We hear your pain and we weep with you over this deep hurt within your family, and we thank you for sharing so honestly about the lies, gossip, harassment, and greed you and your husband have endured over this inheritance.

It is so painful when those who are supposed to be family become the source of wounding, and we see how torn apart you feel, especially seeing the hurt in your husband's eyes. The Lord sees it too, and He has not abandoned you even when it feels like these family members are getting away with their actions. What you are experiencing is not hidden from Him.

The Word tells us, The LORD will fight for you, and you shall be still. Exodus 14:14, and also Be still, and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10. Your instinct to not attack them back, even though you have wanted to tell them who they really are, is honoring to God. Vengeance belongs to Him, not to us. Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:19. And further, Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21. To repay evil with blessing and to keep our tongue from retaliation is the Christian way, and we commend you for choosing that difficult path even through tears.

We also must address what is driving this conflict. The greed you describe is clearly at the root. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. 1 Timothy 6:10. Their desire for everything, their drug addiction, their breaking down the house and the car you were to share, and their calling you selfish when you are actually seeking a fair division of fifty percent, reveals a selfish and covetous heart. The Lord hates these things, including a lying tongue, and a false witness who utters lies, and one who sows discord among brothers. Proverbs 6:16-19. Spreading gossip and lies to damage your character and your husband's identity is sin before God, and He will bring justice in His perfect time. Be assured that no one truly gets away with sin, for God will bring every work into judgment. Ecclesiastes 12:14.

You asked where God is in this situation after crying out for three days. He is near to you right now. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18. He hears every cry, He bottles every tear, and His silence is not absence. Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh. Psalm 27:14. Your decision to separate from them to protect your peace and well-being was wise. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God. Matthew 5:9, and sometimes peacemaking requires healthy boundaries when others continue in harassment and aggression. A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1, yet when gentle answers and attempts to reconcile are met with continued harassment, it is right to step back and let the Lord be your defender. Your husband is not being selfish for standing for his rightful fifty percent, especially when so much has already been taken and sold for addiction. That is seeking what is just and fair.

We also want to gently encourage you about the name by which we come to the Father. You cried to the Lord, which is good, but we want to remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God and salvation. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. If you have not already, place your full trust in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection for your sins, and call upon His name, for whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. Romans 10:13. It is in His name that our prayers are heard.

We lift you and your husband together before the throne now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You for our dear sister and her husband who are wounded and weary. Lord, You see every lie, every piece of gossip, every act of greed and harassment they have suffered. You know the truth about their character and their motives. We ask You to be their defender and their shield. Comfort their broken hearts, wipe their tears, and heal the hurt in her husband's eyes. Give them supernatural peace that passes understanding as they wait on You. We pray for justice to prevail in the sale of this house and for a fair and lawful division, and we ask You to restrain the hands of those who would act in greed, addiction, and aggression. Convict the hearts of these family members, Lord, bring them to repentance for their lying and covetousness, and deliver them from drug addiction if it be Your will. Help our sister and her husband to remain still before You, to not repay evil for evil, but to love their enemies and pray for those who persecute them as You commanded in Matthew 5:44. Strengthen their marriage, let this trial make them one in You, and guard their home in Your peace. Remind them daily that You are near, that You have not forsaken them, and that You will fight for them. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to be still and let God fight for you, to document what is happening and seek wise and godly legal counsel to ensure the sale is handled justly and lawfully, and to continue in prayer for these family members while maintaining the boundaries you have set for your protection. Keep praying together as husband and wife, stay in the Word daily, and trust that the Lord who sees in secret will reward your faithfulness openly. Fear not, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10.

Thank you for sharing so honestly with us. To be slandered by family, to watch the hurt in your husband's eyes over people who should love him, and to be called selfish for trying to handle your late in-laws house fairly would leave anyone torn apart. Crying to the Lord for three days and wondering where He is in this makes sense when lies keep spreading and you feel you cannot defend yourself without going against your faith.

We are encouraged that you stepped back to protect your peace and well being. That is not unloving, it is wisdom. Guarding your heart and home when there is greed, aggression and addiction around you is taking responsibility for what God has entrusted to you. Choosing to be still before the Lord when you want to strike back takes real strength, and God sees that restraint even when it feels like others are getting away with wrong.

In a long hurt like this, forgiveness often comes in layers. There is the decision to release revenge to God, and then the slower healing of the emotions that have been stirred up by months of gossip and loss. You can make that first decision before the feelings catch up, and making it does not mean you must return to close relationship. It is right to keep loving boundaries while the sale is handled.

It may help to keep all communication about the house through one neutral channel, like the estate agent or a trusted third party, so you are not exposed to daily harassment, and to keep a simple written record of what is said and done. A wise pastor and a legal advisor walking with you both can also lighten the load so you are not carrying this alone.

We bring you and your husband before the Lord now. Father, You see the lies, the grief over family, and the strain of this inheritance battle. Comfort ### and her husband, guard their hearts and home, give them clear wisdom for each decision about the house, and strengthen them to remain steady before You when they long to answer back. Surround them with safe, godly counsel and bring Your peace into this painful place. In Jesus' name, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

For three days you have cried unto the Lord and asked where He is in this sore trial, and He has heard you. The tears which have fallen, the hurt which tears your heart, the sorrow you see in your husband's eyes when those who should have been as his own flesh rise up against him, all are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

You are not alone in feeling forsaken in the valley. Our Lord Himself cried, My God, my God, why have you forsaken me, that you and your husband might never be truly forsaken. When the wind and earthquake and fire have spent themselves, the Lord is often heard in the still small voice. He is not only the God of the hills when all is smooth, He is the God of the valleys when the battle presses hard. It will all go wrong with us, even in smooth waters, if we do not have God to be the Pilot, and in rough weather we shall soon be a wreck if we forget Him. Now is the time to throw out the anchor of faith and to say, What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee.

The temptation to answer lie with lie and to attack them as they have attacked you is strong, and you have done well to restrain it, for that is not the way of Christ. Vengeance belongs unto the Lord. There is a word for you in Lamentations, Thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul. Even when His people are poor and straitened and their difficulties seem too many, the Lord pleads the cause of His chosen. You need not fight this battle in your own strength. The Scripture says, Be still, and know that I am God. To be still is not to be careless or to consent to wrong, it is to trust that God sees and that He will deal out equal justice and will not let the liar and the greedy finally prosper in his way.

You separated to protect your peace and your wellbeing, and you sought to reconcile, and that was right and Christian. When harassment began again, to withdraw was wisdom and not sin. To seek what is just and lawful in the selling of the house and the dividing of the inheritance is not selfishness. A just portion is not greed. That others have broken what was to be shared and have spent their part upon their addictions is grievous, and their calling you selfish for seeking to preserve what remains is part of the false witness which now pains you. Let your root not be in that earthly inheritance, which is so soon corrupted and divided, but in Christ. There is an inheritance which God has prepared for His saints by a covenant of salt, exceedingly broad, and no man can take it from you. As you find all in God when you are poor, you shall find God in all when you are rich. Present peace you may have even now, being justified by faith, and rejoicing in hope of the glory of God.

Do not think that because lies have spread and people now think you are the bad, that truth is lost. God knows your character and your husband's identity in Christ, and those that have trusted in God find Him to be as real as if they could see Him. He will in His own time make the truth to shine. Be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. Walk so purely that no man may justly spatter mire upon your garments. Declare your way unto the Lord daily, hide nothing from Him, make Him your Confidant in all things and wait upon Him for guidance. Love Him who gives Himself to be trusted by you.

May the Lord keep you and your husband in perfect peace as you trust in Him. May He restrain the hands of those who harass you, bring conviction where there is greed and addiction and anger, and guard your home from further harm. May He give you wisdom for every step concerning the house and the just division, and grace not to return evil for evil but to overcome evil with good. And may you know that whatever man may say, the soul that trusts in Christ alone must be safe at the last, for if God is true, every soul that trusts in Jesus shall lack no good thing.

We will pray for you both, that faith may not fail and that you may hear that still small voice saying, I will trust and not be afraid.

Your sorrow has been heard, and the three days you have spent crying out to the Lord have not been in vain even though it feels as if He is far off. When you ask where He is in this harassment and slander, remember that He is near to the brokenhearted and He sees every lie spoken against you and your husband, every act of greed and every hurt carried in your husband's eyes. The feeling of being torn apart is real, and God does not despise those tears.

You are experiencing what the Lord Himself experienced, to be slandered by those who ought to have known better, and to have your character judged with corrupt judgment while you are trying to do what is right. Scripture says you are blessed when people falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Him. Do not think that the lies have the final word. When you do what is right and are still defamed, God can still be glorified through your patient endurance, and He keeps a true record when others spread a false one.

Your desire to answer back, to tell them who they really are and to attack as you have been attacked, is understandable in such pain, yet you are right to hold back. That restraint is not weakness, it is obedience. The Lord says, be still and know that I am God, and that vengeance belongs to Him. You are pressed on every side but not crushed, perplexed but not in despair, pursued but not forsaken. God is working with you as you choose the hard path of not returning evil for evil. Continue to lay hold of that choice daily, in deed and in prayer, and trust Him to fight the battle you cannot fight on your own.

What you describe in your family, the greed that has made them selfish, rude, aggressive and angry, the demand for everything and the destruction of what was to be shared, the drug addiction that consumes what it touches, comes from covetousness. Scripture calls covetousness idolatry, because it puts the love of gain in the place of God. It makes people cold toward others and willing to break what is good for the sake of more. The house, the money, the car, even an inheritance, are all things entrusted to us for a time. We are stewards, not owners, and God will ask how we used what was placed in our hands, whether by labor or by inheritance, and whether we used it to be generous and just or to feed our appetites. Pray that God would open their eyes to see this and bring them to repentance and freedom, and pray also that He would keep your own hearts free from the same love of money, even while you seek what is fair.

Your decision to separate for the sake of your peace and well being, after trying to reconcile, is wise when harassment continues. It is right to protect your marriage and your home. In the matter of the house, continue to act with honesty and fairness. To seek your husband's lawful half is not selfish when it is done openly and lawfully, especially when so much has already been taken and wasted. Seek wise and godly counsel and also sound legal counsel so the sale can be handled justly and without further strife, and keep clear records. Do not let greed take root in you as you respond to their greed. Guard your unity as husband and wife, speak truth to one another, and refuse to let the lies define who you are.

Let me pray for you. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ through whom alone we have salvation, hear this husband and wife who are weary from slander and harassment. Comfort them where they are hurt and torn apart. Show them that You have not abandoned them, but are present to sustain them. Give them strength to be still before You, to not repay evil with evil, and to keep doing what is right. Protect their marriage, their peace, and their well being. Bring conviction and mercy to their family members who are caught in greed and addiction, that they may turn from those sins and find new life in Christ. Grant wisdom and justice in the selling of the house and the dividing of what is due, and let all be done with integrity. Wipe away lies with truth, and let Your people be known by love even under pressure. Establish their hearts in hope, that they may know they are not forsaken, and give them a future inheritance that does not fade. Amen.
