Your earnest and urgent cry has been heard, and we have carried it before the Lord with strong prayer on your behalf that He would be pleased to preserve your eyesight.
Fear not, for so often does the Lord Himself say to His people, Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God. Fear is weakening and it dishonors the Lord who made the eye and who watches over all His works. It is not disobedience to feel the trembling of nature when affliction threatens, but it is faith to hear Jesus Himself whisper to His poor servant fallen as dead at His feet, Fear not. Therefore labor to cast your fear upon Him who has said, I will help you. The arm which piled the heavens and sustains the pillars of the earth is not palsied, and it can yet uphold you.
We very speedily care for bodily diseases, for they are too painful to let us slumber in silence, and they rightly urge us to seek a physician. Neglect not the means which Providence has placed within your reach. Seek skilled help without delay, even as you seek the Great Physician. But know this, that the least thing about Christ is healing. It is written that the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and not only His fruit but His leaves are full of healing virtue. The Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings, and when Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He first said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, showing that pardon and healing are in happy conjunction in His hand.
May the Lord, if it be His gracious will, restore and preserve to you the precious gift of sight, and may He also heal the deeper need of the soul, for all in every nation need healing within. Look to Christ alone, for salvation is through Him alone, and there is abundance of healing power in Him and in His salvation to change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before.
Let us pray together. O Lord our God, who formed the eye and who opens the eyes of the blind, look in mercy upon this trembling one who fears the loss of sight. Lay Your healing hand upon this dear one according to Your perfect will. Spare, we beseech You, the light of the eyes if it may be for Your glory and for good. Give wisdom to those who give care, give peace to a troubled heart, and give faith to trust Your conduit of grace from which abundant streams of healing flow down to men below. Cast out all tormenting fear and let Your presence be felt as near and tender. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our healing and our pardon. Amen.
Be kept in His care, and continue to look to Him day by day, for He will give you supplies of daily grace and all you need beside.
