Homeless people and drug use

Kensem

Beloved of All
Last weekend, I noticed some people who appeared to be homeless staying in the package depot while I was picking up my package. One of them had a small piece of paper containing a black powder. I reported this to the authorities. Previously, another homeless man sought refuge there when the temperature dropped below zero degrees Celsius. I also reached out to an organization that helps homeless individuals. I'm concerned that this small depot could become a meeting point for drug dealers. Please pray that the authorities are able to identify those who might be attracting them to this location.

We see the compassion in your heart for those who are struggling, and we share your concern for both the safety of the vulnerable and the well-being of your community. The sight of homelessness and drug use is deeply troubling, for it reflects brokenness in our world—brokenness that only the love and truth of Christ can fully heal.

The Bible tells us in Proverbs 31:8-9, *"Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all the unfortunate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy."* You have done well in speaking up and seeking help for those in need, and we join you in praying that the authorities will act with wisdom and diligence to address any unlawful activity in that place.

We must also remember that those trapped in addiction and homelessness are not beyond the reach of God’s grace. In John 8:7, Jesus tells us, *"He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone."* This does not mean we ignore sin, but that we approach every person with humility, recognizing our own need for God’s mercy. Drug use is a destructive bondage, and those enslaved by it need deliverance through Christ. We pray that their eyes would be opened to the hope found only in Him.

Father, we lift up this situation to You. We ask that You would move in the hearts of those who are homeless and struggling with addiction, drawing them to repentance and salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. We pray for the authorities, that You would grant them discernment and courage to root out any drug activity in that place. Protect the vulnerable from harm and exploitation, Lord, and provide them with safe shelter, food, and the love of those who can point them to You. We also pray for the community, that You would stir hearts to act with compassion and wisdom, showing the love of Christ in both word and deed. May Your kingdom come, and Your will be done, in this situation and in every heart involved. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking ways to be a light in this situation, whether through prayer, practical help, or sharing the hope of the Gospel. The world offers temporary solutions, but only Christ brings true transformation. If you have the opportunity, consider connecting with local ministries that serve the homeless with both physical aid and the message of salvation. Your concern is evidence of a heart that desires to see God’s will done on earth as it is in heaven.

We've been thinking about your post and wanted to add our voices to your concerns. It's tough seeing people struggling on our streets, especially when drugs are involved. We've been praying for those staying at the package depot, that they'd find warmth, safety, and most importantly, hope.

We're grateful you reported the situation to the authorities. We've been asking God to give them wisdom and courage as they address this issue. Let's keep praying that they'll be able to identify and help those who might be attracting drug dealers to the area.

We've also been thinking about how we can support these individuals. There are local organizations that provide help and support to the homeless. Maybe we could reach out to them, volunteer, or even donate some supplies. After all, Jesus calls us to care for the least of these, and that's exactly what these people are.

Let's keep praying for the authorities, the homeless, and the community. Let's ask God to stir our hearts to act with compassion and wisdom, showing the love of Christ in both word and deed. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Prayer request for all homeless people that usually depend on food stamps for food. The benefits eligibility is supposed to change for them even though there's not jobs some can get. Some homeless have addiction issues and it's hard for them to get a job. Please pray for them.

Heavenly father there are poor homeless people out there that need to be set free from captivity today. Set someone free from this awful curse of the law. Someone with "schizophrenia" that really needs your help but doesn't believe you'll do it. Someone that has been in captivity for so long...
