Feeling hopeless

Hello how do you pray without ceasing and nothing seems to work I’m a firm believer in the lord our father. I sit and wonder how and why do he let us go through some of the toughest storms when you have no one but him. I’m homeless with two teenage daughters and there are no shelters and I lost my job and have no transportation how do I come out of a situation like this. It says he’s near the broken hearted but I feel like he’s not why me why do I continue to get the bad end of the stick I have no family or friends to help it’s just me and I’m stuck having to live at a park I pray everyday for some kind of breakthrough but everyone says I got to put in the work but it’s only so much I can do when I have no car to get around no job to provide for my family and no where to stay so how am I suppose to get on my feet. It’s far fetched thinking in reality that a breakthrough is gonna come because I feel like it’s no breakthrough coming I’m telling my girls to pray something is gonna happen in reality knowing there is nothing happening. Why me lord for I am a faithful servant trying to do right by people and I lm lifted out here alone. I have faith as small as a mustard seed to no avail. Please pray with me that I can get the breakthrough that is so much needed so I can prove to my girls that Jesus is real.

We hear the depth of your pain, exhaustion, and despair, and we want you to know that your cry has reached the heart of God. You are not alone, even when it feels like the world has turned its back on you. The Lord sees you, every tear, every sleepless night, every prayer whispered in the darkness. He has not abandoned you, though the weight of your circumstances may scream otherwise.

First, we must address the lie that God has left you or that your breakthrough is "far-fetched." Scripture tells us, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). Your feelings of abandonment are real, but they are not the truth. The enemy wants you to believe that God is silent, that your prayers bounce off the ceiling, and that hope is a cruel joke. But Jesus said, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33). Your struggle is not a sign of His absence, it is the very place where His power is made perfect in your weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

You mentioned praying without ceasing, and we want to affirm that this is not a burden but a lifeline. Prayer is not a transaction where we barter with God for blessings; it is the breath of a child crying out to a Father who loves you more than you can comprehend. Even when answers seem delayed, your prayers are never wasted. "The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry" (Psalm 34:15). Keep speaking to Him, even if it’s just, "Lord, I don’t understand, but I trust You."

Now, let us rebuke the spirit of hopelessness that has taken root in your heart. The enemy wants you to believe that your situation is permanent, that your faith is too small, and that your daughters will never see God’s faithfulness. But we declare over you: "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life" (Proverbs 13:12). Your breakthrough is coming. It may not look the way you expect, but God is working even now. You are not "stuck", you are being positioned for a testimony that will silence every lie.

We must also address the practical side of your struggle. You are right that faith without action is incomplete, but you are not responsible for carrying this burden alone. James 2:15-16 says, "Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you tells them, ‘Go in peace; stay warm and well fed,’ but does not provide for their physical needs, what good is that?" We serve a God who commands His people to care for the vulnerable, and we believe He is stirring the hearts of His church to step into your situation. Have you reached out to local churches, Christian organizations, or even government assistance programs? Many communities have resources for housing, job training, and transportation that you may not be aware of. We encourage you to ask God to lead you to the right people, those who will not just pray for you but walk with you.

Your daughters are watching you, and though you may feel like you’re failing them, you are teaching them the most powerful lesson of all: how to cling to Jesus when life is unbearable. You are showing them that faith is not the absence of pain but the presence of God in the midst of it. Do not underestimate the impact of your perseverance. "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up" (Galatians 6:9).

We also want to gently challenge the "why me" question. It is human to ask, but the truth is, suffering is not a punishment for your faithfulness, it is a tool God uses to refine you and draw you closer to Him. Jesus Himself asked, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46) while hanging on the cross, yet His suffering brought salvation to the world. Your suffering is not in vain. God is using this season to shape you into a woman of unshakable faith, and one day, you will look back and see how He carried you through.

Let us pray with you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our sister who is weary and worn. Lord, You see her, homeless, jobless, and carrying the weight of providing for her daughters. You see her tears, her exhaustion, and her desperate cries for help. Father, we ask that You would be her shelter in this storm. Provide a roof over her head, a job to sustain her family, and transportation to meet her needs. Lord, we rebuke the spirit of hopelessness and declare that her breakthrough is on the way. Give her the strength to keep going, even when she can’t see the way out.

We ask that You would surround her with Your people, believers who will stand in the gap for her, offer practical help, and remind her that she is not forgotten. Father, we pray for her daughters, that they would see Your faithfulness through their mother’s faith. Let this season be a testimony of Your goodness, not a stumbling block. Restore her hope, Lord, and let her feel Your presence in tangible ways. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who overcame the world and promises to never leave us nor forsake us. Amen.

We urge you to hold onto this truth: God is not just near the brokenhearted, He is in the brokenhearted. Your pain is not the end of your story; it is the soil where your testimony is growing. Crying out “why me” when you’ve been faithful and everything keeps crumbling is not a failure of faith, it’s the honest weariness of a mom fighting for her daughters while sleeping in a park. You aren’t broken for asking. Many of the psalms are that same raw question lifted to God, and He holds you in it.

When everything feels impossible, sometimes the most practical prayer is simply “Lord, show me the one next thing.” A whole breakthrough is overwhelming, but one open door is something a mustard-seed heart can watch for. Right now shelter has to come first. If you can get to a public library, they usually offer free computer access and can help you search for your area’s coordinated entry system or a homeless assistance hotline, in many regions, calling 211 connects you with someone who knows every bed, every waiting list, and exactly what documentation opens doors. Even without transportation, sometimes a church office can connect you to a ride or a volunteer willing to meet you. Let the staff know you have two daughters with you; that often changes what resources they can pull. None of that is “putting in work” on your own, it’s reaching for the hands God already has in your community, even when they’ve been hard to find.

Lord Jesus, you see this mother and her girls in a park tonight. Shelter them, send the right person or program quickly, and keep despair far from them. Your trial is deep, and your heart is sorely pierced. Yet let me say plainly: the eye that sees no light is not proof that the sun has ceased to burn. You cry, “Why me, Lord?” and that cry is not unbelief but the pain of a child who trusts her Father enough to ask. You have faith, small, battered, and weary, but it is true faith, for it clings to Jesus alone. A grain of mustard seed is no great thing in itself, but it is a living thing, and Christ Himself declared it can move mountains. That same Lord who gave you this little faith will not despise it. The least faith in Jesus is the gift of God, and it is precious beyond price.

You wonder why He lets you go through such storms when you have no one but Him. Let me tell you: He is not far from you in this cold park. The broken heart is His chosen dwelling-place. When all earthly props are removed, then faith must drop down wholly into the arms of the unseen Saviour. That is the very essence of faith, not merely to believe He exists, but to cast yourself upon Him when every visible support is gone. Your homelessness, your want of work, your empty hands, these are not tokens of His anger but the very ground where faith learns to rely on nothing else. Faith does its greatest exploits in the dark.

You say you pray without ceasing and nothing seems to work. But true prayer is not overcoming God’s reluctance, it is laying hold of His willingness. He hears you. Do you think the whispered cry of a mother shivering with her children escapes His ear? It pierces Heaven. Yet faith is a shield that must bear blows. The enemy hurls fiery darts of despair and whispers that no breakthrough will come. But faith catches those darts and quenches them. When you tell your daughters to pray while fearing nothing will happen, you are wielding that shield even with a trembling hand. Keep lifting it. The very act of calling on His name, even through your tears, is the work of His Spirit within you.

Do not imagine that faith means idle waiting. The faith that saves is a faith that works. But your work now is not frantic striving; it is the hard, quiet work of clinging. You ask what you can do with no car, no job, no shelter. Do what you can: love those girls, speak truth to them, cry to God on their behalf, and look for any open door, however small. A faith that produces patience, kindness, and honesty in the midst of nothing is a mighty faith. It may not look like much in the world’s ledger, but it is a sweet savor to God. Rahab’s faith sanctified her life; she did not continue as she once was. So your faith, even in the park, will keep you from despair and sin.

The thought that you must prove Jesus to your daughters is a holy one. Yet know this: when they see their mother trusting God with nothing, they are seeing a living epistle of Christ. If you had all comfort, they might never see the supernatural power of grace. But a mother who can say, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him,” is preaching the most eloquent sermon. Do not think He has abandoned you. The just shall live by faith, not by sight, not by feelings, not by visible provision. When the fig tree does not blossom and there is no herd in the stall, then faith finds all in God. That is the walk of faith: to receive Christ and then to walk in Him, step by step, in the dark as well as the light.

I beseech you to look again to the Man of Sorrows who had nowhere to lay His head. He knows your homelessness. He who hung naked upon a tree knows your destitution. And He is risen, a living High Priest who is touched with the feeling of your infirmities. Cry to Him for more faith. The least faith saves, but strong faith glorifies God mightily. Plead with Him to enlarge your trust, to make sweet promises real to your heart. He delights to answer such a prayer. The breakthrough may not come as you imagine, a sudden chariot at the curb, but He will make a way in the wilderness. He will feed you, though it be with manna you cannot store up. Wait on Him; watch for His hand. And while you wait, count it no small thing that your daughters have a mother who, in the blackest night, still reaches for the pierced hand of the Redeemer. That is a legacy no earthly wealth can buy.

Come, then, and let us pray, not with ceasing, but with a holy importunity that will not let Him go until He bless us. For all things are possible to him that believes.
