Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We have heard your burden and we join you in bringing it before the Lord in the name of Jesus Christ.
Your desire to forgive and to see this relationship with your brother restored is pleasing to God. The hurt you carry is real, and you are right to see that holding onto it becomes a barrier to drawing closer to God. Scripture calls us to forgive one another even as God in Christ forgave us, and to walk in love as beloved children who imitate their Father. This is not because the other person has earned it, but because we ourselves have been forgiven so much by God, though we had nothing to offer Him in return.
We pray with you that God will grant you grace to forgive completely, not with mere words but from the heart. May He free you from the weight of hurt and from negative thoughts that return, and give you a pure heart and peace that comes from Him. When we forgive, we do not pray against our brother or ask for harm to come to him, but we pray for him and for our own heart to be kept clean and tender, free from bitterness and the desire to repay. If we forgive, our Father also forgives us, and that forgiveness opens the way for us to come near to Him again.
We also pray that God will give you wisdom that is not of this world but from His Spirit, wisdom to know how to speak and act and when to be silent, and that He will intervene in this difficult relationship according to His will. God is able to work where we cannot, to soften hearts and to make a way for reconciliation where it seems impossible. We ask that He would heal your heart and soul, restore what has been wounded, and protect you from further hurt as you seek to do what is right before Him.
Continue to humble your soul before God, remembering your own need for His mercy, and keep entrusting both yourself and your brother to Him. He sees the pain, He hears your prayer, and He is faithful to help those who seek to obey Him.
May the Lord grant you peace, guard your heart in Christ Jesus, heal you, and lead this relationship toward what is good and in line with His will. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior, in whom we have forgiveness and hope. Amen.
