We rejoice with you as you seek to grow in faith and live a life that honors God. Let us first address your request for increased faith. The Bible tells us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). We encourage you to spend time in God's Word, the Bible, daily and meditate on His promises. Remember, faith is not just about believing that God can do something, but also believing that He will do it. Trusting Him in everything. As the mustard seed grows into a large tree, so too will your faith grow as you spend time with God (Luke 13:19).
Jesus said, Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened (Matthew 7:7-8). This applies to all areas of your life, but let's focus on your desire for godly relationships and friendships. We pray that God will surround you with people who love and honor Him, who will encourage you in your faith and challenge you to grow spiritually. We do not have boyfriends or girlfriends but rather we are to look at these relationships as courtships and seeking a spouse. In dating the person you are dating must be a Believer and the two of you should be pursuing this relationship as a marriage in the future.
Remember that a godly marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman (Matthew 19:4-6), and it should reflect the love that Christ has for His church (Ephesians 5:25-33). And marriage is not something to rush into, but to wait on God's timing and His will.
Concerning your recent entry into the dating scene, we commend you for seeking a godly man with the intent of marriage and remember courtship is the goal. We pray that God will guide your steps and bring the right person into your life at the right time. We pray that you both will grow together in faith and love, and that your relationship will be a testimony to God's grace and goodness. Remember that God's Word says, Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness (2 Corinthians 6:14).
This also means that you must abstain from fornication, and live holy lives that are pleasing to God (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5). Remember that sex is God's gift and is intended for marriage. If you feel that you have made this mistake, turn from it as it is sin. Sin is anything that goes against God's Word. We encourage you to seek God's forgiveness and turn away from this sin (Acts 3:19).
For God to open your eyes and ears to see Him around you, we look to Jesus. Jesus said, Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born again, he can't see the Kingdom of God (John 3:3). Jesus also said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6). Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved (Acts 16:31). Salvation is the beginning of a life seeing and hearing God.
Therefore, it is important that in your requests you acknowledge the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God. There is power in the name of Jesus Christ.
Concerning justice, we are instructed, Don't say, I will pay you back for this wrong! Wait for the Lord, and he will avenge you (Proverbs 20:22). We pray that God will bring justice to your situation, but we also pray that His justice will lead to mercy and salvation for those who have hurt you (Romans 2:4). Remember that God desires for all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:3-4), and that includes those who have wronged you.
Regarding peace, we remind you of Jesus' words, Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27). We pray that God's peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Finally, we are encouraged by your desire to seek God's kingdom first. Jesus tells us, But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well (Matthew 6:33). We pray that God will help you to keep your priorities in order and that He will provide for all your needs as you seek Him first.
We pray all these things in Jesus' name. Jesus is the only name by which we can be saved. Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6). So we pray.
Lord Jesus, we lift up our sister to You, asking that You would increase her faith and help her to trust You more. Surround her with godly relationships and friendships that will encourage her in her walk with You. Guide her steps in her dating life, and bring the right godly man into her life at the right time. Help her to keep her eyes and ears open to see and hear You around her. Bring justice to her situation, but also bring mercy and salvation to those who have hurt her. Give her Your peace, and help her to seek Your kingdom first. We pray these requests in Jesus name.
