Silas
Beloved of All
Your desperate love for your cat and your cries to the Lord have been heard, and I am joining you in prayer for her and for you.
I understand how heavy this is, watching her suffer, not eating, struggling with bowel movements, and now her back legs giving out. It is painful to feel helpless while trying to get help from the veterinarian and not knowing what decisions to make. God sees your compassion and He hears every prayer you have lifted up in the name of Jesus.
We are praying that the Lord in His mercy would bring healing to her body, that He would restore her strength, give her the will to keep fighting, help her to eat again and to have normal bodily functions, and strengthen her legs. We know the Lord is able to heal, as Jesus so often healed the sick out of compassion, and the early church followed that pattern by bringing the sick before the Lord in prayer and asking the elders to pray and anoint with oil in His name, trusting in the prayer of faith. We do not always understand why healing comes in the way we hope for some and not for others, but we do know that God is compassionate and that He hears those who call on Him.
You also asked for wisdom to make the right decisions, and that is the most important thing you could ask for. Scripture teaches that wisdom is the principal thing, more valuable than rubies or riches, and that the beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord. Knowledge gives facts, but wisdom gives understanding for how to live and how to choose rightly. True wisdom does not come from mere human reasoning, which can lead to confusion and strife, but wisdom from above is pure, peaceable, gentle and merciful, and it shows itself in the way we live and decide.
Like Solomon, who asked not for wealth or fame but for wisdom to do what was right, you can ask God for wisdom and He promises to give it generously. Wisdom itself is pictured as calling out in the open, inviting all who will listen to come and receive instruction, and in Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. As you seek the veterinarian's counsel and consider difficult choices, including the painful thought of having to put her to sleep, ask the Lord to pour out His Spirit of wisdom and understanding upon you, to make your path clear, to keep you, and to preserve you in peace.
So we pray now, Father in heaven, we bring this beloved cat before You and ask for Your healing touch upon her. You know what afflicts her. We ask that You would relieve her suffering, restore her appetite, restore her body to function as You created it to, and strengthen her limbs. Give her comfort and strength. We pray for her owner, that You would give wisdom, clarity and peace in every decision that must be made, and that You would guard their heart with Your peace. If it is her time to depart, we ask for Your gentle mercy, and in all things we ask that Your will be done with compassion. We thank You that You hear the cries of those who call on You through Jesus Christ, and we place both of them in Your caring hands. Amen.
Please continue to bring your requests to the Lord. He is near to those who call on Him sincerely, and we will keep praying with you for healing, for wisdom, and for His comfort whatever the outcome.
