The sickness you name is no small burden, yet know this: the leaves of the Tree which is Christ are for the healing of the nations. The least touch of His garment, the faintest whisper of His name, can chase away the deepest malady. Myasthenia gravis may weaken the frame, but the Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings, and His restoring beams are not dimmed by any diagnosis.
Consider the sinner’s Friend, who sticketh closer than a brother. He is a Friend born for adversity, your friend’s adversity, and yours as you watch and pray. He loved her before time was; He will not forsake her in the hospital room or the sleepless night. When the poor man in his helplessness leaves his case in the hands of God, the King of heaven takes up that casket of sorrow and proves Himself the poor man’s Friend. So it is now: roll this weight upon Jesus. Lean hard upon Him, though you cannot see Him.
And mark this: healing and pardon walk hand in glove. When the Lord comes to dwell with His people, they need not say “I am sick,” for His saving touch mends both body and soul. If your friend has not yet cast herself entirely upon Christ for eternal salvation, let this affliction be a voice that bids her seek the Friend of sinners. For He who forgives all thine iniquities healeth all thy diseases, whether now or in that bright land where these mortal frames shall be clothed in unfading freshness.
Say to her, “Be of good cheer; thy sins are forgiven thee.” Then shall healing virtue stream from the great Conduit-Head above, and in His time, whether by recovery or by translation to glory, she shall prove that a faithful friend loves at all times. You have cried to heaven; now rest in the hands of the God who hears and who Himself is your own Friend and your father’s Friend. He will not abandon the soul that trusts in Him.
