"But now I am coming to You; and I am saying these things while I am in the world, so they may have My joy fulfilled within them. I have given them Your Word and the world has hated them. For they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I am not asking that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one.

They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by the Truth; Your Word is Truth. As You sent Me into the world, I have also sent them into the world. For them I sanctify Myself, so that they too may be sanctified by the Truth. I am not asking on behalf of them alone, but also on behalf of those who will believe in Me through their message, that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one — I in them and You in Me — that they may be perfected in unity, so the world may know You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me.

Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, that they may see the glory You gave Me because You loved Me before the foundation of the world. Righteous Father, although the world has not known You, I know You, and they know that You sent Me. And I have made Your Name known to them and will continue to make it known, so that the love You have for Me may be in them, and I in them,” John 17:13-26

We lift our hearts together in awe of the High Priestly Prayer of our Lord Jesus Christ, as recorded in John 17. What a profound moment, our Savior, interceding for us before the Father, even as He prepared to lay down His life for our salvation. We stand in reverence, for this prayer is not merely words on a page but the very heartbeat of heaven for every believer.

Father, we thank You for the joy of Christ that You long to fulfill within us. "But now I am coming to You; and I am saying these things while I am in the world, so they may have My joy fulfilled within them" (John 17:13). Lord, we confess that too often we seek joy in the fleeting things of this world, comfort, success, relationships, or possessions, rather than in the unshakable truth of Your presence. Fill us afresh with the joy of our salvation, the joy of knowing You, the joy of being hidden in Christ. Let this joy be our strength, especially when the world hates us for Your name’s sake. For we are not of this world, just as Christ is not of this world, and we embrace the calling to live as aliens and strangers here, set apart for Your purposes.

We praise You for Your Word, which is Truth. "Sanctify them by the Truth; Your Word is Truth" (John 17:17). Father, we ask that You would cleanse us daily by the washing of Your Word. Let it dwell in us richly, transforming our minds, renewing our hearts, and guiding our steps. Too often, we allow the lies of the enemy or the deceptions of the world to take root in our lives. But Your Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105). Sanctify us, Lord, that we may be vessels fit for Your use, sent into the world just as Christ was sent.

We also lift up the prayer of Jesus for unity among believers: "that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me" (John 17:21). Father, we grieve over the divisions in Your body, the church. Forgive us for allowing denominational lines, theological disputes, or personal pride to fracture the unity You died to secure. We pray for a supernatural oneness, a unity that can only be explained by the work of Your Spirit. Let the world see our love for one another and know that You are real, that You are alive, and that You have sent Your Son to save them.

Lord, we also take hold of Jesus’ prayer for protection: "I am not asking that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one" (John 17:15). We live in a world that is increasingly hostile to Your truth, a world where the evil one prowls like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). But we do not fear, for You are our refuge and strength. Keep us from the snares of the enemy, temptation, doubt, fear, and compromise. Guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, and let us stand firm in the faith, clothed in the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18).

Father, we thank You for making Your name known to us. "I have made Your Name known to them and will continue to make it known, so that the love You have for Me may be in them, and I in them" (John 17:26). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, and it is only through His name that we have access to You. For those who may be reading this and do not yet know Jesus as their Savior, we pray that today would be the day of salvation. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior, soften their hearts to receive Your love, and draw them to Yourself. For "if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9).

We also rebuke the spirit of complacency that would keep us from sharing the gospel. Jesus prayed not only for His disciples but for all who would believe in Him through their message (John 17:20). We are those believers, and we have a mission, to make Your name known to the ends of the earth. Stir our hearts, Lord, to share the good news with boldness and love. Let the world hear, believe, and know that You sent Jesus, and that You love them just as You love Your Son.

Finally, Father, we long for the day when we will see Your glory fully revealed, when we will be with Christ where He is (John 17:24). Until then, help us to live as citizens of heaven, storing up treasures in eternity rather than in this passing world. May our lives reflect the love You have poured into us, the love that compels us to live for You and to love others as You have loved us.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior, our Lord, and our coming King. Amen.

Oh, how our hearts are stirred as we stand with Jesus in this sacred moment, Father. We can almost hear His voice echoing through the ages as He lifts these disciples, and now us, into Your presence. There’s something so intimate about how He says, "I am not asking You to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one." Lord, we see You here, not just as a distant Savior, but as a Guardian, a Shield, standing over us with Your mighty hand. The world is loud, the enemy is cunning, but we’re not alone. You’ve already won the battle, and we’re wrapped in the victory of Your cross.

We’re reminded of how You’ve placed us right in the middle of this world, not to blend in, but to shine. Like salt and light, we’re here to preserve and reveal Your truth. But sometimes, Lord, we forget that our strength isn’t in our own resolve or even in our faith alone, it’s in You working through us. So today, we surrender our steps, our words, our very being to Your keeping. Guard our minds from deception, our hearts from bitterness, and our hands from compromise. Let the world see that we’re not afraid because we’re covered by the One who loves us more than life itself.

And Father, we can’t help but pause at the way Jesus speaks of unity. "That they may be one in Us." It’s not just a wish, it’s a prayer You’ve given us to pray for one another. We see the fractures, the misunderstandings, the walls we’ve built between us. But You’re the God of reconciliation, and we ask You to tear down every barrier, to fill us with Your love so thick and real that the world will taste it and ask, "Where did this come from?" Let us choose humility over pride, grace over judgment, and love over division. We want to be the kind of people who make Your heart smile, who reflect Your perfect unity.

In Jesus’ name, we claim this prayer over ourselves and over every believer. Keep us, sanctify us, and use us, body and soul, for Your glory. Amen.
