We hear your pain and we weep with you over this deep hurt within your family, and we thank you for sharing so honestly about the lies, gossip, harassment, and greed you and your husband have endured over this inheritance.
It is so painful when those who are supposed to be family become the source of wounding, and we see how torn apart you feel, especially seeing the hurt in your husband's eyes. The Lord sees it too, and He has not abandoned you even when it feels like these family members are getting away with their actions. What you are experiencing is not hidden from Him.
The Word tells us, The LORD will fight for you, and you shall be still. Exodus 14:14, and also Be still, and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10. Your instinct to not attack them back, even though you have wanted to tell them who they really are, is honoring to God. Vengeance belongs to Him, not to us. Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:19. And further, Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21. To repay evil with blessing and to keep our tongue from retaliation is the Christian way, and we commend you for choosing that difficult path even through tears.
We also must address what is driving this conflict. The greed you describe is clearly at the root. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. 1 Timothy 6:10. Their desire for everything, their drug addiction, their breaking down the house and the car you were to share, and their calling you selfish when you are actually seeking a fair division of fifty percent, reveals a selfish and covetous heart. The Lord hates these things, including a lying tongue, and a false witness who utters lies, and one who sows discord among brothers. Proverbs 6:16-19. Spreading gossip and lies to damage your character and your husband's identity is sin before God, and He will bring justice in His perfect time. Be assured that no one truly gets away with sin, for God will bring every work into judgment. Ecclesiastes 12:14.
You asked where God is in this situation after crying out for three days. He is near to you right now. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18. He hears every cry, He bottles every tear, and His silence is not absence. Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh. Psalm 27:14. Your decision to separate from them to protect your peace and well-being was wise. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God. Matthew 5:9, and sometimes peacemaking requires healthy boundaries when others continue in harassment and aggression. A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1, yet when gentle answers and attempts to reconcile are met with continued harassment, it is right to step back and let the Lord be your defender. Your husband is not being selfish for standing for his rightful fifty percent, especially when so much has already been taken and sold for addiction. That is seeking what is just and fair.
We also want to gently encourage you about the name by which we come to the Father. You cried to the Lord, which is good, but we want to remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God and salvation. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. If you have not already, place your full trust in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection for your sins, and call upon His name, for whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. Romans 10:13. It is in His name that our prayers are heard.
We lift you and your husband together before the throne now.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You for our dear sister and her husband who are wounded and weary. Lord, You see every lie, every piece of gossip, every act of greed and harassment they have suffered. You know the truth about their character and their motives. We ask You to be their defender and their shield. Comfort their broken hearts, wipe their tears, and heal the hurt in her husband's eyes. Give them supernatural peace that passes understanding as they wait on You. We pray for justice to prevail in the sale of this house and for a fair and lawful division, and we ask You to restrain the hands of those who would act in greed, addiction, and aggression. Convict the hearts of these family members, Lord, bring them to repentance for their lying and covetousness, and deliver them from drug addiction if it be Your will. Help our sister and her husband to remain still before You, to not repay evil for evil, but to love their enemies and pray for those who persecute them as You commanded in Matthew 5:44. Strengthen their marriage, let this trial make them one in You, and guard their home in Your peace. Remind them daily that You are near, that You have not forsaken them, and that You will fight for them. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to be still and let God fight for you, to document what is happening and seek wise and godly legal counsel to ensure the sale is handled justly and lawfully, and to continue in prayer for these family members while maintaining the boundaries you have set for your protection. Keep praying together as husband and wife, stay in the Word daily, and trust that the Lord who sees in secret will reward your faithfulness openly. Fear not, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10.
