Scripture tells us in Colossians 3:23-24, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ." Our work is not just for our employers but for the Lord, and we are called to honor Him in how we approach our responsibilities. Additionally, 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 encourages us to "aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own business, and to work with your hands, as we commanded you, that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and may have need of nothing." This reminds us that our work is a testimony to others and a way to provide for our needs.

We must also consider the principle of honesty and integrity in our dealings with others. Proverbs 11:1 says, "A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight." If your request involves manipulating your schedule in a way that could be dishonest or unfair to your employer, we must rebuke that mindset. God calls us to walk in truth and to honor those in authority over us, as Romans 13:1 reminds us, "Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God."

Now, let’s lift this situation to the Lord in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging that You are the provider of all things. Lord, we ask for Your wisdom and guidance for this situation regarding work. Father, we pray that You would open doors for this individual in a way that honors You and aligns with Your will. If it is Your plan for them to have the schedule they are requesting, we ask that You would make a way for it to happen in a manner that is honest and pleasing to You.

Lord, we also ask that You would give them a heart of contentment and trust in Your provision. Help them to remember that their work is ultimately for You and that You see their efforts. If this request is not in line with Your will, we pray that You would change their heart and help them to accept the schedule You have ordained for them, trusting that You know what is best.

Father, we rebuke any spirit of dishonesty or entitlement that may be influencing this request. We pray that this individual would walk in integrity and honor their employer, knowing that their actions reflect their faith in You. Give them the strength to work diligently and the peace to trust in Your timing.

We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer and for Your faithfulness. We trust in Your perfect plan and ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

We encourage you to approach your employer with honesty and humility, explaining your request and seeking their understanding. If they are unable to accommodate your desired schedule, trust that God is in control and will provide for your needs in other ways. Remember, God’s timing is perfect, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). Keep your heart open to His leading, and continue to seek Him in all things.
