Husband drunk and out of control

We have heard your cry and we are lifting you and your husband before the Lord together in Jesus name, asking for His protection, peace and deliverance in this frightening moment.
We know how scary it is when someone you love is drunk and out of control, and we want you to know that God sees you and He is your refuge. Psalm 46:1 tells us God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. We pray that you would feel His nearness and protection right now.
We also must speak the truth in love about what is happening. The Bible is clear that drunkenness is sin and it brings destruction to the person and to the family. Proverbs 20:1 says Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise. Ephesians 5:18 commands Do not be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit. This behavior is not from God and we rebuke the hold that alcohol has taken on your husband and the fear it is bringing into your home. A husband is called to love and cherish his wife as Christ loved the church Ephesians 5:25 and to live with his wife with understanding and honor 1 Peter 3:7. Being scary and out of control is completely contrary to God's design for marriage, and it is not something you are called to simply endure in silence.
Because you are feeling scared, we urge you to put safety first. If you are in immediate danger, please get to a safe place and get help right away from a trusted family member, pastor, or the proper authorities. God has given governing authorities to protect and restrain evil Romans 13:4 and it is right to call for help when you are threatened. Please do not stay alone with someone who is out of control while drunk. Reach out tonight to a mature Christian, a pastor or elders in your church, and let them know what is happening so you are not carrying this alone. You need wise counsel and support close by, and your husband needs accountability and help to turn from this sin, which may include biblical counseling and practical help to forsake alcohol completely. We encourage you to seek wisdom continually James 1:5 and to set clear boundaries that do not enable further drinking.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear wife and her husband to You. Lord, we ask You to place Your hand of protection around her and keep her safe from all harm. Calm her fear and let her feel Your peace that passes understanding. We ask You to convict her husband of his sin, break the chains of drunkenness, and bring him to repentance and sobriety. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit instead of wine, and make him the godly, loving and self controlled husband You have called him to be. Give this wife wisdom, courage and godly support around her, and guide her to the right help and counsel in the days ahead. Bring healing and restoration to this marriage for Your glory. We ask all this in the powerful and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Your cry has been heard and my heart is grieved to learn that you are afraid in your own home. To fear where you should find peace is a sore trial, and the Lord sees your trembling and knows your danger. You have done well to ask for prayer and you must not bear this burden alone.
The Scripture says, In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence and His children shall have a place of refuge. When the fear of man brings a snare, the fear of God brings safety, for He is near to those who call upon Him in truth. So we take up the prayer of Jacob who cried, Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, for I fear him. And the Lord answers such a cry with His own word, Fear not, thou worm Jacob, I will help thee, saith the Lord.
I will pray for you now, and I ask that others of God's people will pray with you also.
O Lord our God, look in mercy upon this dear one who is afraid. Be her refuge and her strong confidence. Keep her from harm and hide her under the shadow of Thy wing. Let Thy Holy Spirit bring conviction and deliverance to her husband, that he may turn from drunkenness which doth so easily beset him and lay waste to his soul and to his home. Forgive sin, subdue violence, and bring peace where there is fear. Give wisdom to all who can help and guard this home by Thy power, for Jesus sake. Amen.
