We join you in prayer as the winds are picking up and we thank you for calling on the name of Jesus, for it is in His name that we have access to the Father and find our refuge.
We are reminded that the wind and the waves obey Him. Mark 4:39 says, He awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace! Be still! The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And Psalm 107:29 says, He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still. Even when the winds roar, we know that Yahweh has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, Nahum 1:3, and nothing is outside of His sovereign hand.
We also take comfort that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, Psalm 46:1, and He tells us, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness, Isaiah 41:10.
We pray together for you now.
Father, we come before Your throne together in the mighty name of Jesus. We acknowledge Your power over all creation, over every wind and storm. We ask for Your mercy and protection over this area as the winds increase. Lord, speak peace to the wind as You did on the sea, and calm this storm according to Your perfect will. We pray for a hedge of protection around lives, homes, and property. Keep all who are in the path of these high winds safe from harm, from falling trees, power lines, and damage. Give wisdom to all to take sensible precautions and to look out for one another, and let Your peace that surpasses all understanding guard hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. We trust You as our shelter and our strong tower, and we rest in Your care. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to stay safe, to heed wise counsel and warnings, and to keep your eyes on Him who never slumbers nor sleeps. May the Lord keep you in perfect peace as you trust in Him through this storm.
