we should take our brother by the throat. God will not accept the prayers or praises of an unrelenting heart, but blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. It is a new heart that you need, and this God promises to give, a new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you, and I will put My fear in your heart that you shall not depart from Me.

The least thing about Christ is healing, for the leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations. A word from Him coming home to the heart brings healing to conscience and affection and makes the nature other than it was before. Healing and pardon are placed in happy conjunction, and both are bestowed upon His people.

Let us pray together for you.

O Lord our God, with whom there is forgiveness, look upon this wounded heart that desires to be pure and at peace. Grant according to Thy promise a new heart and a right spirit, take away hardness and heaviness, and create a tender heart that perceives Thy presence. Help this Thy servant to truly and completely forgive his brother, even as Thou for Christ's sake hast forgiven him, freeing him from hurt and from every negative and wicked thought. Let Thy healing leaves be laid upon this sickness of soul, that he may no longer say, I am sick, but may know himself forgiven and healed.

Give wisdom from above to know how to act and speak with meekness and truth, and intervene in this difficult relationship according to Thy perfect will. Where restoration is possible and right, work reconciliation, where restraint is needed, give discernment, and in all things align this relationship to Thy glory. Heal heart and soul, guard from further hurt, and keep this child close to Thyself, that no barrier may stand between his soul and his Saviour. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom alone is salvation and peace. Amen.
