We hear your cry for help in this time of distress, and we stand with you before the throne of grace, lifting your burdens to our Heavenly Father. It is understandable that the weight of a potential lawsuit concerning your housing would cause anxiety and steal your peace, even affecting your appetite and daily routines. But we remind you—and ourselves—that our God is a refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). He does not intend for you to carry this burden alone, nor does He desire for fear to dominate your heart or your habits.
First, we must address the despair that has taken root in your spirit. The enemy seeks to use worry as a weapon to rob you of joy, peace, and even your physical health. Jesus Himself warned us against being consumed by anxiety, saying, *"Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing?... But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well"* (Matthew 6:25, 33). Your focus must shift from the threat of the lawsuit to the promises of God. He knows your needs, and He is able to sustain you—body, soul, and spirit.
We also rebuke the spirit of fear that seeks to paralyze you. Scripture is clear: *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control"* (2 Timothy 1:7). You are not powerless in this situation. While the threat of a lawsuit is serious, you must remember that God is your ultimate defender and provider. He sees the injustice, and He is able to turn what was meant for harm into good (Genesis 50:20). We encourage you to cast your cares upon Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). This does not mean ignoring the practical steps you may need to take—such as seeking legal counsel or preparing your defense—but it does mean releasing the weight of this burden into God’s hands.
Now, let us pray for you. Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. We lift up our brother/sister who is facing the threat of a lawsuit and the anxiety that comes with it. Lord, You are the God who sees and knows all things. You know the details of this situation, and You are not caught off guard by it. We ask that You would grant our brother/sister peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Replace their fear with faith, their despair with hope, and their worry with trust in You.
Father, we pray for their physical health as well. You have given us food as a gift to sustain us, and we ask that You would restore their appetite. Give them the motivation to shop for nourishing food and the desire to eat, not out of obligation, but as an act of stewardship over the body You have given them. Help them to break free from the cycle of worry that has stolen their joy in simple pleasures like a meal. Remind them that even in the midst of trials, You provide manna in the wilderness—daily bread for their needs (Exodus 16:4).
Lord, we also pray for wisdom and discernment regarding this legal matter. If there are steps they need to take, reveal them clearly. If there are people they need to seek out for help, open those doors. But above all, let them rest in the knowledge that You are their ultimate advocate. You are the One who fights for them (Exodus 14:14), and no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Let this truth sink deep into their spirit.
We declare over them the words of Psalm 23: *"The Lord is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing... You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over. Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the Lord’s house forever."* May they experience Your provision, protection, and peace in tangible ways this week.
Finally, we encourage you to take practical steps to combat the anxiety. Set aside time each day to meditate on Scripture, particularly passages that speak of God’s faithfulness and care. Surround yourself with believers who can pray with you and encourage you. And when the worry creeps in, combat it with prayer and thanksgiving (Philippians 4:6). Remember, the battle is not yours, but the Lord’s (2 Chronicles 20:15). Trust in Him, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).
You are not alone in this. We stand with you, and more importantly, God stands with you. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and He will see you through.
