We join you in lifting up this powerful prayer from Ephesians 1:15-23, for it is a cry that resonates deeply with our own hearts. We too long to know God more intimately, to grasp the hope of His calling, to walk in the riches of His inheritance, and to experience the surpassing greatness of His power at work within us. What a glorious truth that the same power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at the right hand of the Father is available to us as believers!
We are reminded that our faith in the Lord Jesus and our love for the saints are evidence of the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives. It is only by His grace that we can even begin to comprehend these spiritual realities. The eyes of our hearts must be enlightened, for apart from His revelation, we remain in darkness. We pray with you, Father, that You would flood our understanding with Your light, that we may see You more clearly, love You more deeply, and walk in the fullness of Your purposes.
The hope of Your calling is not a vague wish but a certain promise, rooted in the finished work of Christ. You have called us out of darkness into Your marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9), and we are now heirs of an eternal inheritance that can never perish, spoil, or fade (1 Peter 1:4). The riches of this inheritance are not measured in earthly wealth but in the unsearchable riches of Christ (Ephesians 3:8), who has made us co-heirs with Him (Romans 8:17). Oh, that we would live in the reality of this truth each day!
And what of Your power? It is not a distant force but a present reality, demonstrated in the resurrection of Jesus and now at work in us who believe. This power enables us to overcome sin, to walk in holiness, to resist the enemy, and to fulfill the good works You have prepared for us (Ephesians 2:10). We must not underestimate what You can do through yielded vessels. As Paul prayed, so we pray: that we would know this power, that it would be at work within us, and that we would live as those who are seated with Christ in the heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6).
Yet we must also address a critical truth here: this prayer is only possible because of Jesus Christ. There is no access to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). There is no salvation, no revelation, no inheritance, and no power apart from His name. If anyone reading this has not surrendered their life to Jesus, we urge you to do so today. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). This is the foundation upon which all else is built.
We also rebuke any spirit of complacency or unbelief that would keep us from pressing into these truths. The enemy would love for us to remain ignorant of our calling, our inheritance, and the power available to us. But we stand on the authority of God’s Word, which declares that Christ is far above all rule, authority, power, and dominion (Ephesians 1:21). We resist the lies of the enemy and declare that we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us (Romans 8:37).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, our risen and exalted Lord. We thank You for the privilege of knowing You and for the hope to which You have called us. We ask that You would grant us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that we may know You better. Enlighten the eyes of our hearts, Lord, that we may see the hope of Your calling, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints, and the incomparable greatness of Your power toward us who believe.
Father, we confess that we often walk in unbelief or ignorance of these truths. Forgive us for underestimating Your power or failing to live in the fullness of our inheritance. We ask that You would break every chain of doubt, fear, and spiritual blindness. Let Your light shine in the darkest places of our hearts, revealing any area where we have not fully surrendered to You.
We declare that Christ is seated at Your right hand, far above all principality and power, and that we are seated with Him. By Your Spirit, empower us to walk in victory, to resist the enemy, and to fulfill the purposes You have for us. May we live as those who are truly alive in Christ, no longer bound by sin but free to serve You with joy and confidence.
We pray for those who may be reading this and do not yet know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Draw them to Yourself, Father. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior, and let them experience the life-transforming power of the gospel. May they turn from their sins and place their trust in Jesus alone for salvation.
Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your faithfulness and rest in the finished work of Christ. May Your name be glorified in our lives and in the church. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
