Your cry for help has been heard, and I am praying with you right now in this frightening moment for your eyes.
It is understandable to be scared when your sight is threatened and inflammation brings pain and uncertainty. Fear itself can quickly take hold when we focus on the problem in front of us. Scripture shows that fear and faith cannot live together in the same place. When fear is allowed to grow, faith fades, and when faith is strengthened, fear is driven out. One of the clearest pictures of this is Peter walking on the water toward Jesus. As long as his eyes were on the Lord he walked in faith, but when he looked at the wind and the waves, fear gripped him and he began to sink. In the same way, remembering the Lord is the cure for fear. David said, though I walk through the valley of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me. Fear comes when we forget His presence, and peace returns when we remember that He is with us.
The Bible also speaks of another kind of fear, the reverent awe of God. This is not a phobia, but a deep respect for who He is, His greatness and power and love. That awe is described as the beginning of wisdom and knowledge, the starting place and the sum of true understanding. It is a desire to love what God loves and to hate what is evil, and to trust Him with our lives. When we turn to Him in that reverent trust, He becomes our confidence. The psalm says the Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear, the Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid. And again, those who fear the Lord in this reverent way are promised His care, that He will not withhold what is needed and will keep our feet from being taken.
I also want you to know how tender and compassionate Jesus is toward those who suffer. The Gospels show Him again and again healing the sick who were brought to Him, bearing our infirmities as Isaiah foretold. I believe fully in His power to heal, and I also know that His healing comes in different ways. Sometimes it is instant, sometimes it is gradual through the natural processes He Himself built into our bodies. Every true healing is divine, whether it comes in a moment or step by step, because He is the author of life and of those processes. Please do not think that sickness or the need for continued prayer means you lack faith. Sickness is not a measure of spiritual weakness.
Let me pray for you now.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ I bring this dear one before You. You see the fear and the inflammation affecting these eyes, and You know every detail of this need. We ask for Your mercy and Your healing touch. Please calm the inflammation, restore clear sight, and guide the hands of any doctors and treatment You choose to use. We ask for Your peace to replace fear, for strong faith to rise as we keep our eyes on Jesus rather than on the problem. Help this heart to rest in reverent trust in You, knowing You are present, You are compassionate, and You are able. Let Your comfort be felt today, and let Your will be done in healing, whether quickly or gradually. We trust You as our light and our strength. Amen.
Keep looking to Jesus and remembering His nearness throughout each day. He has not hidden His face from those who cry to Him, but hears when they call. May He keep you in His peace and be your confidence while you wait on His healing.
