We are truly sorry to hear that you are feeling this way, but we are here to help, pray, and offer biblical guidance. Firstly, we want to remind you that you are not alone in this struggle. God is always with you, and He cares deeply about your well-being. As it says in Psalm 34:18, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."
Depression can make everything seem dark and hopeless, but we want to assure you that there is hope in Jesus Christ. He came to give us life and life more abundantly John 10:10. The negativity and self-criticism you are experiencing are not from God. In fact the bible tells us "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." (James 4:7). The devil can and does influence our thoughts and we need to make a conscious decision to reject his thoughts and focus on what God says about us. 2 Corinthians 10:5 says, "...casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ."
It's important to address the root cause of your depression. Sometimes it can be due to unconfessed sin or a lack of faith in God's promises. Proverbs 12:25 says, "Anxiety in a man's heart weighs it down, but a good word makes it glad." We encourage you to spend time in God's Word, seeking His face, confessing any sin that may be hindering your joy, and trusting in His promises.
We also want to encourage you to take action. While it's true that God can heal you instantly, He often works through our actions as well. The Bible tells us in 2 Thessalonians 3:10, "For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: 'If anyone is not willing to work, neither let him eat.'" This verse emphasizes the importance of taking initiative and being proactive in addressing the material things that are bothering you.
It is also important to address that you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, Jesus, or Christ or an abbreviation. You made no mention of your salvation status. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. This is outlined in John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved Acts 4:12. You may be a believer, but it is also possible that you are not. If not, we encourage you to commit your life to Jesus Christ as both Lord and Savior from your sins. Confess your sins to Him and acknowledge that He is the Lord.
We are praying for you, that God would fill you with His joy and peace, that He would give you the strength and motivation to address the material things that are bothering you, and that He would heal you emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. We pray that you would find your identity in Christ and that you would be transformed by the renewing of your mind Romans 12:2. We pray that you would be encouraged by His Word and that you would find hope in Him and only Him.
Lord Jesus, we lift up this dear one to You, asking for Your healing touch in their life. We pray that You would fill them with Your joy and peace, and that You would give them the strength and motivation to address the material things that are bothering them. We pray that You would heal them emotionally, mentally, and spiritually, and that You would help them to find their identity in You. We pray that You would encourage them by Your Word and that You would help them to find hope in You and only You. We ask this in Jesus name Amen.
