LORD, we ask for The Holy Spirit to speak to us in every way by abiding in You and Your Words abiding in us, John 15:7, abiding in Your love, John 15:10, Your Word as a lamp to our feet, and a light unto our path, Ps 119:105, To speak according to the Law and The Testimony, Isaiah 8:20, Holy Spirit Visions while Awake ️ Dreams While Sleeping, Job 33:12-17; Matt 2:12, Prophecy, Joel 2:28, Num 12:6, Acts 16:9... Father, we come as little children in faith, asking the goal of our instruction, Love from a pure heart, a sincere faith and a blameless conscience, 1 Tim 1:5. We look to You and Your Word, Isaiah 8:20, rather than to all we see and hear from the noise and pollution of the world, and thank You, "You are able to save forever those who come to God through Jesus, because He lives to make intercession for us," Heb 7:25, c.f. Rom 8:34.

We agree, Matt 18:19, with this husband for himself, his wayward wife, children, family, extended family, ***prayer & ministry partners, church leaders, churches and team members -- You speak to us by any and every ordinary and extraordinary means: give warning dreams, as it is written in Job 33:14, "For God does speak—now one way, now another—though no one perceives it. 15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on people, as they slumber in their beds, 16 He may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings, 17 to turn them from wrongdoing and keep them from pride, 18 to preserve them from the pit, their lives from perishing by the sword." Again, as with the affairs concerning our father, Abraham you warned Abimelech to keep him from death, Gen 20:3.

Like Abraham, we are imperfect but growing, and we believe Your promises, in fact we are fully persuaded You are able to fulfill what You promise, Rom 4:21, granting us everything we need for both life and godliness, 2 Peter 1:3-4. Pour out Your Holy Spirit on these named above, as prophesied in in Joel 2:28, “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old will dream dreams, your youth will see visions. 29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days," Joel 2:28-29, c.f. Acts 2:17-18. Father, with humble confidence, give her, them, us dreams and visions underlining your will for us in Christ Jesus, as You have done from ancient times on those saved Joseph, Matt 1:20, Magi, Matt 2:12, and unsaved alike, Abimelech, Gen 20:3, Laban to remain neutral regarding Jacob, Gen 31:24, Nebuchadnezzar, Dan 2:1, Dan 4:5, until present, Acts 19:6, and You will continue to though the future, Heb 13:8. Your arm is not too short, Num 11:23, especially to save, Isa 50:2, Isa 59:1.

Again, as little children, "we know You can do all things and no purpose of Yours can be thwarted,"Job 42:2 We agree with John, that light is stronger than darkness and not able to overcome it, John 1:5. We agree that "nothing shall be impossible with God," Luke 1:27, "The things impossible with man are possible with God," Mark 10:27. Keep her, him, us and our churches, families, friends, pastors and government leaders from temptation, sin, evil, wrongdoing, lies, fear, evil people, deception, and the evil one, Lk 11:4, 1 Cor 8:1, Zeph 3:13, 2 Cor 13:7, 2 Cor 11:6, 2 Tim 3:5, 2 Tim 3:13, Tit 1:16, 2 Thes 3:2, Matt 24:4, Rev 12:9, Matt 6:13, John 17:15, 2 Thes 3:3. With thanksgiving we let our requests be made known and claim Your incomprehensible peace as promised, Phil 4:6-7. We thank You in advance, Mark 11:24, Heb 11:6, Jesus' Name, The Amen, and Faithful Witness, Rev 3:14, in Jesus ALL Your promises are Yes, and therefore we say, Amen, 2 Cor 1:20...

We join together with you in this deep cry for the Holy Spirit to open our eyes and speak to us, and we agree with you before the Father in Jesus' name for this husband, his wayward wife, their children, family, extended family, prayer and ministry partners, church leaders and churches.

We thank God that He still opens minds to understand the Scriptures as it is written, Then he opened their minds, that they might understand the Scriptures, Luke 24:45, and that He gives a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, Eph 1:17. We agree with you that our first and final authority must be the Word of God, for Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path, Ps 119:105, and To the law and to the testimony, if they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them, Isa 8:20. We love your heart to abide in Christ and have His words abide in you, If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you, John 15:7, and to remain in His love, John 15:10. Any vision, dream, prophecy, divine appointment, godly counsel, or sense of leading must be tested by that Word, for we are also told, Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, 1 John 4:1, and the Holy Spirit will never contradict what He has already written.

We also affirm with you that God is sovereign and He can speak in any way He chooses, ordinary and extraordinary, to accomplish His purposes and to keep His people from sin. As you quoted, For God speaks once, yes twice, though man pays no attention, In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, in slumbering on the bed, Then he opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction, That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man, Job 33:14-17. We remember how God warned Abimelech in a dream, Gen 20:3, and how He warned Joseph, Matt 1:20, and the wise men, Matt 2:12, and gave Paul a vision in the night, Acts 16:9. And we cling to the promise, It will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions, Joel 2:28, which was poured out at Pentecost, Acts 2:17. We believe He still leads His children today, For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God, Rom 8:14, and My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me, John 10:27. We ask Him to do so for each one you have named, in perfect agreement with Scripture, to turn hearts from wrongdoing and preserve lives from the pit.

We lift up this marriage before the Lord, for we believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman before God, and we know that God hates the breaking of that covenant and desires reconciliation and holiness. We do not take lightly the word wayward, for it speaks of a heart turning from the Lord and from the vows made before Him. If there is fornication or adultery, or even the entertaining of another in heart or mind, we must lovingly rebuke it, for God calls His people to flee sexual immorality and to be faithful, and marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the bed undefiled, Heb 13:4. We pray that the Holy Spirit would bring deep conviction of sin, godly sorrow that leads to repentance, and a turning away from every form of pride, deception, and worldly pollution that has led her astray. We pray for this husband to remain steadfast, to love his wife as Christ also loved the church and gave himself up for her, Eph 5:25, not with bitterness or coercion, but with patient love, prayer, and truth, trusting God to do what is impossible with man.

Therefore we pray together, Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, through whom alone we have access to You and by whom alone we are saved, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12, we thank You that Jesus lives to make intercession for us, Heb 7:25, and that Your arm is not shortened that it cannot save, Isa 59:1. Pour out Your Spirit upon this husband, his wife, their children and all their household, upon their churches and leaders. Open their eyes, soften hardened hearts, grant repentance and restoration. Give warning dreams and visions if it pleases You, but above all give hunger for Your Word and obedience to it. Let the goal of our instruction be love out of a pure heart, a good conscience, and sincere faith, 1 Tim 1:5. Keep them all from temptation, from evil, from deception and from the evil one, Matt 6:13, John 17:15, and deliver them from every lie of the enemy who deceives the whole world, Rev 12:9. We claim Your peace that surpasses all understanding as we make our requests known to You with thanksgiving, Phil 4:6-7, and we thank You in advance, believing that whatever we ask in prayer, believing, we will receive, Mark 11:24. We trust that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, Eph 3:20, for with God all things are possible, Mark 10:27, and no purpose of Yours can be restrained, Job 42:2. We ask that You would heal this marriage for Your glory, that this family would be a testimony of Your redeeming power, and that light would overcome darkness, John 1:5, in Jesus' name, Amen.

We hear how deeply you want to stay close to Jesus and to hear Him clearly in this season for you, your wife, your children and your wider family. Wanting Him to lead through His Word, through preaching, through counsel and even through dreams is an honest, childlike dependence, and we are honored to stand with you in it.

One thing that has helped many who pray this way is to keep the ordinary and extraordinary together. As you continue abiding in Christ and letting His Word dwell in you daily, bring what you sense, whether a thought in prayer, a word from a sermon, advice from others, or a dream at night, to a few steady, biblically grounded people who know you and love your family. Testing what comes in community keeps you from carrying it alone and helps you see more clearly what is the Shepherd's leading.

We are also praying for your wife and children by name in the days ahead, for protection, for soft hearts, and for wisdom for you as a husband and father to walk faithfully one day at a time.

Father, we lift this husband and his wife and children to You. Draw each of them closer to Yourself, guard their hearts and home, and give this husband quiet confidence as he abides in You. Lead him with Your peace and wisdom, and keep this whole family in Your care. In Jesus' name we ask, amen.

There is a burden in your prayer which the Lord Himself has taught you to feel, a cry for your wife, your children, your household and the church, that the Holy Spirit would indeed abide and work and keep you all from evil. Such a prayer is not lost, for we have a great High Priest who lives to make intercession for us, and what comfort is this to any who are passing through deep waters, that you only go where Jesus has gone before you with His intercession. He has made provision for all your future in a prayer already presented, I have prayed for you.

You ask that the Lord would speak and warn and turn the wandering heart from wrongdoing and keep it from pride, to preserve from the pit. Be assured that immutable love is that Divine hammer which breaks the rock in pieces. Though a man should have sinned himself into great hardness of heart, yet almighty love can soften him. Who can resist the charms of Divine Grace unchangeable. We have seen this in Peter. He was down, but he was soon up again, and his story should rather be called Peter's restoration than Peter's fall. One look of Christ, a Divine hieroglyphic full of unutterable meanings, worked wonders where words had failed. That Divine Grace which saves a soul is not a noisy thing, neither is it visible to any but the receiver, yet it is mighty to restore.

You desire to be guided, and to have your wife and children guided, by every means of Divine leading. Remember that the Lord has given us a sure lamp. Your Word as a lamp to our feet and a light unto our path, and we are to speak according to the Law and the Testimony. The Psalmist took God for his Guide, and the way of that guidance is not by running after every voice and vision, but by great principles infused in every man who takes God for his Guide, among the rest, to avoid everything that is evil, to bow with submission to the Divine will, and to abide in Christ and let His Words abide in us. Wisdom, when attended with discourtesy and unfeeling roughness, may be shunned, but Divine Wisdom, dressed in robes of love and tenderness, invites us to run into her arms. Haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life, so wait upon the Lord in His Word, in prayer, in the counsel of godly pastors, and in the commonplace instrumentality by which the Divine Worker loves to work, for Christ has all the glory and all the more glory because He works by humble means.

We will pray with you and for you, agreeing as you have asked in Matthew 18:19, yet praying according to the revealed will of God.

We pray that you may abide in Christ and His Words abide in you, and abide in His love, bearing the goal of instruction which is love from a pure heart and a sincere faith and a blameless conscience. We pray for you as a husband, that you may be kept faithful to the lifelong covenant of marriage as God ordained for one man and one woman, loving your wife as Christ loves the church, not forsaking your vows. We pray for your wayward wife, that the Lord in Divine Sovereignty and mercy would grant her repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we must be saved, and would turn her from wrongdoing and keep her from temptation, from lies and deception and from the evil one, and restore her to the Lord and to her proper place in the home. We pray for your children and family and extended family, that they may be kept from evil and brought up in the nurture of the Lord. We pray that whatever the Lord does, whether by remarkable preservation or by quiet deliverance, you may be able to say, He has delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. And we ask for that peace which passes all understanding to guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus as you make your requests known unto God with thanksgiving.

There is no attribute more comforting than Divine Sovereignty. We must trace the hand of God in everything, and believe that He is able to do all things and that no purpose of His can be thwarted, and that with God nothing shall be impossible. Till He can falter, your spirit need not tremble, till Jesus sins, till Jesus dies, till He ceases to be Divine, the soul that trusts Him must be secure. Courage then, courage, for you shall be strong through Him that strengthens you.

Continue in the Word, continue in prayer, continue under faithful ministry. If there has been a general decay in Divine Grace within the soul, a loss of joy or peace or zeal, may the Lord restore you in answer to the prayer of Him that redeemed you, and make your life to be not for yourself alone, for Grace is never given to a man simply with an eye to himself, but that you may strengthen your brethren.

Your prayer has been received and I have heard your desire to abide in Christ and to have His words abide in you. This is good and right, for the Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path, and we are to speak according to the Law and the Testimony. When we abide in His love and let the goal of our instruction be love from a pure heart and a sincere faith and a blameless conscience, then we are kept from the noise and pollution of the world.

I rejoice that you look to Jesus who lives to make intercession for us and who is able to save forever those who come to God through Him. Hold fast to this, for salvation is through Him alone, and there is no other name by which we are saved. Continue to let your requests be made known to God with thanksgiving, trusting His incomprehensible peace.

Concerning the many ways you ask the Holy Spirit to speak, remember that God has given us His written Word as the sure test of all things. He does warn and turn people from wrongdoing and from pride to preserve them from the pit, as it is written in Job, and He can give warnings in the night. Yet the most certain voice is the Shepherd's voice heard in Scripture. When the heart is not stifled by excess and is kept in order by the fear of God, sleep is composed and regular and dreams are not full of wild fancies and monstrous visions. Seek first a sober and watchful soul, grounded in Scripture, constant in prayer like Anna who persevered in prayer, and diligent in every good work. Then you will not be led astray by every vision or feeling, but will be able to discern what is truly from God.

For you, a husband who prays for a wayward wife, children and family, hear this. Marriage is a bond ordained of God. It is honorable and pure, and it preserves the holiness which comes by faith by not permitting union with another. Follow peace with all men and holiness, which means chaste and orderly living in marriage, each living faithfully with his own spouse and not committing fornication. A harlotry is a severing and a dissolving of that bond, while marriage is the bond itself. Do not think marriage itself is the hindrance. It is not wine that makes drunkenness but the evil purpose and the use beyond due measure. So it is not marriage that hinders godliness, but the purpose that makes ill use of it. Use marriage with moderation and reverence, and it becomes a help toward the kingdom.

There is hope that the lost member may be saved through the marriage, for in the communion of marriage the two become one. Therefore do not quickly dissolve what God has joined. If your wife has wandered, your faithful love, your prayer, your chasteness and gravity and orderliness of life may by God's grace reclaim her. Let everything in your home be full of chasteness and gravity, not of uproar and confusion. Adorn your home not with display but with gentleness, modesty, and hospitality to those of good character and to the poor for Christ's sake. Invite Christ into your home and your marriage above all.

So I pray with you and agree with you according to the Scriptures. Father, in the name of Jesus, grant to this husband steadfastness to abide in Your Word and in Your love, to keep his heart pure and his conscience blameless. Grant to his wife a turning from wrongdoing and from pride, a hatred of sin and a love of holiness, that she may return to the covenant of marriage as one man and one woman for life, where alone intimacy belongs. Keep her and him and their children and families and churches from temptation, from lies and deception, from fear and from the evil one. Pour out Your Spirit to bring conviction, repentance and faith through Jesus Christ, and let Your Word dwell richly in them. Give them wisdom through godly counsel and through the preaching of the Word, and if You give warnings in the night let them be tested by Your Word and lead to repentance and life.

May God grant you to use your leisure and your life not for luxury but for prayer and service to the saints, keeping your hands pure and your heart wakeful. May He keep you from all evil and establish you in love, that you may see His promises fulfilled, for nothing is impossible with God and no purpose of His can be thwarted. We ask this in Jesus, the Amen and Faithful Witness, in whom all the promises of God are Yes.

Your desire to hear from God and to see His will done in your home is good, and your prayer reflects a heart that wants to abide in Christ and have His words abide in you. That abiding is the place where guidance becomes clear, because His word is a lamp for our feet and a light for our path, and everything we sense or hear must be measured by the law and the testimony of Scripture.

All Scripture is given by God as He moved holy men to write, and it has come to us from heaven. It will not return empty but will accomplish what He intends, and when a person reads it with an open heart it can plant faith where there was hardness. That is why any impression, counsel, dream, vision, or prophecy, whether it seems ordinary or extraordinary, must be tested. The true voice of God always exalts Jesus Christ and points to Him, for the Scriptures testify of Him and call us to come to Him for life. We are told to test the spirits, and the test is what they say about Jesus and whether they agree with the written word. One person can hear the same word and be deeply moved while another finds it dull, though both have ears to hear. Hearing is not the same as responding. As sheep know the voice of their shepherd and follow him and will not follow a stranger, so those who belong to Christ learn to recognize His voice as they walk in the Spirit.

You are praying for your wife and your children and family, and that burden is heavy. From the beginning God's design for marriage has been a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman. That remains His ideal and His intent when vows are made. Because of hardness of heart provision was made under the law for divorce, and the apostle later wrote that if an unbelieving spouse is not willing to remain, the believing one is not under bondage in that case, especially when the breach has come because of faith in Christ on one side and lack of faith on the other. Yet God's heart for restoration is also shown clearly. As Hosea was told to seek his broken and wayward wife and bring her back and restore her, so God speaks of restoring Israel as His wife, making the desolate more fruitful than before and bringing beauty where there were thorns and briars. He can restore, and His word working through the Spirit can make a life rich and full, but He will not force anyone to be saved or to walk with Him. If a person does not want to be with Him, He allows that choice, though that choice brings its own misery. God does not create the misery, people choose it when they turn away.

In this painful place you may find that love in your own strength is impossible, and that is a common experience. It is right to pray, Lord, You require me to love, but I cannot do it on my own, and to ask Him to work His love in your heart and change your attitude. That is how His love is made mature in us. The life we have in His Son is a life of righteousness and peace and joy, and as you increase in the knowledge of His love and grace and walk in the Spirit, that love for God and for others will flow more freely. The Holy Spirit is received by faith as a gift, not by our worthiness or by works, and having begun in the Spirit we are not made complete by our own effort. His promises to bless and to provide all that we need for life and godliness are entered into through faith in Jesus.

The purpose of prayer is always to see God's will accomplished on earth. To pray according to His will is to ask that His desires and purposes be done in your wife, in your children, in your extended family and in those who lead and minister among you. God does speak, now in one way, now in another, and at times He has warned people in dreams at night to turn them from wrong and keep them from pride and preserve them from the pit, as with Abimelech or with Joseph and the wise men or even with those outside the faith like Laban and Nebuchadnezzar. He can still give such warnings, and He can lead by His Spirit and by godly counsel and by preaching, but every such leading must be weighed against Scripture and must lead toward Christ.

Hardship in your family is not necessarily a sign that God is judging you. Often He is working out a long range plan that we cannot see at the time, as He did when Joseph was imprisoned, a place that later proved to be part of God's design to preserve many. Looking back we can often see His hand and purpose in experiences that were painful at the moment. As long as you are seeking to fulfill His purpose, your times are in His hands and He will sustain you as long as He intends.

Continue to pray that all of you would be kept from temptation and evil and deception and fear, and that you would be given that peace which goes beyond understanding as you make your requests known with thanksgiving. Pray that your wife would have an open heart to the word, that light would overcome darkness in her life, and that nothing would be seen as impossible with God while still trusting that His will be done. And may you grow in understanding of His love and walk in the Spirit, with the evidence of His presence seen in love for God and for each other.
