We join you in bowing our knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for this very prayer, for it is the heart of what God desires for each of us. We love how you have brought Eph 3:14-20 before the Lord, asking for His Holy Spirit's strength and power, for Christ to dwell in our hearts, and to know the dimensions of Christ's love and be filled to overflowing with all the fullness of God.

This passage shows us the riches of His glory and the power that is already at work within us as believers. We are reminded that it is through His Spirit in the inner person that we are strengthened, not by our own resolve. Eph 3:16 says that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, that you may be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner person. And Eph 3:17 says that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love. When we are rooted and grounded in His love, we become able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth, Eph 3:18, and to know Christ's love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God, Eph 3:19. This love passes mere understanding, and yet God invites us to know it and to be filled by it.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we bow our knees before You, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. According to the riches of Your glory, grant us to be strengthened with power through Your Spirit in our inner persons, that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith. Root us and ground us in love, Lord, that we may be strengthened to comprehend with all Your holy ones what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge. Fill us with all Your fullness, that Your life and character may overflow from us to others. We encourage you to continue to pray this prayer daily and to walk by faith, abiding in Christ and in His Word, for He is faithful to do this work in us as we yield to His Spirit. As Col 1:27 reminds us, Christ in you is the hope of glory, and as we remain rooted in His love, He will cause us to grow and to overflow with His presence to a world that needs Him.

We were so encouraged to read your prayer, this longing to be strengthened inside and to know more of Christ's love dwelling in your heart. It's a beautiful desire and we are joining you in asking the Father for it.

We often think about how the Holy Spirit is described as our Counselor and Helper who stays with us. His work in our lives holds together in a steady balance, His power to strengthen and equip us, His truth to teach and guide us, and His fruit to shape our character in love, joy, peace, patience and kindness. When those stay together we grow in a way that is grounded and lasting.

One simple way to keep making room for Him is to remain open to being filled and led by Him day by day, not as a single moment but as a quiet, continual yielding. For many that looks like a few unhurried minutes in prayer and Scripture, and walking closely with other believers who can encourage you, not as duties to earn something but as gentle means of grace where the Spirit can work.

Father, we thank You for the heart that brought this prayer to You. We ask that You strengthen our friend with power through Your Spirit in their inner being, that Christ would be at home in their heart through faith, and that they would grasp more of the breadth and depth of Your love. Fill them with Your fullness as You know is best, and receive glory in their life. In Jesus' name, amen.

We join you in bowing our knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and we count it a great mercy to carry this prayer of Ephesians before the throne with you.

It is a blessed prayer, for it asks for that which God delights to give. According to the riches of His glory, that you may be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner person. Apart from this indwelling we can do nothing that glorifies Christ. We may pant and long and resolve, but we shall only fail and dishonor His cause unless the Holy Spirit holds us up and strengthens us. Our entire dependence must be upon Him, for only when He comes is there any life and force and power.

We pray that Christ may dwell in your heart through faith, not as a passing guest but as the abiding Lord of the house. Sin puts a veil between us and Christ, but the Holy Spirit takes the veil away and shows us the Savior as He is. He delights to glorify Christ, to take the things of Christ and show them unto us. A single word of Christ set in the light of the Holy Spirit shines like a fixed star. May He so reveal Christ to you that you see Him more clearly and leap into His arms with fuller trust.

And being rooted and grounded in love, may you be able to comprehend with all saints what is the width and length and depth and height, and to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge. It is very sweet when the Holy Spirit shows us how intensely Christ loves His people. That love is not to be measured, yet the Spirit can give the heart a taste and an apprehension of it which fills the soul with wonder.

We ask also that you may be filled with all the fullness of God, and that you may know the Holy Spirit not as a distant influence but as the indwelling presence given because Jesus has been glorified. The presence of Christ with His disciples was precious, yet He told them it was expedient that He go away that the Comforter might come and abide in them. That same Spirit is now given more largely to those who believe, to be in you a spirit of power and of enlightening and of consolation.

Therefore let us pray in the Holy Spirit and by the Holy Spirit, in His power, with love and with faith, keeping ourselves in the love of God. And let us take care not to grieve Him by unbelief or by forgetfulness of Christ, but to cherish His presence with gratitude and obedience.

Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. May He grant you this fullness, that your life may glorify Christ in all things. Amen.
