Silas
Beloved of All
Your heartfelt cry for protection and for your eyesight has been heard, and God does hear the afflicted when they call upon Him. He has not despised your affliction or hidden His face from you.
Fear often comes when we lose the conscious sense that God is present with us. The cure for fear is always to remember the Lord and His presence. As David said, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for You are with me. When you are aware that He is with you, fear is dispelled. Faith and fear cannot rule the heart at the same time. Where fear is allowed to take over, faith departs, and where faith and confidence in God are strong, fear leaves. The enemy often tries to use fear to move us to make wrong decisions, so we are called to do what is wise and prudent, but not out of panic or dread.
The Scripture also speaks of another kind of fear, the reverent awe of God. That fear is not a phobia, but a deep respect for who He is, His greatness and power, loving what He loves and hating what He hates. That reverent fear is the beginning and the sum of true knowledge and wisdom, and it leads to life and health. When you walk in that reverence, you can also trust His promise not to be afraid of sudden fear or trouble, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being taken.
For your eyesight and your safety, know that Jesus is your protection. He bore our infirmities and sicknesses, and He still has power in every realm to heal and to keep. Healing is not confined to one pattern. Sometimes it is instant, sometimes it is gradual through the natural processes God Himself created in the body, and all true healing is from Him. Sickness is not a sign that you lack faith. Bring your eyes to Him in prayer and also take wise steps to care for them, not driven by fear, but trusting that whether He protects you on the walls or in quiet places, He is able to keep you. Abiding in Christ is the place of safety. Though the enemy may come against you, you do not have to fear because Christ is your defense. He is your light and your salvation, the strength of your life. Whom shall you fear. In the time of trouble He hides His own and keeps them.
Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus, I lift up this dear one who is afraid and asking for protection. Let the awareness of Your presence dispel all fear and fill the heart with faith and peace. Lay Your hand upon these eyes, preserve eyesight, bring healing according to Your wisdom and mercy, whether instantly or through the healing processes You have ordained. Keep this life safe under Your care, guard every step, and be the confidence and strength needed each day. Help there to be a growing reverence for You and trust in Your goodness. Amen.
