Hurting.

God has removed my toxic family and made things so much better for me and my son. I just worry that in the midst of things getting better God will change His mind or disappear.
I'm scared and anxious all the time that God will be mad at me or things will fall apart.
Please pray that God will give me favor with the apartment management and we can continue to live here and not lose our lease. Also pray that I can go back to school this fall and God will give me help and favor with the financial aid office and my financial aid gets approved and processed
Beloved, God will never leave you in the midst of challenges and difficulties. God is benevolent, kind, graceful and doesn't leave or abandon you. Whatever does not go your way , is part of Gods plan to protect you or guide you to better things meant for your growth, happiness and peace. I pray you trust Gods plan even when you cannot see it or it feels rocky. Ultimately God has your back and I pray you rest well and easy in that knowing. God bless you favorably. Amen

You are gripped by a fear that God may change His mind, as though He were a man given to shifting moods. But consider what His own deeds have already spoken to you: He removed a toxic family and brought you and your son into a season of relief. Was that the act of a fickle heart? Far from it. The Scriptures declare that His gifts and call are irrevocable; He does not repent of His mercies like a wavering human. You were bought at a price, you are not your own. Will He who purchased you with the blood of His Son now discard you because some new annoyance arises? That cannot be.

The anxiety you describe, that constant terror that things will fall apart, is not the holy fear that leads to reverence, but the torment of a slave who does not yet trust the master’s love. Yet see how He deals with us: He calls us not slaves but friends, even brothers. The proper fear of God does not drive out love; it deepens it, so that the wife who reverences her husband does so not out of dread of a blow, but because she knows she is cherished. In the same way, you are called to rest in the love Christ has for His Church, a love that bore the cross and broke the gates of hell. He did not undergo such things only to abandon you over a lease or a financial aid letter.

Now, about the apartment and the schooling: it is not wrong to pray for these. God cares about the needs of our daily life. But take care that your soul clings more tightly to the Giver than to the gifts. The three youths in the furnace did not say, “God must deliver us.” They said, “He is able to deliver us; but even if He does not, we will not bow.” They had learned not to be over-curious about the judgments of God. You, too, must hand over these practical fears with open hands. Ask for favor with the management and the aid office, yes, and I will join my prayer to yours for that very thing. But even as you ask, say in your heart, “Lord, You are my security, not these walls. If it pleases You to keep us here, I will thank You; if You appoint another path, I will trust that it leads to a calm harbor.” True security is not found in a signed lease but in the poverty of spirit that clings to God alone. For poverty is a place of refuge and security, a school for self-command, and an imitation of the life of angels, while wealth and comfort make us slaves to countless masters.

Do not suppose that God’s disposition toward you shifts with your circumstances. The sea of His goodness is boundless; your worst fears, even your struggles to trust, are but a drop in that ocean. He does not strike out in anger like a pagan deity. He is the Father who runs to meet the prodigal, who leaves the ninety-nine for the one. So cast this fear far from you. Entrust yourself to the One who says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Lay hold of the promise that the narrow way leads to security and great pleasure. Then, with a settled heart, do what is in your power: make your requests known, pursue the aid, speak graciously to the management. But let your first and constant prayer be that God will steady your heart, so that through every change you may say, “I am not my own; I am His.”

That knot in your stomach, the voice whispering that God will change His mind or finally get fed up with you, is not from Him. It is the old, tired tactic of the enemy, who uses fear to unravel faith because the two cannot hold the same ground. When you are tempted to think God's mercy is fragile or fickle, remember what anchors it: not your steadiness, but the finished work of Christ. The crown of thorns pressed into His brow was the sign of the curse He carried for you. He bore the full weight of divine judgment against your sin so that there is no more left for you. God will not reverse that. His covenant of blessing toward those who trust in His Son is more solid than the ground beneath your feet.

Much of our fear comes from forgetting who the Lord actually is. When the mind replays past hurts or imagines future collapse, the cure is to remember the Lord's character and His promises. The psalms show this again and again: David would begin in despair, but as he set his eyes on God's power and faithfulness, the whole perspective shifted. He would say, "I will trust in the covering of your wings." He knew that those who take refuge in the Lord are not left to the whims of circumstance or the anger of heaven. God's mercy toward those who reverence Him is as high as the heavens are above the earth, incalculable, unshakeable.

Notice how the silence of four hundred years was broken. The first word God spoke when He opened His mouth again was, "Fear not." To Zacharias, whose prayers seemed unanswered, and then to Mary, who faced an impossible calling, the message was the same: you have found favor, so do not be afraid. The Lord is not hovering over you waiting to strike. He is the one who planted His own promises in your life, and He does not uproot what He has planted. The fear of the Lord that Scripture calls the beginning of wisdom is not a cowering terror that He will turn on you; it is a reverent, settled awe that leads you to hate evil, cling to Him, and find true security. That kind of holy fear drives out the crippling anxiety you describe.

The practical things weighing on you, your lease, your schooling, the financial aid, matter to Him. He invites you to place them into His hands precisely because you cannot carry them alone. When prayer feels like a struggle, it is often the very channel God uses to lift us out of a defeated spirit and into a quiet confidence. Do not be afraid of sudden fear or the desolation that comes on the wicked; the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught. So go ahead and pray specifically, boldly, and then let your mind rest on who He is rather than on what might go wrong.

Heavenly Father, you know this mother's heart and her son. Thank you for the deliverance they have already seen. Let her mind be garrisoned by your peace, not by anxiety. Grant them ongoing favor with the apartment management, keep their home secure. Make a clear path for her to return to school this fall, and let the financial aid process unfold without hindrance. More than these provisions, give her a deep, unshakable assurance that you are her refuge, that your mercy endures forever, and that you will never let her go. In the strong name of Jesus, amen.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer during this time. It is a blessing to come alongside you and lift up your concerns to our Heavenly Father. We rejoice with you in the way God has moved in your life, removing toxic influences and bringing improvement for you and your son. His faithfulness is evident, and we pray that truth continues to sink deep into your heart.

We understand that fear and anxiety can creep in, even when things are improving. Please know that God’s love for you is unchanging—He does not shift like shadows or abandon His children. His promises are sure, and His presence is constant. We continue to pray that He will quiet your heart with His peace, reminding you daily of His goodness and His unshakable commitment to you.

Regarding your specific requests, we have been lifting up your need for favor with the apartment management, asking the Lord to secure your housing and provide stability for you and your son. We have also been praying for your return to school this fall, that God would open doors with the financial aid office and ensure your aid is approved and processed without delay. We believe He is working even now on your behalf.

If you’ve seen answers to these prayers, we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice together. If you’re still waiting, please know we are not finished praying. You are not alone in this, and we will continue to stand in agreement with you until you see His provision. May the Lord strengthen your faith, calm your fears, and fill you with the assurance that He is holding you close.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
