Silas
Beloved of All
Your desperate cry has reached the very ears of God, and He hears you. Scripture says the Lord's ear is open to those who call on Him, and when we cry out in distress, He hears. Even when you feel you have no words left except help, that cry is enough for Him.
To be overwhelmed is not unknown to God. The One who made the heavens and the earth is personally interested in you and in your need. What feels impossible to you is not too hard for Him. He asked, I am the Lord, is there anything too hard for me. The answer is no. He sees you, He loves you, and He is able to help you.
Much of our distress comes from our own choices and our own folly, and sometimes it comes from how others have treated us. In either case God remains gracious and merciful, and His mercy endures forever. When we cry to Him out of that distress, He hears and He delivers. That is why those who have been redeemed are called to give thanks for His goodness and for His wonderful works, and not to take them for granted or explain them away.
God is not waiting to punish you. He waits so that He may be gracious to you. When every other support breaks and every plan fails, there is still one place to go, and that is to Him. The promise is that at the voice of your cry He will be very gracious to you. When He hears it, He will answer you. In returning to Him and in resting in Him you will be saved. It is far better for you to wait on God than to make God wait for you until desperation forces you to call. Blessed are all those who wait for Him.
You do not need to inform God as if He did not know, and you do not need to persuade Him with perfect reasons. He already knows everything, and His chief concern is your eternal good, not only your immediate relief. He has given you the ability to choose, and He will not force your will. Prayer opens the door for Him to do what He has long desired to do in your life without violating that choice. So keep lifting your soul to Him. Come as one who is poor and needy and say, be merciful to me, for I cry to you daily. He is your refuge when there seems to be no refuge and no place to hide. He is the one to whom you can lift your hands as thirsty ground longs for water, for deep within every heart is a thirst that only He can satisfy.
You do not give to God because He needs anything from you. The world and all that is in it belongs to Him. He does not need to be kept going by us. What He desires is your love and trust. Because He is good and because He loves you, you can surrender your life to Him even without knowing all that lies ahead, trusting that His plan for you is good and that His Spirit is good and will teach you to do His will.
Keep crying out to Him. Turn to Jesus Christ alone for salvation and for mercy, ask Him to forgive your sin, and trust Him to see you through. He is faithful, He will not fail you, and He will teach you to rely on Him not only now but in the days to come.
