2 Chronicles 9:12 :
King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba all she desired and asked for; he gave her more than she had brought to him. Then she left and returned with her retinue to her own country.

A Prayer Inspired by 2 Chronicles 9:12: Our prayer:
"Heavenly Father, thank You for Your immense generosity and grace. Just as Solomon gave abundantly to the Queen of Sheba, You supply all our needs according to Your riches in glory. Help us to come to You with an open and eager heart, trusting that You always give more than we can ask or imagine. Keep us humble in times of blessing, and let Your goodness flow through our life to others. In Jesus' name, Amen."

We join with you in this beautiful prayer and we thank you for sharing it with us, for it reflects a heart that truly understands the generous nature of our God.

We love how you have seen in 2 Chronicles 9:12 a picture of the Lord's own heart toward us. Solomon in his wisdom and wealth gave the queen of Sheba all she desired and asked for, and even more than she had brought to him, yet how much greater is our King Jesus. Solomon was great, but Jesus is greater still, the true Bread of Heaven and the Word of Life who does not give sparingly but abundantly.

Scripture reminds us of this generosity, that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, Ephesians 3:20, and that our God will supply every need of ours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:19. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, James 1:17. When we come to Him with an open and eager heart, we come to One who delights to give good things to His children, Matthew 7:11.

We also rejoice that you have lifted up Jesus as the Bread of Heaven and the Word of Life, for He is. Jesus said, I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty, John 6:35. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, John 1:1, and The Word became flesh, and lived among us, John 1:14. To come to Him eagerly is to come to be fed, to be filled, and to never be left empty.

And we agree with you in praying for humility in times of blessing, for that is so needed. When the Lord pours out His goodness, we want to remember that all we have comes from His hand, 1 Chronicles 29:14, and to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt us in due time, 1 Peter 5:6, remembering that God gives grace to the humble, James 4:6.

We pray together with you now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your immense generosity and grace that never runs dry. Thank You for giving us Your Son, the true Bread from heaven and the living Word, who satisfies our deepest hunger. Help us to come before You daily with open and eager hearts, trusting not in our own worthiness but in Your abundant love, believing that You will give more than we can ask or imagine according to Your perfect will. Keep us humble in times of blessing, guard us from pride, and let Your goodness flow through our lives to others so that they may taste and see that You are good. We ask You to deepen our hunger for Your Word and our dependence on Jesus, in whom all our needs are supplied. We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.

We were grateful to read your prayer. That desire for an open and eager heart before the Lord, and to stay humble when He blesses, is such a good and honest place to be.

We hear in your words both thankfulness and a careful awareness that blessings can easily pull our focus to ourselves. In our own lives we have found humility is not timidity or thinking less of ourselves, but simply remembering our dependence on God and learning to value others above ourselves. It grows as we reflect honestly before Him and stay in right relationship with Him and with the people around us.

Gratitude helps with that too. When we pause to truly notice we have received something good, and that it came from His hand and often through others, our hearts settle. We rejoice more freely and we are less likely to hold tightly to what we have been given.

If it would be helpful this week, you might choose one specific blessing you are thankful for right now and ask the Lord how He would like that goodness to flow through you to someone else, even in a small, quiet way.

Father, thank You for Your generosity to us. Keep our hearts open and eager toward You, and gentle and humble in seasons of blessing. Teach us to receive with thankfulness and to share what You give with others. We trust You to lead us in this. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

It is a right and good prayer you have brought before the Lord, for it asks for that which He delights to give. You have seen in Solomon a faint picture of our greater Solomon, the Lord Jesus Christ. The queen of Sheba came and brought her treasures, and Solomon gave her all she desired and asked for, yea more than she had brought to him. So does our Lord deal with those who come to Him with an open heart. He does not merely wish us well, but His goodness is beneficence and good doing. He does to us that which is good, and His benefits come to us daily, even in the simple form of preserved life, in every heaving of the lungs and pulsing of the blood.

You pray to come with an open and eager heart, trusting that He gives more than we can ask or imagine. This is true wisdom. Let us not ask according to the measure of our poor little heart that is so shriveled and cold and weak, but according to God's great heart that is infinite and full of grace and love. The reason for God's mercy lies not in man, but in God's own heart. Within His own bosom He found the motive for the display of His grace, and His own arm brought salvation. Oh for a wide mouth then, to take in every conceivable blessing from Him in Christ, in whom we have all spiritual blessings in heavenly places.

And you pray well to be kept humble in times of blessing. This also is most needful. When God is blessing us, let us still keep very low before Him. There are reasons in ourselves for serving the Lord with all humility, and there are reasons in Christ our Master who was never exalted above measure. Pride can shut the door in the face of Christ, but it is true humility to take God at His word and to believe Him. May you get into such a blessed state of confidence in the love of God, in the love of Christ's heart, in the power of Christ's arm, in the prevalence of Christ's plea, that at all times you may trust in Him and in nothing whatever be afraid.

He who is the Bread of Heaven and the Word of Life still feeds His people and still speaks to them. Come then boldly to Him, for no spiritual blessing comes by chance, but all is in Christ, accepted in the Beloved. Because Christ is accepted, therefore those who are in Him are accepted. And when He has blessed you, seek that His goodness may flow through your life to others, for whom He has blessed He makes to be a blessing.

May the Lord grant your prayer, keep you near the Word who is Christ Himself, and daily load you with His benefits, and keep you humble and trusting all your days. In Jesus name, Amen.
