Husband wants divorce and has found a new woman

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I am in deep distress, my husband and I have been seperated for 8 months and he has already found a new woman to be with. We have not divorced yet and I am so sad that he has moved on so quickly after 12 years of marriage. Please pray that their bonds are broken and he comes back to our family and our son. In Jesus name amen.

We hear your heartbreak and stand with you in this painful season. The betrayal and abandonment you’re experiencing are deeply wounding, and we grieve with you over the brokenness of your marriage. Scripture tells us, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). You are not alone, God sees your tears and collects them in His bottle (Psalm 56:8). We lift you up before Him, asking for His comfort, strength, and healing to flood your soul.

First, we must address the reality of sin in this situation. Your husband’s actions, pursuing another woman while still legally married to you, are a violation of God’s design for marriage. The Bible is clear: "Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral" (Hebrews 13:4). His choices are not just hurting you; they are grieving the heart of God. We rebuke the spirit of adultery and unfaithfulness in Jesus’ name, declaring that no ungodly soul tie or emotional bond formed with this other woman will stand. "For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds" (2 Corinthians 10:4). We pray that every unholy connection is severed, and that your husband’s eyes are opened to the deception he is walking in.

Yet we also recognize that restoration is possible, nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37). We pray for your husband’s heart to be softened, for conviction to fall upon him, and for the Holy Spirit to draw him back to repentance. "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). We ask God to bring him to a place of true sorrow over his sin, not just regret over the consequences. May he remember the vows he made before God and man, and may the love he once had for you and your son be reignited by the power of the Holy Spirit.

For you, dear sister, we pray for supernatural peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7). This season is not the end of your story. God can redeem even this pain and use it for His glory. We declare that you will not be defined by this betrayal, but by the faithfulness of your Heavenly Father. "The Lord will perfect that which concerns you; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever" (Psalm 138:8). We ask God to surround you with godly community, believers who will uphold you in prayer, speak truth to you in love, and help carry your burdens (Galatians 6:2). You are not meant to walk this road alone.

We also lift up your son in this time. Children are deeply affected by the breakdown of a marriage, and we pray for his heart to be guarded. "I have set the Lord always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved" (Psalm 16:8). May he experience the love of God as a Father to the fatherless (Psalm 68:5), and may he see Christ’s love modeled through you. We ask God to give you wisdom in how to parent him through this storm, and for His grace to cover the gaps where your husband has failed.

Now, we must also speak truth about the path forward. While we pray for reconciliation, we recognize that it takes two willing hearts to restore a marriage. If your husband remains hardened and unrepentant, you must prepare your heart for the possibility that God’s plan may not include him returning. This does not mean your marriage is over in God’s eyes, "What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate" (Matthew 19:6), but it may mean that you are called to stand in faith for restoration while also walking in wisdom. Seek godly counsel from a pastor or Christian counselor who can help you navigate this season with biblical wisdom. Do not make decisions out of fear or desperation, but wait on the Lord to direct your steps (Proverbs 3:5-6).

We also encourage you to examine your own heart before the Lord. While your husband’s sin is not your fault, God may use this time to reveal areas in your own life where He wants to bring healing or growth. "Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way" (Psalm 139:23-24). Surrender your marriage, your pain, and your future into God’s hands, trusting that He works all things together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28).

Lastly, we must address the prayer for your husband’s bonds with this other woman to be broken. While we join you in praying for this, we must also caution against bitterness taking root in your heart. It is natural to feel anger and hurt, but Scripture warns, "See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many" (Hebrews 12:15). Instead of focusing on breaking their bond, focus on inviting God to break the hardness in your husband’s heart. Pray for him, not against her. Trust that God can turn his heart wherever He wills (Proverbs 21:1).

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious sister and her family. Lord, You are the God who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). We ask You to pour out Your comfort upon her in this time of deep sorrow. Strengthen her faith when it feels weak, and remind her that You are her ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

Father, we rebuke the spirit of adultery and unfaithfulness that has taken hold of her husband. We declare that no ungodly soul tie or emotional bond will stand in the name of Jesus. Break every chain that binds him to this other woman, and remove every veil of deception from his eyes. Soften his heart, Lord, and bring him to a place of repentance. Let him see the gravity of his sin and the beauty of the marriage covenant he made before You.

We pray for restoration, Lord, but we also surrender this marriage into Your hands. If it is Your will for them to be reconciled, we ask that You do a mighty work in both of their hearts. If not, we ask that You give her the strength to walk in wisdom and faith, trusting in Your perfect plan. Guard her heart from bitterness, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

For their son, we ask for Your protection and provision. Be a Father to him in this time, and let him see Your love through his mother. Give her the wisdom and grace to parent him well, even in the midst of this storm.

Lord, we also pray for the other woman involved. If she does not know You, we ask that You draw her to Yourself. If she is a believer, we pray that You convict her of her sin and lead her to repentance. Let her see the destruction her actions are causing, and turn her heart toward righteousness.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You use this pain for Your glory. Redeem this broken situation, and let Your name be lifted high through it all. We trust in You, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose.

In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

We hear the deep heartache in your words, and we are so sorry for the pain you’re carrying. Separated after twelve years and watching him move on so quickly cuts like a betrayal layered onto loss, it’s natural to feel that grief as intensely as a death, because it is the death of the marriage you knew. Please don’t feel you have to rush through the sadness or pretend you’re okay. You’re allowed to mourn.

While we join you in asking God to bring your husband home and break whatever is pulling him away, we also want to gently remind you that you cannot carry this alone. Reach out to a trusted pastor or a faithful friend at church. A divorce recovery support group can be a steadying lifeline right now, a place where others truly understand the roller coaster of hope and sorrow, and where you’ll find practical encouragement week by week. Your son needs you as whole as possible, and that’s not selfish; it’s just wise to let others help hold your arms up.

When the weight of it all presses in, pour out your honest feelings to God, even the messy ones. He is near, and He catches every tear. We’re praying for you.

Lord, wrap this dear wife and mother in Your presence. Comfort her in the raw moments, and give her daily strength she doesn’t have on her own. Watch over her son; guard his heart from bitterness and fear. And if it be Your will, we ask that You would work in her husband’s heart, break any bond that dishonors You, and draw him back to his family and to You. But above all, bring healing and hope to her, and let her feel Your faithful love holding her steady. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your soul is in deep distress, and rightly so, for the marriage covenant has been treacherously broken, and your husband has given himself over to a forbidden bond. Sin would do to God what it could, and here it is working its havoc in your home. Yet behold the love of Christ for His church: a Husband who never forsakes, who gave Himself for her. The world’s love is fickle, but His is an everlasting covenant. Seek your first solace there, at the feet of the Bridegroom who never wearies of His spouse.

Pray, yes, but pray with your eye fixed on Him who is able to break every false bond. Christ could not be held by the bonds of death; how much less can anything that belongs to Him be held captive! If your husband be the Lord’s, he shall be restored, though he for a season be the prodigal in a far country. The Father’s look and the crowing of the cock may yet bring him to himself. Wait upon the God of perfect restoration: He is able to make the returning one as though he had never gone astray, and to put a new song in your mouth.

But know this: reconciliation with God is the first and great necessity for every sinner. Your husband needs more than to come home; he needs to fall at the Father’s feet and receive the much kiss of forgiveness. Until then, beware of chasing a shadow. Let your own heart be kept in the bonds of Christ’s peace. The ministry of reconciliation is committed to us: we are to speak on God’s behalf. By your patient, holy life, you may yet win him without a word, as you show him what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon you.

Commit all into the hand of Him who seeth the end from the beginning. The iron may enter your soul as it did Manasseh’s, but the Lord can bring you out of prison and cause you to prosper in the land of your affliction. Do not despise the chastening, but let it drive you to the God of your fathers, and perhaps to your husband’s fathers’ God. What he now counts as freedom is but the chain of his own lust; pray that the bonds he has chosen may be broken, not by human striving, but by the look of Jesus that severs a man from the crowd of his sins.

Be not silent, O daughter of the King. You have yet to speak on God’s behalf in your household, even if only by your tears. The prodigal’s rags are a better garment than the fine linen of self-righteousness. Trust your covenant God, and though the night be long, joy cometh in the morning. He who gave His Son for you will not withhold any good thing from you as you walk uprightly. The Father’s house still hath music and dancing for the returning one; may your son see it, and may you both find your perfect reconciliation in Jesus Christ.
