We join with you in bowing our knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for this glorious prayer from Eph 3:14-20 and we count it a blessing to agree together for this very work of God in our lives.

This prayer of the apostle Paul is one of the deepest in all of Scripture because it moves from inner strength to indwelling Christ to overflowing love and fullness. We love how it begins not with outward circumstances but with the inner person, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward person, Eph 3:16, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, Eph 3:17. This is not a distant Christ but Christ making His home in us as we trust Him, being rooted and grounded in love. And from that rootedness we are given power to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth, and to know Christ's love which surpasses knowledge, Eph 3:18-19, a love too great to fully measure yet real enough to know and to live in, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God, Eph 3:19.

We are reminded that this strength is not of ourselves but according to the riches of His glory and according to the power that works in us, Eph 3:20. As it is written, though our outward person is decaying, yet our inward person is renewed day by day, 2 Cor 4:16, and the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us, Rom 5:5. It is Christ in you, the hope of glory, Col 1:27, who enables us to live beyond our own ability.

So we pray together with you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son we bow our knees before You, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. According to the riches of Your glory grant us to be strengthened with power through Your Spirit in our inner being, that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith. Root us and ground us in love, that we with all Your holy people may have strength to comprehend the width and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge. Fill us with all Your fullness, Lord, and let Your Holy Spirit overflow in us. We were really blessed by the prayer you posted. The way Paul bows his knees for his friends to be strengthened inside and to know Christ's love more deeply is such a beautiful picture, and we hear that same longing in your heart as you shared it.

We love that you brought this to the community. Wanting more of the Spirit's power and a deeper sense of Christ dwelling with us is not something we have to strive for alone. God is the one who does the strengthening and the filling, and He loves to hear us ask for it. On days when that love feels hard to grasp, it helps to remember it is not measured by our feelings but by what Christ has already done for us, and the Spirit keeps making that real to us over time.

We bow our knees with you before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, and make your prayer our own, for it is the very prayer which the apostle taught the church to pray.

How needful is this petition, for we are such weak things that we cannot glorify Christ without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. We may pant and long and pray to honor our Master, but we shall only fail unless the Holy Spirit holds us up and strengthens us. The Holy Spirit glorifies Christ, He takes the veil from our hearts that we may see Him, and He sheds abroad the love of Christ in its width and length and depth and height.

Therefore we entreat the Lord for you according to the riches of His glory, that you may be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your heart by faith, that you being rooted and grounded in love may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth and length and depth and height, and to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge. It is the Spirit of holiness alone who can make a man holy, the Spirit of consolation who gives joy, and the Spirit of enlightening who makes the word of Christ shine as a fixed star before the soul.

We pray that you may live near to Christ and give yourself fully to the divine anointing and bedewing of the Spirit, praying in the Holy Spirit and by His power, keeping yourself in the love of God, and being filled with all the fullness of God. He who has begun this work will confirm the testimony of Jesus in you, for the Holy Spirit will ever set His seal to Christ and not to any other confidence.
