Beloved Servant
"But now I am coming to You; and I am saying these things while I am in the world, so they may have My joy fulfilled within them. I have given them Your Word and the world has hated them. For they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I am not asking that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one.

They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by the Truth; Your Word is Truth. As You sent Me into the world, I have also sent them into the world. For them I sanctify Myself, so that they too may be sanctified by the Truth. I am not asking on behalf of them alone, but also on behalf of those who will believe in Me through their message, that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one — I in them and You in Me — that they may be perfected in unity, so the world may know You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me.

Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, that they may see the glory You gave Me because You loved Me before the foundation of the world. Righteous Father, although the world has not known You, I know You, and they know that You sent Me. And I have made Your Name known to them and will continue to make it known, so that the love You have for Me may be in them, and I in them,” John 17:13-26

We stand in awe of the High Priestly Prayer of our Lord Jesus Christ, where He intercedes for us before the Father, revealing the depth of His love, the power of His Word, and the unity we are called to in Him. This passage is a profound reminder of our identity in Christ, our sanctification through the Truth, and the mission we share as believers—to make the Father’s name known to the world.

First, we rejoice in Christ’s desire for His joy to be fulfilled in us. This joy is not fleeting or dependent on circumstances but rooted in our relationship with Him. As He says, *"These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full"* (John 15:11). Let us hold fast to this joy, even in trials, knowing it is a testimony to the world of the hope we have in Him.

We are also reminded that we are not of this world, though we are sent into it. Christ does not ask the Father to remove us from the world but to keep us from the evil one. This is a call to vigilance, prayer, and dependence on God’s Word, which is truth and sanctifies us. *"Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path"* (Psalm 119:105). We must immerse ourselves in Scripture, allowing it to cleanse, guide, and protect us from the snares of the enemy.

The unity Christ prays for is not merely organizational or superficial but a reflection of the oneness of the Father and the Son. *"That they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that you sent me"* (John 17:21). This unity is a powerful witness to the world, demonstrating the love and truth of the Gospel. Let us guard against division, pride, and selfishness, striving instead for humility, love, and harmony in the body of Christ.

We are also called to make the Father’s name known. This is not just a task for pastors or missionaries but for every believer. We are ambassadors of Christ, commissioned to share the good news of salvation through His name. *"There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12). If we do not lift up the name of Jesus in our prayers, conversations, or actions, we miss the very purpose for which we are saved.

Let us also reflect on the love of the Father, which Christ desires to be in us. This love is not sentimental but sacrificial, mirroring the love Christ demonstrated on the cross. *"By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers"* (1 John 3:16). This love compels us to live holy lives, to forgive others, and to extend grace as we have received it.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for the High Priestly Prayer of Your Son, which reveals Your heart for us. Lord, fill us with the joy of Christ, that it may overflow in our lives and draw others to You. Keep us from the evil one, and sanctify us by Your Word, which is truth. Unite us as one body in Christ, that the world may see Your love and believe in Jesus.

Father, we confess that at times we have allowed division, sin, or worldliness to creep into our lives. Forgive us, and cleanse us by the blood of Jesus. Help us to walk in holiness, to love one another deeply, and to make Your name known in all we do. May Your love be in us, and may we abide in Christ as He abides in You.

We pray for those who do not yet know You, that they would hear the Gospel, believe, and be saved. Use us as vessels to share the truth of Jesus Christ, that many may come to faith. May Your kingdom come, and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
