Disciple of Prayer
I’m ###. My mum ### has too many jobs, her sense of time is warped as hard to get things done as she asks for too much from others. She applied for a job, hope someone else who needs a job gets it instead. My mum is mentally ill and doesn't understand, that yes, the economy is bad, but we are doing better than most people (even though she doesn't see it that way) and I am forced to help her with a lot of her jobs (not all) but don’t know when the next time I can just sleep for once. Go to bed late, as things need to get done, but at the same time must get up early. Did the bible mean it literally, to not to sleep, as it seems God doesn’t want me to sleep. I’m in tears. ### needs to be stopped (and retire), blocking ships that go and leave the Strait of Hormuz is cruel. Hope ### gets sent to place for elders go that have mental health issues.

We hear your exhaustion, your tears, and the weight of the burden you are carrying. The struggle you describe is real, and it is clear that you are stretched thin, both physically and emotionally. Let us first say that God does not desire for you to be in a place of constant weariness or despair. Scripture tells us in Matthew 11:28, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest." Rest is not a luxury—it is a necessity, and God commands it for our well-being.

Your concern for your mother is evident, and it is clear that her mental health challenges are making life difficult for both of you. While it is honorable to help your mother, it is also important to set boundaries. Proverbs 11:17 says, "The merciful man does good to his own soul, but he who is cruel troubles his own flesh." You cannot pour from an empty cup, and it is not ungodly to prioritize your own health and rest. Encourage your mother to seek professional help, whether through counseling, medical support, or even assistance with managing her workload. Pray for wisdom in how to support her without enabling behaviors that may be harmful to both of you.

As for her job applications, we can pray that God’s will be done. If it is not His plan for her to take on more work, we trust that He will close those doors. Philippians 4:19 reminds us, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." God knows your family’s needs, and He is faithful to provide.

You also mentioned sleep, and we want to reassure you that God does not intend for you to live in a state of sleep deprivation. Psalm 127:2 says, "It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, to eat the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his beloved." Sleep is a gift from God, and He desires for you to rest. If you are struggling to find balance, ask the Lord to help you prioritize your time and to give you the strength to say "no" when necessary.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear one who is carrying so much. Lord, You see their exhaustion, their tears, and the weight they bear. We ask that You would give them rest—true rest for their body, mind, and spirit. Help them to set boundaries with love and wisdom, and give them the strength to prioritize their own well-being. Father, we pray for their mother, that You would bring healing to her mind and clarity to her thoughts. Provide her with the support she needs, whether through medical care, counseling, or godly community. Close doors that are not meant to be opened, and open doors that lead to peace and stability for their family. Lord, we trust in Your provision and Your timing. Help them to see Your hand at work in their lives, even in the midst of struggle. Give them hope, and remind them that You are their strength when they are weak. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

You are not alone in this. God sees your struggle, and He is with you. Lean on Him, and do not hesitate to seek help from your church community or trusted believers who can walk alongside you. You are loved, and your well-being matters to Him.

We're right there with you, feeling the weight of your mum's workload and the strain it's putting on you. It's like you're trying to hold up a dam with your bare hands, and it's exhausting. We know it's hard to see a way out, but remember, God didn't design us to live like this. He wants us to find rest, even in the midst of our troubles.

We've been thinking about that verse in Matthew 11:28-29, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Jesus isn't saying we won't have responsibilities or challenges, but He's promising to help us carry them. It's like He's saying, "Let's do this together. I'll take some of that weight off your shoulders."

We want to encourage you to keep communicating openly with your mum. It's important to express your concerns and feelings, but also to listen to hers. Maybe together you can find a way to adjust her workload or seek professional help. Remember, it's not selfish to want some time for yourself. In fact, it's necessary for you to be able to support her effectively.

And hey, it's okay to say no sometimes. God gave us 24 hours in a day, not 25. It's about priorities and boundaries. Let's pray that God will give you the wisdom to know when to say yes and when to say no.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we come to You today on behalf of our friend. Lord, You see the burden they're carrying, the tears they're crying. We ask that You would give them strength, Lord. Help them to find rest, even in the midst of their struggles. Give them wisdom in how to support their mum, and help them to set boundaries that are loving, yet firm. We ask that You would heal their mum, Lord. Bring clarity to her thoughts and peace to her heart. Help them both to trust in Your provision and Your timing. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

You're not alone in this. We're here for you, and so is God. Keep fighting, and keep trusting.

Seek His Face and Presence not just His hand. In his Presence is everything you need. This does not mean you can have any material thing, perfect spouse because you asked for it in Jesus Christ name. You will have your needs, some of your wants, and difficult trials. The difficult trials are supposed to refine your character and make you more like Jesus. He is more interested in getting you to everlasting life and having your heart in the right place than he is in giving you gifts. It’s eternal life he’s concerned with.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
