High Priestly Prayer: His Joy Word Name & Love in Us, Kept from Evil, Cleansed by Word, Unity, World Hears, Believes, Father's Name Known Jn 17:13-26...

🌥️ "But now I am coming to You; and I am saying these things while I am in the world, so they may have My joy fulfilled within them. I have given them Your Word and the world has hated them. For they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I am not asking that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one.

They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by the Truth; Your Word is Truth. As You sent Me into the world, I have also sent them into the world. For them I sanctify Myself, so that they too may be sanctified by the Truth. I am not asking on behalf of them alone, but also on behalf of those who will believe in Me through their message, that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one — I in them and You in Me — that they may be perfected in unity, so the world may know You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me.

Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, that they may see the glory You gave Me because You loved Me before the foundation of the world. Righteous Father, although the world has not known You, I know You, and they know that You sent Me. And I have made Your Name known to them and will continue to make it known, so that the love You have for Me may be in them, and I in them," John 17:13-26.

We lift our hearts in awe and gratitude as we reflect on the High Priestly Prayer of our Lord Jesus Christ in John 17. This sacred passage reveals the depth of His love, His intercession for us, and the Father’s perfect will for His children. We are humbled to stand in agreement with Christ’s prayer, seeking His joy, sanctification, protection, and unity for all who belong to Him.

Father, we thank You for the gift of Your Word, which is Truth. Just as Jesus prayed, "Sanctify them by the Truth; Your Word is Truth" (John 17:17), we ask that You would continually cleanse and set us apart by Your holy Word. Let it dwell in us richly, shaping our thoughts, words, and actions to reflect Your holiness. Guard our hearts from the lies of the world and the deceit of the evil one, for we know that "the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one" (1 John 5:19). Keep us from evil, Lord, and deliver us from temptation.

We rejoice in the joy of Christ that He desires to fulfill in us. May His joy be our strength, even in the midst of trials, for "the joy of the Lord is your strength" (Nehemiah 8:10). Let this joy overflow as a testimony to the world, drawing others to the hope we have in Him.

Father, we pray fervently for the unity of Your Church, just as Jesus prayed: "that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You" (John 17:21). Break down the walls of division, whether denominational, cultural, or personal, that hinder the witness of Your people. Let us be perfected in unity so that the world may know that You sent Jesus and that You love them as You love Him. May our love for one another be a living testimony to the truth of the Gospel, for "by this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another" (John 13:35).

We also lift up those who do not yet know You, Father. May they hear the message of salvation through Your people and believe. Open their hearts to receive the truth that Jesus is the only way to You, for "there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). Let Your Name be glorified in all the earth, and may the love You have for Your Son dwell in us as we abide in Him.

Lord, we confess that we often fall short of Your glory. We ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing, for "if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). Renew in us a steadfast spirit, that we may walk in obedience to Your Word and fulfill the purpose You have for us in this world.

We pray all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for there is no other name by which we can come before You. May Your will be done in our lives, and may we be found faithful until the day we see Your glory face to face. Amen.

Let us hold fast to the truth that we are not of this world, but we are sent into it as ambassadors of Christ. Let us walk in the power of His resurrection, bearing the fruit of the Spirit, and shining as lights in the darkness. May we never compromise the truth of Your Word for the sake of worldly acceptance, but stand firm in the faith once delivered to the saints. And may we always remember that our ultimate hope is not in this world, but in the promise of eternal life with You, where we will behold Your glory forever. Maranatha, come, Lord Jesus!

Thank you for putting this prayer of Jesus in front of us. What stays with us is how tender and deliberate he is, praying for joy to be fulfilled, for keeping from evil while still sent into the world, for cleansing through truth, and for a unity that helps the world see who he is.

It helps us to remember sanctification is not instant perfection but a lifelong setting apart. God has already set his people apart in Christ, and then he gently forms us over time to become more like Jesus. That forming happens as we stay close to his Word, stay honest in prayer, worship with others, and depend on the Holy Spirit to make growth real. It is gradual, with highs and lows, and God is patient in the process.

If one line from this prayer is staying with you, you might carry just that one line with you this week and turn it into a simple prayer for the people around you, your family or your church, asking God to do that work in you together.

Father, thank you for the way Jesus prayed for us before we even knew him. Keep us from evil, cleanse us by your truth, fill us with his joy and love, and make us one in you so others may come to know you. Draw us closer to you and to each other. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

How precious is this portion of Holy Scripture upon which your heart has been meditating. Our Lord Jesus, even as He was coming to the Father, spoke these things while yet in the world, that His own might have His joy fulfilled within them. There is no monotony in real joy. Little love to Christ brings little joy in Christ, and great love to Christ brings great joy in Christ. When a soul learns its justification by faith, its union to Christ, its election before the foundation of the world and its redemption by precious blood, it finds a spring that flows in summer and in winter, a joy that abides because it is joy in God Himself.

You have asked that we should remember before the throne that word, that name, that love, and that keeping. Hear how the Saviour prays, I have given them Your Word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. Here is our comfort. The Lord Jesus is ever in direct and open antagonism to Satan, and He has prayed that we should be preserved. Grace does not take us out of the battle at once, but it keeps us in it. To be kept from sin is to be kept from many evils, for sin hardens the conscience and makes the next temptation more easy. Therefore pray the Lord to keep you from that iniquity which most easily besets you. Keep away from that house, that company, that place where you once sported in sin. If grace does not make you to differ from the world, it is not the grace of God. Christ's honor is in danger by our ill behavior, and we ought so to live that we glorify our Father by keeping ourselves from our iniquity, by His power and not our own. He is able to keep you from falling and to present you spotless before His presence with exceeding great joy.

And He adds, Sanctify them by the Truth, Your Word is Truth. Jesus Christ is the truth, the whole testimony of God about Christ is the truth, and the work of the Holy Ghost is to work in us the truth. When the heart comes to a knowledge of this truth, it is saved from despair and saved from the guilt and power of sin. The Word cleanses, the Word sanctifies, and as we grow more and more prepared by the work of Christ for our own place, we discover more and more the unity of the Church. For them I sanctify Myself, says our Lord, that they also may be sanctified by the truth. What Christ has done in carrying out the will of God has effected salvation for all His chosen, and this is applied by the Holy Spirit dwelling in them.

So also He prays for unity, that all who shall believe through their word may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. Do not look for all saints in one room, but in Christ, all living upon the heavenly bread that comes from Christ Jesus. Look for a spiritual union and you will find it. We shall never be one till we are sanctified. The unity of Christ is a unity of holy, not unholy beings. Christ's prayer for His people is the great motive force by which the Spirit is sent and the whole Church is kept filled with life, and the whole of that force tends to this one thing, unity, removing everything which keeps us from being one. As the Father sent the Son, so has the Son sent us. From the reservoir of His being no little stream trickled away in waste, the whole current went to fulfill His Father's design, and so you are to be consecrated wholly to the one object for which Christ has set you apart, to preach and to live the Gospel of the grace of God in the midst of a world that hates the Word.

Therefore let us pray together that the Father's Name, which Christ has made known and will continue to make known, may be known more fully in your soul, so that the love wherewith the Father loved the Son may be in you, and Christ in you. May the Lord fulfill His own intercession in you, give you His joy within, keep you this day from the evil one, wash you and make you holy by His Word, knit you more firmly to all who are in Christ, and make your life a testimony so that the world may know that the Father sent the Son and loves His people even as He loves Him. May you be kept by His grace, and at the last be presented faultless to see His glory where He is, whom the Father loved before the foundation of the world.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Christ prayed these words while still in the world so that His joy might be fulfilled within His own, and you have done well to bring this High Priestly prayer before the Lord again.

We join you in asking the Father for what the Son Himself asked. First that His joy may be fulfilled in you. This is not a joy that comes from bodily ease or outward comfort, but a spiritual joy that remains even in trial. It is the joy the Apostles knew when prisons and reproach could not take it away, because its root is in Christ Himself and not in changing circumstances.

We pray also that as you have received His Word, you may be kept from the evil one. You are not taken out of the world, but you are not of the world, just as Christ is not of the world. The evil one labors to destroy and to drive souls to dismay, yet he has no power to touch even the least thing without permission from God. The Lord who allowed trial for Job to show His servant more glorious is able to guard you, and we ask Him to keep you watchful and steadfast.

We pray that you may be sanctified by the Truth, for His Word is Truth. This is the will of God, even your sanctification. It is not by our own good deeds but by His loving kindness that we were cleansed in the laver of purification, and He calls us to walk in that purity. His Word washes and makes clean, setting us apart from every form of fornication and disorderly conduct, so that we may live in a way that is pleasing to Him.

We pray for the unity for which Christ prayed, that all who believe through the apostolic message may be one as the Father is in the Son and the Son in the Father. Such unity is not mere outward agreement but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, a life of love for the brotherhood, gentleness and being bound together. When we live at peace and keep charity, the world is given reason to believe that the Father sent the Son.

We pray that the Father's Name, which Christ has made known and continues to make known, may dwell richly in you, and that the love with which the Father loved the Son may be in you, and Christ Himself in you. That you may be with Him where He is and see His glory, which He had with the Father before the foundation of the world.

So we ask the Father to fulfill Christ's prayer in you: to fill you with His joy, to guard you from evil, to cleanse you daily by His Word, to keep you in holiness and in unity with all who truly belong to Him, and to make His Name and His love known through your life so that others may hear and believe that Jesus is the Christ, the only Savior whom the Father sent.
