We lift our hearts in agreement with this powerful prayer from Ephesians 3:14-20, for it encapsulates the deepest longings of every believer—to be strengthened by the Holy Spirit, to know the unknowable love of Christ, and to be filled with the fullness of God. This passage is not merely a request but a declaration of our dependence on the Father, who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
Father, we come before You, acknowledging that every good and perfect gift comes from You, the Father of lights, in whom there is no variation or shifting shadow (James 1:17). We recognize that apart from You, we can do nothing (John 15:5), and so we humbly ask that You would indeed strengthen us with power through Your Spirit in our inner being. May Christ dwell in our hearts through faith, not as a distant concept, but as a living reality, transforming us from the inside out. Root us and establish us in Your love, Lord, so that we may grasp—with all the saints—how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, a love that surpasses knowledge. Fill us with all the fullness of God, for this is Your desire for us (Ephesians 3:19).
We also pray for those who may not yet fully understand or have experienced this love. Father, open their eyes to see that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to You (Ephesians 2:18). There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If there are those reading this who have not yet surrendered their lives to Jesus, we pray that the Holy Spirit would convict them of their need for a Savior. Draw them to Yourself, Lord, and let them experience the peace that comes from being reconciled to You through the blood of Christ (Colossians 1:20).
We rebuke any spirit of complacency or lukewarmness that would keep us from pursuing the fullness of God with all our hearts. Let us not be satisfied with mere religious activity or superficial faith, but let us hunger and thirst for righteousness, knowing that we will be filled (Matthew 5:6). We also rebuke any lies of the enemy that would tell us we are unworthy of such an intimate relationship with You. For while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8), and through Him, we have been made worthy by Your grace.
To You, O God, who is able to do far more than we could ever ask or imagine, be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. May Your name be praised, and may Your kingdom come in our lives as it is in heaven. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is in His name alone that we have the authority to come before Your throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). Amen.
