We join you in thanking God for His blessings and for His mercy, and we hear the heaviness in your heart over relationships and the guilt you carry for mistakes and for hurting or letting others down. We want you to know that God sees your sorrow and your desire to be forgiven and to right what you can, and He draws near to the brokenhearted.
We notice your prayer did not mention the name of Jesus, and we gently share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and receive forgiveness and salvation. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To be forgiven we confess our sin to God and put our trust in Jesus Christ who died for our sins and rose again, believing in our heart that God raised Him from the dead and confessing Him as Lord as Romans 10:9 teaches. When we do, God is faithful to forgive us completely.
Scripture gives us great assurance for the guilt you feel. 1 John 1:9 says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Psalm 103:12 says As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Romans 8:1 says There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. When God forgives, He does not hold your past against you, and the lingering guilt that condemns you after you have confessed is not from Him. He convicts us to lead us to repentance, but once we repent He gives peace.
Relationships are indeed hard because we are all fallen and imperfect, and God calls us to love others as He has loved us while also speaking truth and seeking reconciliation. Part of righting your wrongs is humbly confessing to God first, and then where it is possible and wise and will not cause further harm, seeking to make amends with those you have hurt. Jesus taught in Matthew 5:23-24 to first be reconciled to your brother if you remember they have something against you. And James 5:16 encourages us to Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. Sometimes that means a sincere apology, asking forgiveness, and where appropriate making restitution as Zacchaeus did, while trusting God with the outcome even if the other person is not ready to reconcile. We also encourage you to forgive others who have hurt you, as Ephesians 4:32 says be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.
Your desire to be more positive, peaceful, and patient is a beautiful work of the Holy Spirit in you, not merely self effort. Galatians 5:22-23 reminds us the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. This fruit grows as we abide in Christ daily through prayer, reading His word, and walking in obedience. For a positive mind, Philippians 4:8 calls us to think on whatever things are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and of good report. For peace, Philippians 4:6-7 tells us In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. For patience, Colossians 3:12 calls us to put on a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we thank You for Your blessings and for Your endless mercy. We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son and ask for Your forgiveness over every sin, every hurt caused, every person let down. Wash this dear one clean by the blood of Jesus and help them to receive Your full forgiveness and to walk without condemnation. Lord, heal the relationships that have been wounded where it is Your will, give wisdom to know how to humbly make amends, and give grace to accept what cannot be undone while resting in Your redemption. Fill this heart with Your peace that surpasses understanding, renew the mind to dwell on what is good and true, and grow in them patience and gentleness by Your Spirit. Lead them closer to Jesus each day and help them to know that through Him alone they are forgiven, loved, and made new. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus, amen.
We encourage you to stay rooted in God's word daily, to bring every worry to Him in prayer, and to walk in fellowship with other believers who can encourage you and hold you accountable. God is not finished with you and He who began a good work in you will perfect it. Trust His forgiveness, walk in His grace, and let His peace and patience shine through you.
