Hit by a car and court dates

Thank you for sharing this heavy burden and for allowing us to pray with you. We have heard your heart for your son and we are joining you before the Lord who is pitiful and merciful, long suffering and of great mercy, and whose mercy is over all the earth.

We pray for your son after this terrible accident. To be struck with such force that his head broke the windshield and then struck the street again, to lose consciousness and yet be able to get up, is a sign of the Lord's preserving mercy. We ask God to bring complete healing to his concussion and to his injured leg, to ease his pain as he limps, and to restore his strength fully. We also pray for his daily provision. It grieves us to hear that he struggles to reach the soup kitchen and that some days, like today, he goes without food. We ask the Father who relieves the poor and the fatherless to open doors for steady nourishment and for help nearby, and to provide for every bodily need in a way that gives health and not wantonness, but true strength to live for Him.

We also lift up his upcoming court dates. We ask the Lord to show favor and mercy there. Scripture teaches that mercy is more than being spared from punishment, for God in His grace also desires to make us righteous and to bring us to Himself through faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. So we pray not only for mercy in the courtroom, but for your son to know the greater mercy of God that reconciles us when we were enemies and calls us to walk in faith. May he and all involved come to confess their way before the Lord and find grace that is abundantly beyond mere deliverance.

We pray too for your own trial with the DMV paperwork after your move. We understand how complicated, time consuming and frustrating this has become, and how the weight of concern for your son makes it heavier still. We ask God to grant you patience, clarity and favor with those in authority, and to make a way through what now seems tangled.

Prayer is a great good and a preservative for our souls, and God delights to hear it when we come with a sincere heart and also seek to live in a way worthy of His mercy. As we ask mercy for ourselves and our children, we are called also to show mercy to our neighbors, for blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

We will continue to pray for you both, that God will bless you, heal your son, provide for his needs, grant wisdom and mercy in the courts, and give you peace and resolution in this paperwork. We ask all this in the matchless name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and access to the Father.

Thank you for sharing your heart so openly and for allowing us to pray with you. The weight you carry for your son is clear, and we join you in thanking God that his life was spared in such a serious accident. To be struck with enough force to break a windshield and strike the ground and yet to be able to get up and walk away without broken bones is a mercy, and we do not take it lightly. At the same time we recognize how serious a concussion and a painful leg injury are, and how hard it is to watch your son struggle to walk and even to get enough to eat on the days he cannot make it for a meal.

We are praying for his healing. God cares about the health of His people and has shown that care in giving wisdom for practical steps toward restoration, including rest, nourishment, and proper care for the body. We ask the Lord to bring complete healing to your son's head and leg, to ease his pain, to give wisdom to any who care for him, and to provide steady daily provision for his needs. Scripture reminds us that God made provision for His people so they would not suffer the same fate as those around them, and that He remembered their tears in bondage and covered them through the blood of the lamb. In the same way, through Jesus Christ we have confidence that God sees His children and provides for them. We pray He will open doors for food and help to come to your son even on the days when walking is difficult, so he will not be left without what he needs.

We are also praying for favor and mercy in his upcoming court dates and for help with your paperwork after your move. The frustration and time that complicated legal and government processes can take is very real, and God understands the burden of those systems. Moses himself knew what it was to be familiar with the courts of power and also to feel the weight of acting as a judge for matters too difficult for others to settle, and at times that weight became heavy. The Lord is able to give favor even in the sight of those who hold authority. We see in Scripture how God gave His people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that those who had held them in hard bondage treated them with respect and even supplied what they needed, and they did not leave empty handed. Moses himself became respected in the eyes of those in that court. We pray that same kind of favor over your son before any judge or official, that there would be fairness, mercy, and a just outcome, and over your own situation with the paperwork, that what is tangled would be made clear and resolved without further delay.

Like the mother who by faith placed her child in a small ark on the water when she could no longer protect him by her own power, you are entrusting your son to the Lord when you cannot be present to meet every need yourself. That act of faith honors God, and He is faithful to watch over what is committed to Him. We pray He will strengthen your heart, lift the heaviness you feel, and remind you daily that He holds both you and your son in His care. May He provide healing, daily bread, and favor before those in authority, and may you know His peace as you continue to trust Him in the matchless name of Jesus.
