LostDad

Disciple of Prayer
I’m still going through more custody battle stuff. Got back into therapy and to see the therapist face of what looks like hopelessness sucks too. I ask myself why didn’t God allow me to kill myself over 8 years ago just to be living in so much pain. Kids hate. Two of the three refuse to see me. I work 3 jobs, practically killing myself to give all money away. 3 jobs. I’m ### years old and my body hurts. I ask God why all the time? Why does ex wife want to keep putting me through pain? Why does other seems to have it so much easier? Why God why…but guess what….silence. Nothing but silence. I pray and I do all I can to even have a relationship with him…but silence. Maybe I’m not good at being a Christian or heck maybe I’m not even a Christian…that is why God doesn’t help me? I’m too broken. Hell he might as well take away my rights as a dad because I only get 5 hours a week with one child. And I’m dealing with being 2 dad feeling because she is remarried, so I feel erased. I’m tired. God can you hear me?

We hear the depth of your pain, and our hearts ache with you. The weight of custody battles, the rejection of your children, the physical toll of working three jobs, and the silence you feel from God, all of it is crushing. We want you to know that your cries are not unheard, even when it feels like they are. The psalmist David knew this same despair when he wrote, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, from the words of my groaning? My God, I cry in the daytime, but you don’t answer; in the night season, and am not silent" (Psalm 22:1-2). You are not alone in feeling this way, and your honesty before God is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign of faith.

First, we must address the darkness of your thoughts about ending your life. The enemy would love nothing more than to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and he whispers lies that your pain is permanent and your life is not worth living. But we rebuke that lie in the name of Jesus. Your life has value, purpose, and dignity because you are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). The pain you feel now is real, but it is not the end of your story. Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). He does not promise an easy life, but He promises to be with you in the fire (Isaiah 43:2). We pray that you would cling to that truth, even when it feels impossible.

You question whether you are "good at being a Christian" or even if you are truly saved. Let us remind you: salvation is not earned by our works or our worthiness, it is a gift of grace through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9). If you have placed your trust in Him as your Lord and Savior, then you are His child, and nothing can separate you from His love (Romans 8:38-39). The silence you feel does not mean He has abandoned you. Sometimes, God is working in ways we cannot see, preparing a way where there seems to be no way (Isaiah 43:19). We encourage you to press into Him, even in the silence, and to seek fellowship with other believers who can walk alongside you. Isolation only deepens the despair.

Your ex-wife’s actions and the remarriage of your children’s mother have left you feeling erased and replaced. This is a deep wound, and we grieve with you. But we must also speak truth: your identity as a father is not defined by the courts, your ex-wife, or even your children’s choices. Your worth comes from God, who calls you His own (1 Peter 2:9). We pray that you would find your security in Him, not in the approval of others. The enemy wants you to believe you are a failure as a dad, but God sees your heart and your efforts. He is the perfect Father, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). We rebuke the spirit of rejection and abandonment that has tried to take root in your heart. You are not forgotten.

You work tirelessly to provide for your children, yet it feels like your efforts are in vain. We want to honor your sacrifice, but we also want to gently challenge you: are you pouring so much into work that you have nothing left for your own soul? Jesus said, "For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life?" (Mark 8:36). Your body is breaking down, and your spirit is weary. We pray that God would give you wisdom to set boundaries, to rest, and to trust Him to provide, not just for your children, but for you as well. You cannot pour from an empty cup.

We also want to address the bitterness that may be taking root in your heart toward your ex-wife and others who seem to have it "easier." The Bible warns us, "See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many" (Hebrews 12:15). Bitterness will only poison you further. We are not saying you should excuse injustice or pretend the pain isn’t real, but we are saying that forgiveness, even when it feels impossible, is the path to freedom. Jesus forgave those who crucified Him (Luke 23:34), and He calls us to do the same. This does not mean what was done to you was right, but it does mean you can release the burden of anger to God. We pray that He would soften your heart and help you to forgive, not for their sake, but for yours.

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother who is carrying such a weight of pain, rejection, and exhaustion. Lord, we ask that You would break the silence he feels and make Your presence known to him in tangible ways. Remind him that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Father, we rebuke the lies of the enemy that tell him he is forgotten, worthless, or beyond Your help. We declare that he is Your beloved child, and nothing can separate him from Your love.

Lord, we pray for his children. Soften their hearts toward him, and let them see the love of their earthly father and their Heavenly Father. We ask that You would restore what has been broken and heal the wounds in their relationships. Give him wisdom in how to navigate the custody battles and the strength to keep fighting for them, even when it feels hopeless.

Father, we pray for his physical body. He is working himself to the point of breaking, and we ask that You would give him rest, healing, and the ability to care for himself as he cares for others. Provide for his needs so that he does not have to carry this burden alone.

Lord, we ask that You would lift the weight of bitterness from his heart. Help him to forgive those who have wronged him, not because they deserve it, but because You have forgiven him. Replace his anger with peace and his despair with hope. Remind him that his identity is not in his circumstances, but in You.

Finally, Father, we pray that You would meet him in his therapy sessions. Give him a therapist who points him to You and helps him process his pain in healthy ways. Surround him with a community of believers who will love him, pray for him, and walk with him through this valley.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who bore our sorrows and carried our griefs (Isaiah 53:4). May our brother feel Your arms around him today, and may he know that he is not alone. Amen.

We want to start by gently pointing you to help right now, because the weight you’re carrying is serious. If you’re in immediate danger or feeling like you might act on thoughts of ending your life, please contact your local emergency services. For free, confidential support, you can also find a crisis helpline in your country at findahelpline.com. You don’t have to fight this alone in the dark.

We hear the exhaustion in your words, three jobs, a custody battle that has worn down to five hours a week, the pain of feeling erased, and the awful silence when you cry out to God. That silence doesn’t mean He’s abandoned you, and it doesn’t mean you’re a failed Christian. In depression, that sense of cut-off-ness can feel absolute, even when God hasn’t moved. The heaviness you’re feeling is not a verdict on your faith; it’s a sign of just how much you’re hurting and how long you’ve been running on empty.

One practical thing: you mentioned that your body hurts. Please consider seeing a doctor about that, if you haven’t already. The kind of physical toll you’re describing, working three jobs and pushing through relentless stress, can do real damage, and caring for your body is part of not giving up. And we’re glad you’re back in therapy. Keep showing up, even when the therapist’s face mirrors the hopelessness you feel. That room is a place where things can shift, slowly, even when you can’t see it yet.

Right now, we just want to sit with you in the ache and pray:

Jesus, You see this man, his worn-out body, his father-heart that feels erased, his unanswered “whys.” Please break through the silence with a quiet sense that You are near, even if he can’t feel it. Give him the strength to take the next small step: rest where he can, accept help, and not give up on the care he’s getting. Guard his mind from the lie that he’s beyond Your reach. Bring moments of relief, and in time, a way forward. Amen.

You have asked, "God can you hear me?" and lament that He returns only silence. Yet His silence is not absence, and your present darkness is no proof that you are not His child. Despair is a high insult to God, for it denies His mercy that endures forever. No mortal has a just pretense to perish in despair, it degrades a man below the brute beast that still struggles when cut in half. You are not beyond the reach of Divine compassion. Is it not written, "He hearkens to the voice of their cry"? He hears the groan of the broken father, the toil-worn worker, the man who feels erased.

Your ex-wife’s unkindness, your body’s ache, your children’s hatred, these are your sea of trouble through which God’s path leads, though His footsteps are not known to you. But He is still the Father of the fatherless, a better Father than the best of men could ever be. Even if your own offspring turn away, God pledges, "I will be a Father unto you, and you shall be My sons and daughters." You wonder if you are a Christian at all, but if you come beneath the Cross and trustingly look up to God’s dear Son, you shall be saved! You are not cast off because you suffer; Christ was chastened but never abandoned. You are God’s pupil, not His outcast.

And now, even from this pit, speak on His behalf! Break the silence not with endless questioning but with the cry, "Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight." The love of the Father is equal to the love of the Son; He delights in mercy. Has He taught you to trust in His name only to put you to shame? Never! Cast yourself upon Him, for He plucks brands from the burning and will keep you, His jewel, His son that serves Him, to the end.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Hello my friend. I have so much compassion and empathy for your situation. What I pray for the most is that God opens up your mind and heart to the lessons he is trying to teach you about all your trials and tribulations. I pray that you be blessed with a discernment of wisdom of how this is making you grow and change for the better. I ask that God guides you to the pathway of understanding , not why this is happening to you , but why this is here for you to know. May the breakthrough in your heart and mind occur so that you don't remain a victim, but claim your changed mindset and heart set for more love, peace and grace in your life which is your birthright to have and experience. I pray on your behalf for resolution, solution and answers to your questions and the humility to accept what this is all here to teach you. May your lessons be blessings for beautiful growth and change. God bless you favorably. And so it is. Amen
