Help through suicidal depression

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Please pray for my depression to lift. I am between jobs and may have to work far away from home. My marriage is at breaking point. I’m so tired. I’m suicidally depressed but still trying to work. I have interviews next week a bit closer to home. I’m an empty nester, menopausal and have over analyse all of the mistakes in my life. I can’t carry on for much longer. I have no friends. Please help.

We have read your request and we are lifting you up before the Lord together right now, for we hear the deep weariness and pain in your words and we do not take lightly what you are carrying.

You shared that you are suicidally depressed, exhausted, between jobs, facing the possibility of working far from home, with a marriage at breaking point, feeling empty as an empty nester, walking through menopause, over analysing mistakes, and feeling you have no friends and cannot carry on much longer. We want you to know that God sees you fully in this valley, He has not abandoned you, and your life is precious to Him.

The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3. Jesus invites you personally when He says, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28. We know that cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 is true for you right now.

We want to gently speak truth to the lie that you cannot go on or that ending your life would bring relief. Your life is created by God and valued by Him, and suicide is not His will or His plan for you. He says, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10. And, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. Even when you feel alone and friendless, you are not forgotten. God promises He will not leave you nor forsake you, and He can provide community and comfort even in this lonely season.

We also hear how tired you are from over analysing past mistakes. Please hear that in Christ there is forgiveness and freedom from condemnation. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. The enemy wants you to live in regret, but God wants you to live in His grace and to know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28. Your menopause, your empty nest, your job transition, these are real and difficult changes, but they do not define your worth or your future. Your identity and purpose remain secure in Him, and He can bring new purpose in this next season.

Your marriage is precious to God. We believe marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman that God desires to strengthen and restore. We pray for healing where there has been hurt, for softened hearts, for honest and grace filled communication, and for you both to seek Him together. If possible, we encourage you to reach out for godly counsel together, perhaps a pastor or biblical counselor, who can walk with you both.

We notice your request asks for prayer but does not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and find salvation and true hope. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to call upon the name of Jesus, confess your need for Him, believe that He died and rose again for your sins, and trust Him as Lord and Savior. He is the source of the peace that surpasses understanding.

Because you mentioned being suicidally depressed, we urge you with great care to reach out right away to someone you trust today, a pastor, a doctor, a counselor, a family member, and if you ever feel unsafe or feel you may act on these thoughts, please go to your nearest emergency department or call your local emergency services or a crisis helpline in your country right away. Please also see your doctor about both the depression and the physical changes of menopause, as both can deeply affect mood and energy and deserve compassionate care. You do not need to carry this alone. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.

We are praying together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift this dear one to You. You see her weariness, her broken heart, her depression, her loneliness, and the strain on her marriage and work. Lord, we ask You to lift this heavy darkness, to bring Your light and hope into her mind and heart, to give her rest where she is so tired, and strength for each day. We pray You would guard her life, protect her from the lies of the enemy, and surround her with Your presence and love. Heal her heart and bind up her wounds, comfort her in her loneliness and provide godly friendship and community. We ask for Your hand upon her marriage, bring reconciliation, forgiveness, and renewed love, and help them to honor You together. We pray for her interviews next week, that You would open the right door close to home according to Your will and provide for her needs. Forgive her sins and help her to receive Your forgiveness for past mistakes, freeing her from condemnation and over analysis, and give her peace and a renewed sense of purpose as an empty nester and through this physical season. Lead her to caring help, to a doctor, counselor and pastor who can support her, and let her feel Your nearness today. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our only hope, Amen.

We will continue to pray for you. Please keep reaching out, stay connected to a local church body if you are able, and let someone near you know how deeply you are struggling so they can walk with you. God is not finished with your story, and we ask Him to show you His love and hope day by day.

We are so grateful you reached out, and we want to care for your safety first. If you are in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services right now. For free, confidential support from trained people, you can find a helpline in your country at findahelpline.com. You are not alone and help is ready right now.

We hear how tired and heavy everything feels. Carrying depression, job uncertainty, strain in your marriage, the changes of this season of life, and feeling without friends would leave anyone exhausted. It makes sense that you are looking back over your life and feeling overwhelmed, and we are glad you are still reaching out even while feeling so low.

You do not have to hold this by yourself tonight. If you can, please let one person know how you are really doing today, a family doctor, counselor, pastor, or someone you trust, and ask them to stay connected with you. Alongside prayer, it is a good and wise step to see your doctor promptly about the depression and the other symptoms you mentioned, so you have support for both your emotional and physical health.

We are praying for you and we will keep praying, especially for your interviews next week and for wisdom for each next step.

Jesus, we lift our friend to You right now. You see how weary and alone they feel. Please keep them safe, surround them with caring help today, give them rest and strength for each hour, and guide them toward steady support and hope. Lead them to people who will listen and walk with them. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your sorrowful prayer has been heard with deep tenderness and has been carried before the Lord.

You describe yourself as tired beyond words, pressed down with a heaviness of spirit, alone, without friends, looking back upon many mistakes, with a marriage under great strain and work uncertain. To be empty nested and passing through the change of life, and to carry all this while still trying to labour and to face interviews, is a heavy burden indeed. The Lord sees you in this place and He does not despise the sighing of a heavy heart.

There is One who knows this loneliness to its depths. He was left alone just when as Man He most needed human sympathy, forsaken by friends, watched by enemies. Yet hear His word in that hour, You shall leave Me alone and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. His loneliness did not destroy Him, though it pained Him, and His brave spirit was not cowed though all the dogs of Hell raged around Him. If you are His, you are not alone now, though you feel friendless. The Father is with you, and the Saviour who bore loneliness Himself draws near to the lonely.

Some of you, I have said before, know what it is to come into deep soul conflict, when faith itself has to fight for very existence. That is your condition now. Thoughts rise that you have questioned His tender love and gracious care, and depression of spirit settles like a cloud. Do not think this strange. Many of the Lord's people have walked this valley. The same mouth that once said in haste, I am cut off, afterwards abhorred the thought and loathed itself for doubting such mercy. Your over analysing of past mistakes is heard by a God who does not remember sin against you as you fear. As the Lamb He proved His love by wounds and blood, and it is as the Lamb that we first learn to love Him again. There will be no peace between your soul and Christ till you have Him as the Lamb who bears away sin. Come to Him anew with every mistake, and find that His blood covers what your memory condemns.

This is also an hour of crisis for you, and I would have you understand what that word means. Crisis is not only danger, it is the turning point, the hinge upon which history turns. When Christ died, the crisis of this world came, and after that crisis there was hope. So it may be with you. While life lasts, Jesus is passing by, and this painful hour may be the very hinge upon which the Lord will turn your path toward healing. It is not the end, though the enemy whispers that it is.

Concerning your marriage, hear what Scripture teaches, that marriage is not a mere convenience but a covenant made by choice and cemented by mutual love, wherein husband and wife become one. The Lord says, I am married unto you, and He keeps covenant when we are frail. I pray that He will have mercy upon your house, soften what is hard, heal what is broken, and teach you both again the love that chooses and cleaves. Do not decide great matters in the depth of this darkness. Seek godly counsel together, a faithful pastor or a wise and mature believer who holds to the Lord's way for marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and let that counsel be sought quickly.

For your daily needs, we will pray for those interviews and for work nearer home, that the Lord who provides for sparrows will provide for you. He knows you are tired. He gives rest to the weary and strength to those who have no might.

I entreat you, do not carry these suicidal thoughts alone. The heaviness you feel is a burden too great to bear in secret. Speak at once to a trusted Christian pastor, to your physician, and to one near you who can stay with you. If you feel you cannot carry on or may act upon these thoughts, seek help without delay from those nearest to you or from emergency help where you live. To tell another is not weakness, it is wisdom, and it may be the means the Lord uses to keep you.

Let me pray for you now.

O Lord our Father, look in great mercy upon this weary child of sorrow. Lift the depression that presses down this soul, and shine light into this darkness. Forgive the many mistakes that are now mourned, for the sake of the Lamb who shed His blood. Let this dear one know that though friends seem absent, Thou art with her, and Thou wilt not leave nor forsake. Restore, we beseech Thee, the marriage bond, make it again tender and true, that husband and wife may be one as Thou hast ordained. Provide needful work, guide in interviews, and open a door nearer home if it be Thy will. Give sleep to the tired, comfort to the empty heart, and hope where there has been despair. Keep this precious life, and bring this soul through this crisis to see that Thou art gracious and that with Thee there is help and healing. In the name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour, Amen.

You are not forgotten. We will continue to pray for you. Seek the Lord in His Word each day, even a few verses, and let prayer be your breath. And reach out today to one person who can walk with you in these next days. The Lord who has kept you till now will not cast you away.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honest and painful request has been heard with deep care and sorrow. Thank you for reaching out even while feeling so tired, empty and overwhelmed. To carry suicidal thoughts, job uncertainty, a marriage at breaking point, the loneliness of an empty nest, the physical and emotional weight of menopause, and the burden of looking back over past mistakes is a very heavy load. You are not unseen in this, and you are not alone.

Scripture says God looks to the one who is humble and contrite and who trembles at His word, and that a contrite and humble heart God will not despise. He does not turn away from lowliness of spirit but draws near to it. Even when you feel you have no friends and no strength left, God sees the brokenness and weariness you have described. Your tiredness and your tears are known to Him, and He invites you to bring that low and contrite heart to Him honestly in prayer.

Marriage is a bond ordained by God, and Scripture calls marriage honorable. It is not holiness itself, but it preserves holiness when lived in faithfulness, peace and chaste love. It is not meant to be a hindrance, but when lived with moderation and with a purpose set toward God, it can be a place of grace. I know you feel your marriage is at breaking point, and that adds to the exhaustion. My prayer for you is not for escape from that covenant but for peace within it, for healing where there has been hurt, for holiness and order and gentle love to be restored between you and your husband, and for both of you to have soft hearts toward one another and toward the Lord. With all lowliness and meekness and long suffering, God can work to mend what feels broken.

You mentioned being between jobs, facing the possibility of work far from home, and having interviews next week closer to home. You also spoke of over analyzing mistakes and feeling you cannot carry on. Please hear that your life is not defined by past mistakes. In Christ there is forgiveness and new mercy, and God does not measure you by your failures but offers grace to begin again. The years of raising children, the change of this season of life, and the strain of job searching are real and difficult, and it is understandable to feel empty and without support. God would have you use whatever leisure or transition this season brings not to condemn yourself, but to seek Him, to persevere in prayer, and to be connected to His people.

I pray for you now. Father in heaven, I lift up this dear one who is weary and depressed and tempted to despair. Have mercy and lift this heavy darkness. Give comfort, strength for each day, and hope that does not fail. Provide for daily needs and guide the interviews next week, and open a way for work that allows stability and nearness to home if it is Your will. Bring peace and holiness into this marriage, guard it from division, and teach both husband and wife to follow peace with all and to live faithfully before You. Forgive past sins and quiet the accusing thoughts that replay old mistakes. Let this contrite heart know it is not despised but loved, and that in Christ there is salvation and life. Give friends, godly counsel, and a church family to walk alongside, and keep this precious life safe in Your hands. In Jesus name, Amen.

Please do not carry these suicidal thoughts alone. Your life is precious to God and needed. If you feel you may act on these thoughts or you feel unsafe, please reach out right away to someone you trust and to help nearby. Talk to a pastor, a doctor, a counselor, or a trusted family member today. If you need someone to talk to immediately, you can call or text a crisis helpline in your country. In the United States call or text 988, in the United Kingdom call Samaritans on 116 123, in Canada call 1 833 456 4566 or text 45645, in Australia call Lifeline on 13 11 14. If you are outside these countries you can find helplines at Find A Helpline | Free emotional support in 130+ countries. If you are in immediate danger please go to your nearest emergency department or call emergency services.

Please continue to reach out to your church and to a medical professional for ongoing care for depression and for support through menopause and job stress. You do not have to face the next week alone. Keep coming to God in prayer, even with few words, and keep letting others know how you are doing so they can help you carry this burden.

To Whom it may concern, I’m in quite a situation as far as my relationship with the Lord. I fear I may have done what no one else has ever been able to do and that would be that I fell away from the Lord and quite possibly lost my salvation. I could go into the whole story and tell you all...
