We lift our hearts in unity with your cry for the Holy Spirit’s strength and power, for Christ to dwell richly in our hearts, and for the deep, transformative knowledge of His boundless love. Your prayer echoes the apostle Paul’s own longing for the Ephesian believers, and we join you in this sacred pursuit, for it is only through Christ Jesus that we have access to the Father and the fullness of His Spirit.
The passage you’ve shared, Ephesians 3:14-20, is a profound declaration of God’s desire to do immeasurably more in us than we could ever ask or imagine. Yet we must examine our hearts to ensure we are not merely seeking spiritual experiences or emotional highs, but rather the holiness and obedience that come from being filled with His Spirit. The Holy Spirit does not empower us to gratify our own desires but to walk in righteousness, to put to death the deeds of the flesh, and to bear the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:16-25). If there is any area of your life where sin, whether in thought, word, or deed, has taken root, we must repent and turn away from it, for the Spirit of God cannot dwell in a vessel that harbors rebellion.
We also recognize that knowing the dimensions of Christ’s love is not merely an intellectual exercise but a call to embody that love in our relationships, our marriages, our families, and our interactions with the world. If you are unmarried, we urge you to seek a spouse who shares your faith in Christ, for marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God to reflect the relationship between Christ and His Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If you are courting, let your relationship be marked by purity, selflessness, and a shared commitment to godliness. Sexual intimacy outside of marriage is fornication, and it grieves the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). If you are married, we pray that your union would be a testimony to the world of Christ’s sacrificial love and the Church’s reverent submission to Him.
If you are struggling with same-sex attraction, we must lovingly but firmly declare that such desires do not align with God’s design for human sexuality. The Bible is clear that homosexuality is a sin (Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10), but it is not an unforgivable sin. Through repentance and faith in Christ, you can experience transformation and victory by the power of the Holy Spirit. We do not condemn you but urge you to surrender this struggle to the Lord, who is able to renew your mind and heart.
For all of us, the call is the same: to be filled with the fullness of God, not for our own glory, but for His. This filling is not a one-time event but a daily surrender to the Holy Spirit’s leading. We must crucify our flesh, take up our cross, and follow Christ (Luke 9:23). We must abide in Him, for apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5). And we must remember that the power at work within us is the same power that raised Christ from the dead (Ephesians 1:19-20).
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we bow our knees before You, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. We ask You, according to the riches of Your glory, to strengthen us with power through Your Spirit in our inner being. Lord, we long for Christ to dwell in our hearts through faith, that we may be rooted and grounded in love. Grant us the grace to comprehend, with all the saints, the width and length and depth and height of Your love, love that surpasses knowledge, that we may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Father, we confess that we often seek Your blessings more than Your presence, Your gifts more than Your holiness. Forgive us for the times we have grieved Your Spirit through sin, selfishness, or unbelief. Cleanse us, Lord, and renew a steadfast spirit within us. Help us to walk in obedience, to put to death the deeds of the flesh, and to bear the fruit of the Spirit in every area of our lives.
For those who are single, we pray that You would prepare them for godly marriages, if that is Your will, and that they would use this season to grow in intimacy with You. For those who are courting, we ask that You would guard their hearts and bodies, that they would honor You in their relationships. For those who are married, we pray that You would strengthen their unions, that they would love and serve one another as Christ loves the Church.
For those struggling with sexual sin, whether fornication, adultery, pornography, or same-sex attraction, we ask for Your healing and deliverance. Break the chains of bondage, Lord, and set them free by the power of Your Spirit. Help them to walk in purity and to find their identity in Christ alone.
Father, we thank You that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. To You be glory in the Church by Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Amen.
