Father, we look to You and Your Word, Isaiah 8:20, rather than to all we see and hear from the noise and pollution of the world, and thank You, "You are able to save forever those who come to God through Jesus, because He lives to make intercession for us," Heb 7:25, c.f. Rom 8:34. We agree with this husband, for his wife, children, family -- speak to us by any and every ordinary and extraordinary means: Father, with humble confidence, give her, them, us dreams and visions underlining your will for us in Christ Jesus, as You have done from ancient times: Joseph, Matt 1:20, Magi, Matt 2:12, Abimelech, Gen 20:3, Laban to remain neutral regarding Jacob, Gen 31:24, Nebuchadnezzar, Dan 2:1, Dan 4:5, Paul, Acts 19:6, and You will continue to though the future, Heb 13:8. Your arm is not too short, Num 11:23, especially to save, Isa 50:2, Isa 59:1.

Again, as little children, "we know You can do all things and no purpose of Yours can be thwarted,"Job 42:2 We agree with John, that light is stronger than darkness and not able to overcome it, John 1:5. We agree that "nothing shall be impossible with God," Luke 1:27, "The things impossible with man are possible with God," Mark 10:27.

Keep her, him, us and our churches, families, friends, pastors and government leaders from temptation, sin, evil, wrongdoing, lies, fear, evil people, deception, and the evil one, Lk 11:4, 1 Cor 8:1, Zeph 3:13, 2 Cor 13:7, 2 Cor 11:6, 2 Tim 3:5, 2 Tim 3:13, Tit 1:16, 2 Thes 3:2, Matt 24:4, Rev 12:9, Matt 6:13, John 17:15, 2 Thes 3:3. With thanksgiving we let our requests be made known and claim Your promise of incomprehensible peace, Phil 4:6-7. We thank You in advance, Mark 11:24, Heb 11:6, Jesus' Name, The Amen, and Faithful Witness, Rev 3:14, in Jesus ALL Your promises are Yes, and therefore we say, Amen, 2 Cor 1:20... Thank You and you all in Jesus' Name.

We join with you in this humble and earnest seeking of the Lord and we thank God for a husband who intercedes so faithfully for his wife, his children, and his family, and for all of us in the body of Christ.

We agree with your heart that we must look first to the Word of God above the noise and pollution of the world, for it is written, Turn to the law and to the testimony If they don't speak according to this word, surely there is no morning for them Isa 8:20. Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work 2 Tim 3:16-17. God has indeed spoken to His people in many ways throughout history, and we rejoice that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever Heb 13:8, and that His arm is not shortened that it can't save Isa 59:1.

We also gently encourage discernment as we ask the Lord to speak through dreams, visions, prophecy, divine appointments, and signs. Scripture shows us God did speak in these ways to Joseph Matt 1:20, to the magi Matt 2:12, to Abimelech Gen 20:3, and to many others, and it is also written, It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams Acts 2:17, and For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God Rom 8:14, and My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me John 10:27. Yet we are also commanded to test the spirits, because many false prophets have gone out into the world 1 John 4:1, and to remember that even extraordinary experiences must be weighed against the sure Word of God, for where there is no wise guidance, the nation falls, but in the multitude of counselors there is victory Prov 11:14. We must never place a dream, vision, or sign above or against Scripture, but receive with thanksgiving what the Holy Spirit confirms through His Word, through godly counsel, and through the preaching of the Word.

We rejoice in your confidence in the power and intercession of Christ, for He is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them Heb 7:25, and Christ who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us Rom 8:34. We agree that we know You can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be restrained Job 42:2, that The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn't overcome it John 1:5, and that For nothing spoken by God is impossible Luke 1:37, and Jesus looking at them said, With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God Mark 10:27.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we come before Your throne of grace with thanksgiving. We thank You that You still speak and still lead Your people, and we ask You to speak clearly to this husband, to his wife, to their children, and to all our families, churches, pastors, and leaders. Open Your Word to us daily and give us ears to hear the Shepherd's voice. Where You give dreams or visions, we ask that You make them plain and confirm them by Your Word so we are not deceived. Lead us by Your Holy Spirit into all truth and keep us from temptation, sin, evil, wrongdoing, lies, fear, and deception, and deliver us from the evil one Matt 6:13, and guard us from the deceit of the last days Matt 24:4. We ask You to cover this marriage and family, that the husband would love his wife as Christ loved the church Eph 5:25, and that together they would walk in unity and holiness, raising their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord Eph 6:4. We pray for our churches and pastors to preach Your Word faithfully, and for our government leaders to seek wisdom and righteousness.

We bring all these requests to You with thanksgiving, as You have taught us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Phil 4:6-7. We thank You in advance, trusting that You hear us when we ask according to Your will 1 John 5:14, and that every promise is Yes in Christ 2 Cor 1:20. Keep us watching and discerning the signs of the times Matt 16:3, yet always anchored in Christ, until the sign of the Son of Man appears Matt 24:30. We ask all this in the saving and only name of Jesus, our Intercessor and Faithful Witness Rev 3:14, amen.

We hear the deep desire in your prayer for the Lord to speak clearly to you, your wife, your children and your whole family, and to keep you all close to Him and guarded from harm. That humble, childlike longing to hear His voice and to walk in His will together is beautiful, and we join you in it.

We thank God with you that He is a communicating God who has not left us to wonder. In our experience He loves to guide through the steady, ordinary ways you named, His Word dwelling in us as we read it daily, faithful preaching, the wisdom of trusted godly counsel, and the quiet inner nudges of His Spirit in everyday life, and at times in more striking ways as He chooses. When guidance is truly from Him, it stays in step with His truth and carries His character with it, love, peace, patience and gentleness, rather than confusion or pressure. That helps us weigh what we think we have heard.

In this season it may help to keep seeking Him together in a simple, consistent rhythm as a family, bringing the same requests before Him, staying rooted in Scripture, and talking through what you sense with a pastor or mature believer who knows you well and can help you discern next steps.

Father, we lift this husband, his wife and children and their extended family to You. Draw each one nearer to Jesus, keep them in Your care, and give them clear and gracious direction for the days ahead. Grant them unity, wisdom and quiet confidence as they follow You step by step. There is much in your prayer that stirs thankfulness, for you look to the Lord and to His Word, and you confess with holy confidence that He is able to save forever those who come to God through Jesus, because He lives to make intercession for us. That is the sure ground of our hope. Not our dreams, not our impressions, but Christ Himself, our great High Priest who ever lives to plead for His people. The blood of Jesus Christ, God's dear Son, cleanses us from all sin, and where God has justified, none can condemn.

Your desire to hear the Shepherd's voice is a right desire, for His sheep hear His voice and follow Him. Yet we must take heed how we hear. The mere letter of the Word alone will kill, but when we put our ear down to the promises of Scripture till we hear God speaking through them to our soul, then the Word has power which it could not possess otherwise. It is a blessed thing to hear God's voice speaking in it, with all the freshness and force as if it were uttered anew this night.

Therefore we would gently point you, and your wife and children and household, to the more sure word. To the law and to the testimony, as you have rightly quoted. If we speak according to Holy Scripture, it is as much God's Word as if God Himself spoke, but wherein we depart from it we have no light in us. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. It is while you are hearing the Gospel that you are led to believe it. No man gets saved by a careless or forgetful hearing, but by a constant, attentive, earnest hearing of the Word. The story of Him who died for sinners deserves most solemn hearing.

This is why the voice from the cloud said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, hear Him. The charm is not in seeking many voices, visions, signs in the heavens, or wonders to confirm us, but in hearing Christ. His voice is powerful and full of majesty. It is a commanding voice, a reproving voice, a dividing voice, and a comforting voice. No other voice will suffice unless He speak to us through His Word. We need not ask for new revelations as though Scripture were not enough, for God has spoken to us by His Son, and the Holy Spirit takes the things of Christ and shows them to us in the pages of truth, in the faithful preaching of the pulpit, in godly counsel that is according to Proverbs, and in the quiet dealings of Providence.

We do rejoice that God is sovereign and can do all things and no purpose of His can be thwarted, that light is stronger than darkness, and that what is impossible with man is possible with God. His arm is not shortened that it cannot save. Yet His ways we cannot guess, and even when we have seen them we cannot understand them. So we cry unto God with our voice, and He gives ear unto us, expecting deliverance from Him in His own way and time.

We join you then in prayer for your wife, your children, your family, your churches, pastors and all whom you have named, that the Lord would keep you from temptation, from evil, from deception and from the evil one, that He would deliver you from fear and establish you in the truth, that He would grant you that peace which passes all understanding as you make your requests known unto Him with thanksgiving. May you be kept as God's pupils, chastened but never cast out, learning His wondrous works and declaring them with pen and voice, and may you hear Christ and be content to let other voices go into silence.

We pray that you may have the hearing of faith, a personal and attentive hearing, receiving the Word not as the word of men but as it is in truth, the Word of God, and trusting simply in what Jesus is and did. May the Lord give you to use the means of grace diligently, to search the Scriptures daily, to hear the Gospel preached as God's voice to your soul, and to walk in the way of His commands.

We ask this in the name of Jesus, the Amen and Faithful Witness, in whom all the promises of God are Yes. Amen.

God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Your prayer for your wife, your children and your household has been received with thanksgiving, and we join you in looking to God and to His Word, for to the law and to the testimony we must go, as Isaiah teaches, and we rejoice that Jesus lives to make intercession for us and is able to save forever those who come to God through Him.

We hear your desire that God would speak to you and to your family by every means, and we share your confidence that nothing is impossible with God and that no purpose of His can be thwarted, and that light is stronger than darkness. At the same time we would counsel you with sober care about dreams and visions. The Scriptures show that God has at times spoken in dreams to Joseph, to the Magi, to others, and He is not short in power to save. Yet the ordinary and sure way He speaks now is through His written Word, through faithful preaching from the pulpit, through godly counsel where there is safety in a multitude of counselors, and through the quiet leading of the Holy Spirit who guides His people into holiness.

Our own teaching has long warned that dreams are often wild fancies and monstrous visions, like the imaginings of sleep. When the heart is stifled and the soul is disordered, sleep brings tossing and confusion. When the soul is orderly and watchful before God, sleep is composed and even dreams are not full of wild fancies. But in any case the things of this present life are like dreams, and we are called to awake from slumber, to put off imaginings and to shake off deep sleep, that we may walk as in the day, clothed in virtue and looking to the Sun of Righteousness, Jesus Christ. No one sleeping can see the sun as it is. So we urge you not to chase after signs in the heavens or to wait for an extraordinary vision to know His will, but to give yourself to what is certain: hearing the Shepherd's voice in Scripture, receiving the Word preached, seeking wise and faithful counsel, and living a wakeful, ordered life before Him.

We therefore pray with you according to the promises you have claimed. We thank God that in Christ all His promises are Yes and Amen, and we ask with you for His keeping power over you, your wife, your children, your churches, your pastors and those in authority, that He would keep you all from temptation, from evil, from deception and from the evil one, and that He would guard you from lies and fear. We pray that your marriage, as God ordained it from the beginning as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, would be strengthened and kept pure, and that your home would be ordered in faithfulness, with all intimacy and life together kept within that covenant as God intends for good. We pray that you would know salvation through Jesus Christ alone, and that your household would walk in that saving faith.

We ask that the Lord would make you wakeful and collected in heart, not stifled by excess but sober and ready, so that whether by day or by night you may be found ready for His work. And as you make your requests known to God with thanksgiving, we ask Him to grant you that peace which passes understanding to guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

May the Lord establish you in His Word, keep you from wrongdoing, and lead you in all wisdom and holiness until He comes.
