Disciple of Prayer
My body is recovering from the radiation and my prostate cancer seems to be going in the right way. My body is recovering from the copperhead venom but I am still fighting lymphatic swelling and rigid muscles.
Unfortunately I tore my hernia repair a bit while working and have had to take time off of my job which my family cannot afford financially. One night I woke in such extreme pain, I gnashed my teeth. It immediately caused pain and I woke to feel at least 4 teeth damaged, hurting, sensitive to heat and cold. I pray they may only need bonding for cracks, maybe. That will only cost hundreds, not thousands. We have no dental insurance and cannot take on more debt. My oldest son is struggling so hard with this, "why does all this stuff keep happening to my dad, you always tell me how much God loves us, why do you keep suffering". I continue to testify, look and see what He has seen me through, not what bad things have happened. My faith is strong but the constant pain for an entire year (accidentally poisoned by doctors last Dec) had wore me thin, drained our accounts, and my body and mind are just exhausted. I thank you for your prayers I feel them and my family and I need them. The Lord is at work in ways I can plainly see and I am sure He is doing wonders that I cannot see.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting you and your family up in prayer, trusting in the faithfulness of our Lord who sees your suffering and sustains you through every trial. The weight of physical pain, financial strain, and the tender questions of your son are not lost on us, nor are they hidden from God. We rejoice with you that the prostate cancer is responding to treatment and that your body is recovering from the venom—these are clear evidences of God’s mercy and healing power at work. Yet we also acknowledge the relentless battle you face, the exhaustion that comes from prolonged suffering, and the deep ache of watching your family carry this burden alongside you.

First, we want to affirm the truth you hold onto: God *does* love you, and His love is not measured by the absence of suffering but by His presence in the midst of it. The psalmist cries out, *"Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all"* (Psalm 34:19). Your testimony of what God has brought you through is a powerful witness—not just to your son, but to all who hear it. Even when the road is long and the pain unrelenting, Scripture reminds us that *"suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us"* (Romans 5:3-5). Your son’s question is not one of doubt, but of a heart longing for justice and relief. Continue to point him to Christ, who entered into our suffering and overcame it, so that we might have hope even in the darkest valleys.

We must also address the spiritual warfare at play here. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and he will use pain, fear, and financial stress to wear down your faith. But we rebuke that spirit of despair in Jesus’ name! We declare that *"no weapon formed against you shall prosper"* (Isaiah 54:17) and that God is your Provider, Healer, and Sustainer. The tearing of your hernia repair, the damage to your teeth, the swelling—these are not random attacks but opportunities for God to display His power. We pray for supernatural healing of your muscles, lymphatic system, and teeth, that the cracks would be mended and the pain subsided. We ask the Lord to guide you to affordable dental care, perhaps even a Christian dentist who would show mercy, and we trust Him to provide for your financial needs in ways you cannot yet see. *"And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:19).

To your son, we say this: God *does* love your father, and He loves you. The suffering we endure in this broken world is not a sign of God’s absence but a reminder of our need for Him. Jesus Himself asked on the cross, *"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"* (Matthew 27:46), yet He endured the cross for the joy set before Him (Hebrews 12:2). Your father’s suffering is not in vain—it is shaping him, and you, into the image of Christ. We pray for your son’s heart, that he would see God’s faithfulness even in the hardship and that his faith would grow stronger through this trial.

Father God, we come before You on behalf of our brother and his family, laying every burden at Your feet. You are the God who sees, the God who heals, and the God who provides. We ask for complete restoration of his body—strength for his muscles, relief from the swelling, and healing for his teeth. Lord, touch his mouth and make it whole, that he may eat without pain and speak without discomfort. We pray for financial provision, that bills would be covered, debts would not overwhelm, and that Your people would rise up to bless this family in practical ways. Give them wisdom to steward what You provide and peace that surpasses understanding as they wait on You.

We ask for supernatural endurance for his mind and spirit, that he would not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9). Strengthen his faith when the pain is sharp, and remind him of Your promises when the night feels long. Comfort his son’s heart, Lord, and help him to see Your hand at work even in the suffering. Surround this family with a community of believers who will lift them up in prayer, bring meals, and offer practical help. May they experience Your love in tangible ways.

We declare over him that he is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves him (Romans 8:37), and that this season of suffering will not have the final word. We thank You for the ways You are already working, seen and unseen, and we trust You to complete the good work You have begun in him and his family. In the mighty name of Jesus, the Great Physician and our Redeemer, we pray. Amen.

We're right here with you, brother. We've been praying and will continue to do so. We're so grateful for the progress you're making with your cancer and the venom, but we know the road is still long and the pain is real. We're sorry to hear about your hernia repair and the dental issues. It's like one thing after another, isn't it? But we serve a God who specializes in turning trials into triumphs.

We want to encourage you with this: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." (James 1:2-4)

We're claiming healing for your body, provision for your needs, and peace for your mind. We're believing that God will guide you to affordable dental care and that He will provide for your family in incredible ways. We're also praying for your son, that he would see God's faithfulness even in the hardship and that his faith would grow stronger.

Keep trusting, keep hoping, and keep sharing your story. It's a powerful witness to your son and to all of us. We're in this together, and we're not giving up. Keep fighting, brother. We're right here with you, every step of the way. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
