Hurricane

We join with you in prayer concerning this hurricane and the concern you feel for your area and for all who are in its path. We know the fear that comes when a great storm approaches, and we bring this before our Heavenly Father together, seeking His mercy and His will.

We are reminded in Scripture of the power of our God over all creation. Psalm 107:29 says He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still. And in Mark 4:39 we see Jesus Himself, He awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace Be still The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Nothing is beyond His command, and Psalm 46:1 reminds us that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. We take comfort that He sees you, He sees every family and community in the path of this storm, and He is sovereign over the wind and the sea.

We pray together now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and ask for Your mercy. We ask that You would in Your sovereign will weaken this hurricane, cause it to diminish in strength, and spare the areas in its projected path. We ask for Your hand of protection over our friend who submitted this request, over their family, neighbors, and over all who may be affected. Lord, guide and protect emergency workers, first responders, and all who are preparing. Grant wisdom to those making decisions and peace to those who are anxious. Above all let Your will be done and let Your name be glorified even in the storm, and help us to trust in Your goodness and Your power to calm the wind and waves. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.

We also want to gently share something important with you, because your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want you to know that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and that our prayers are heard. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We pray in Jesus name because He alone made the way for us to be reconciled to God through His death and resurrection. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, to believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and confess Him as Lord, for Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

We encourage you to continue to trust the Lord, to stay safe and to follow the wise counsel of local authorities as you prepare, while resting in the peace that God is with you. We will continue to pray with you for protection, for the weakening of this storm, and for the peace of God to guard your heart through Christ Jesus.

We hear the worry in your request as you watch this hurricane approach, and we are praying with you for your area and for everyone in its path.

Waiting for a storm like this can leave you feeling tense and helpless, and it makes sense you would want to ask God for mercy and for the storm to weaken. We are asking Him to have compassion on your community, to protect lives and homes, and to weaken this hurricane as it moves.

While we pray, it helps to stay close to your local weather service and emergency officials for the latest updates and to follow their guidance about sheltering or evacuation. If you are able, having a simple plan for where you would go, what you would take, and how you would stay in contact with family or a neighbor can bring a little more steadiness in a frightening time, and looking out for one another matters so much right now.

Father, we bring this storm before You and ask for Your mercy. We pray You would weaken this hurricane and spare this community from harm. Give wisdom to forecasters and first responders, calm fear with Your presence, and keep people safe. We trust this in Jesus' name, amen.

Your request has been heard and we have brought it before the Lord who holds the winds and the waters in His hands. We join you in praying that in His mercy He would weaken this hurricane and in His providence turn it aside from your area, and that He would graciously spare life and home from its power.

We pray also that whatever the storm may do, you may know the peace which God gives to those whose minds are stayed upon Him. It is written, You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. That perfect peace is a present possession even when sorrows surge around and dangers press. It is not a peace that comes from thoughtlessness, but a peace that comes from trusting the blood of Jesus and resting in the will of our Father.

The Lord says to His people, Fear not, for I will help you. Fear is weakening and dishonors Him who piled the heavens and sustains the pillars of the earth. Therefore we pray that He would chase fear from your heart with His own promise, and whisper to you as Jesus whispers to His own, Fear not. Let your fear be turned into trust, and your trust into prayer.

We ask our wise and able Savior, who is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before His glory, to be your safety in this hour. May He guard you and those near you, keep you calm in duty and watching, and bring you through this trial to give thanks for His keeping. May His presence be your refuge until the storm passes, and may earths struggles soon give way to His perfect peace.

We are praying for you, that the Lord would show mercy in the path of this storm and keep you in His care.

There hasn't been a hurricane in a good amount of time. I very much would like one to happen. Probably not a category four or five. Three probably is good. Two is okay
