Disciple of Prayer
Thank God my husband's echo lady weekend came back showing everything is normal. Today he got laid off from work. He is ###. This is a high expense year ftom us due do medical bills after my hip surgery, large drainage project in our backyard, our daughter's wedding and buying out lease on my car. I think he's most worried about losing health insurance for me since I have a lot of issues. God has lead us through this before. Please pray that my husband finds a perfect job quickly. In Jesus name we pray amen. Thank you

We hear your heart and stand with you in this season of uncertainty, yet we also rejoice with you in the good news of your husband’s health, praise God for His faithfulness in that! The weight of financial strain, medical concerns, and life’s unexpected burdens can feel overwhelming, but we serve a God who sees, provides, and sustains. Your trust in Him, even in this trial, is a testament to the faith He has cultivated in you.

First, we want to acknowledge the fear and anxiety that can creep in when stability feels shaken. The loss of a job, especially when coupled with mounting expenses, can make the future seem daunting. But Scripture reminds us, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7). We encourage you to hold fast to this promise, bringing every concern, big or small, to the Lord, who cares deeply for you and your family.

Your husband’s worry about health insurance is understandable, especially given your medical needs. Yet we serve a God who is Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord who provides. In Genesis 22:14, Abraham named the place where God provided a ram for sacrifice "The Lord Will Provide," and that truth still stands today. God knows your needs before you even ask (Matthew 6:8), and He is able to open doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). We pray that He would not only provide a new job for your husband but also make a way for your healthcare needs to be met in the interim.

We also lift up your daughter’s wedding and the other financial commitments before you. It is easy to feel pressure in seasons like this, but remember that God’s economy is not bound by worldly systems. He can multiply resources, soften hearts, and make a way where there seems to be no way. "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). We pray that He would stretch every dollar, provide unexpected blessings, and give you wisdom in stewarding what He has entrusted to you.

To your husband, we say this: Your worth is not defined by your employment status. You are a child of the King, created with purpose and dignity. The enemy may whisper lies of inadequacy or failure, but God’s Word declares that "the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world" (1 John 4:4). We rebuke the spirit of fear and discouragement that may be trying to take root in his heart. Instead, we pray that he would walk in confidence, knowing that God is his provider and that He has a plan for this season. May he find a job that not only meets your family’s needs but also aligns with his gifts and brings him fulfillment.

We also want to gently encourage you both to seek the Lord’s wisdom in this time. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." This may be an opportunity to evaluate priorities, cut unnecessary expenses, or even explore new avenues of income. God often uses seasons of pruning to prepare us for greater fruitfulness.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of trust, knowing that You are our Provider and Sustainer. Lord, we lift up this family to You, asking that You would open doors of opportunity for their husband and father. Provide a job that not only meets their financial needs but also aligns with Your purpose for their lives. We ask that You would remove any anxiety or fear, replacing it with Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding.

Father, we thank You for the good report of his health, and we ask that You would continue to watch over them, especially in light of the medical needs. Provide for their healthcare, Lord, and give them wisdom in navigating this season. We also pray for their daughter’s wedding and the other financial commitments before them. Multiply their resources, Lord, and let them see Your hand at work in every detail.

We rebuke the spirit of discouragement and declare that this family will not be shaken. You are their rock, their fortress, and their deliverer. We trust in Your timing and Your provision, knowing that You are faithful to complete the good work You have begun in them. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and let them be a testimony of Your goodness to those around them.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Lastly, we want to remind you that you are not alone in this. Lean on your church community, trusted friends, and family for support. God often provides through the hands and hearts of His people. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and remember that this season, though challenging, is not without purpose. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28). May He bless you abundantly as you walk this path with Him.

We thank God with you for the good report on your husband’s heart, what a relief that must have been in the middle of everything else. And then the layoff, right on the heels of it, hitting a year already heavy with medical bills, a major drainage project, a wedding, and the car lease. That’s a lot to carry all at once.

We’re especially mindful of his worry about losing health insurance given your own health needs. That fear makes complete sense. One small thing that can help ground that anxiety is simply knowing the facts: if he hasn’t already, he can ask his former employer about COBRA continuation coverage, or you both can look at your state’s health insurance marketplace together just to see what options exist. Getting clarity, even when the choices are imperfect, often takes the worst of the unknown off the table.

You said God has led you through this before, and we’re holding onto that track record with you. His provision may come in a way none of you expect, but He sees every detail. Your husband’s worth was never in his job; he is already fully loved and fully known, and this season doesn’t define him:

Father, You see this family and every weight they’re carrying. Thank You for the good news about his heart. We ask You now to open a door quickly for a new job, one that meets their practical needs and lets them breathe again. Guard their health in the gap, and cover them with peace that doesn’t depend on easy circumstances. Give them wisdom for each financial decision, and help them lean hard into You and the people who can walk this with them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth, yet the grey-headed saint also must learn that every season holds its own burden. You speak of high expenses and a sudden loss of wages, and the mind races to insurance and the needs of your own body. But what says the Scripture? Every man shall bear his own burden. Do not sit upon it, fretting and clamouring for immediate rescue, that were to thrust your burden upon others without taking theirs in exchange. Rather, lift it with the strength God supplies, and you shall find that even this heavy thing is made light.

You mention your husband is most troubled for your health and the loss of coverage. This is natural affection, yet I would have you both consider that God is the Husband of His people, and He will not cast off His own in their old age or their infirmity. I know a good man who lay eighteen years without moving, yet he was as happy as any I ever met. The Lord does not forget His servants when they grow feeble. Do you not see His faithfulness? He has led you through such straits before, and He will do so again. Your husband’s echo test returned normal, will not the same God who kept the heart keep the whole man?

You ask prayer for a perfect job quickly, and we join you in that petition. Yet the soul of the matter is not the swiftness of deliverance but the posture of the heart under the trial. I fear lest you put off the truth of God with a huff if He delays, supposing it not worth looking into. The far-off wise men hurried to find Christ, no matter the length of the journey. How much more should we who are near hasten to cast our burden upon Him whose yoke is easy and whose burden is light. Not life’s burden is light, but Christ’s burden, and you take His burden upon you when you bear this trial in sweet submission, learning of Him.

Consider the profit and loss. What if a man should gain a new post and all the gold in the world, and lose his own soul? The expense of unbelief is the loss of peace of mind. I pray you, do not espouse religion as a man puts on his coat to take it off again; let it be woven into the woof and warp of your being. Your husband has lost his employment, but he has not lost his God. You have the bridegroom of the church to provide for the wedding of your daughter, and He who fed Israel in the wilderness can manage a drainage project and a car lease.

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. You have borne the burden of your hip surgery; now bear the burden of your husband’s despondency by showing him a cheerful faith. And he must bear his own burden before the Lord, not comparing it to another’s, as though his lot were harder than all men’s. Go in the strength of God, and bring this trouble to your best Friend, the Friend that sticks closer than a brother. Tell Him the cause of your complaint, but then leave it there. He who was a Husband to Israel, communing with them lovingly, will not fail you now.

We will pray that the right door opens, but more that you both may stand at the foot of the Saviour’s cross, counting former gain but loss, and nailing your glory to His cross. For when Christ is all, a light burden is borne heavily if it be not shared with Him, and a heavy burden becomes light when His shoulder is underneath it.

Lord, we thank You that this husband's echo came back normal — a true blessing. But now we lift him up as he faces a sudden layoff at ###, with so many financial pressures weighing on him this year. We ask that You calm his anxious heart and remind him that You are our Provider, who supplies all our needs according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). We pray that You would open doors for a new job quickly, one that is perfect for him and that will cover every need, especially health insurance. You have led this family through difficult times before, and we trust that You will do it again. Give him peace and guide his steps. In Jesus' name, Amen.
