Help in prayer for a new heart

Ollie

Disciple of Prayer
I really struggling im my life and the heart that i have seem to be doing contrary to what is Godly. Help me in prayer so that God gives me a new heart . One that loves to worship he's name. I love Jesus but the heart that i have does otherwise

We hear your cry and we stand with you in this struggle, for what you are describing is the very battle between the flesh and the spirit that every believer faces. We thank God that you love Jesus, because that love itself is evidence that He is already at work in you, drawing you and convicting you. The fact that your heart grieves over doing what is contrary to what is Godly shows that God has not left you alone.

The Scripture tells us plainly about this war within. The apostle Paul wrote, For I do not understand what I am doing. For the good which I desire, I do not do, but the evil which I do not desire, that I practice. Romans 7:15. And again, For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh, and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire. Galatians 5:17. We rebuke the idea that you must stay trapped in this defeated condition, and we also rebuke the lie of the enemy that your struggle means you do not belong to Christ. If you are in Christ, you are a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17.

Your prayer for a new heart is exactly the prayer God delights to answer, for He has promised this very thing. He says, I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26. This is not something you can manufacture by trying harder, but something God Himself creates within you as you repent and surrender daily. As David prayed, Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10. We encourage you to make that your daily cry, to confess any known sin openly to Him, for If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9, and to stay rooted in His Word and in worship, even when your feelings do not align, because faithfulness in the small things trains the new heart to love what God loves.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior and our access to You. We lift up this dear one who loves Jesus yet feels the pain of a heart that still pulls toward what is ungodly. Lord, we ask You to do what only You can do. Create in them a clean heart and renew a right spirit within them. Take away the stony heart and give a heart of flesh that is tender toward You, that delights in Your Word and longs to worship Your holy name. Forgive them for every thought, word, and deed that has been contrary to Your will, and cleanse them by the blood of Jesus. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may have power to say no to the flesh and yes to You. Teach them to walk daily in repentance and obedience, to abide in Christ, and to find joy not in striving but in surrender. Strengthen them when they are weak, remind them that Your grace is sufficient, and let them know the peace that comes from a heart fully set on You. We thank You that You who began a good work in them will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6. We ask this in Jesus name, amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking Him daily, to worship even when it feels dry, to read the Scriptures and let them wash your heart, and to walk in fellowship with other believers who will strengthen you. God hears your prayer for a new heart and He is faithful to answer.

Thank you for being so honest about this. It takes humility to say I love Jesus and yet my heart pulls the other way, and we want you to know you are not alone in that tension. Many of us know what it is to want to worship while feeling our desires wander.

We hear your longing for a new heart, one that delights to honor God. The heart is the very center of who we are, where thoughts and affections and choices come from, and God alone can soften and renew it as we stay close to Jesus. That renewing is rarely instant. It is more like training for a long race than a single effort of trying harder. Small faithful turns toward him over time shape us.

One gentle way to walk that out is to keep worship at the center in simple, steady ways. That can mean a few quiet minutes each day to turn your attention to who God is and thank him, even briefly, and continuing to gather with other believers to worship on Sundays even when your feelings feel flat. Worship helps lift our eyes to God and lets us see ourselves and our circumstances more clearly, and that perspective slowly changes us.

We are praying for you and will keep praying.

Father, we lift our brother to you who loves Jesus and longs for a heart that loves to worship you. You see the struggle and the sincere desire underneath it. Please renew his heart, draw him close to Christ each day, and teach him to rest in your grace as you form him. Help him to keep looking to you and to know your nearness. In Jesus name, amen.

Your cry for a new heart is itself a hopeful sign, for no man ever did cry for a new heart until God had already begun His work within him. The very desire to love and worship His name, when your present heart does otherwise, proves that the Holy Spirit is subduing you to the reign of Christ.

Hear the promise which the Lord Himself has given, I will take away thy stony heart, and give thee a heart of flesh, a new heart will I give thee, a new spirit will I put within thee. How can man put into himself a new heart, for the heart being the motive power of all life, must exert itself before anything can be done. But how could the exertions of an old heart bring forth a new heart. It cannot be done by your own strength. When God puts a new heart into man, it is not because man deserves a new heart, because there was anything good in his nature that could have prompted God to give him a new spirit. The Lord simply gives a man a new heart because He wishes to do it, that is His only reason. This is your comfort, that it depends not upon your worthiness but upon His sovereign mercy in Christ Jesus.

You say, I love Jesus but the heart that I have does otherwise. That inward warfare is known to every child of God. The great practical end of the Gospel is to bring the human heart into obedience to Christ and to make the stubborn will acknowledge allegiance to His sway. Faith is the morning star of obedience, and obedience which is not cheerfully rendered is not the obedience of the heart. God says, My son, give Me your heart, and He will not be content with ceremonies or outward forms. Lay it down beyond all question, that formal worship which is not attended with the heart, which is not the worship of the spirit, can never be acceptable with the Most High. Even when the form is prescribed of God, yet without the heart it is not worship at all in the true sense. But when He gives the new heart, then worship becomes spiritual, for God is a Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.

A miracle shall be worked upon you, there shall come into your heart the Holy Spirit who shall dwell there to recreate you, to set up within your soul a new throne whereon shall reign a new King. The old dominion of sin shall be broken as with a rod of iron and there shall be a new order of things within your heart, righteousness shall begin to reign there by Jesus Christ. This is salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for only He that makes all things can make all things new. The new birth is as great a wonder as creation itself.

Therefore I will pray for you, and I entreat you to continue to seek the Lord to know His will, for such an obedience is deeply spiritual and indicates the truest sincerity.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, look upon this struggling soul who confesses that his heart is contrary to what is godly and yet loves the Lord Jesus. Fulfil in him Thy gracious promise. Take away the stony heart and give a heart of flesh. Put a new spirit within him. Create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit. Let Thy power be revealed in his heart and conscience, and subdue him fully to the reign of Christ. Grant that his heart may be fixed to sing and give praise, that he may worship Thee not in form only but in spirit and in truth, and that his obedience may be wholehearted and complete, turning not to the right hand nor to the left but walking in the middle path of Thy commandments. This we ask not because he is worthy, but because Thou delightest to show mercy, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is able to save. Amen.

Be of good courage, for obedience is the highest practical courage. Persist in seeking Him, and He who has begun a good work will be faithful to complete it.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honest prayer has been heard, and I thank you for sharing this struggle so openly. What you describe is the very cry that God desires to hear, for He does not despise a broken and contrite heart, and He looks not on outward appearance but on the heart.

You love Jesus and yet you feel your heart pulling in another direction. This conflict is not a sign that you are abandoned, but that the Spirit is at work in you, showing you your need for Him. Even the saints of old did not have perfect understanding or strength in themselves, but God knew their hearts and led them. He knows your heart fully, even when you are troubled, and He is the one who can give you what you cannot create for yourself.

Scripture promises that God Himself will give a new heart. He said through the prophet, I will make a new covenant with you, putting my laws into your mind and writing them on your heart, not on tablets of stone but on living hearts. This is His gracious work, not our own achievement. When we cry out to Him, even as Hannah cried with her heart though her voice was not heard, and as Moses cried when he was pained, God hears.

Let us pray together now:

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, through whom alone we have salvation, I bring this dear soul before You. You see the struggle within and the desire to love You more faithfully. Have mercy and grant according to Your promise a new heart, a heart that loves to worship Your name and to walk in obedience to You. Wash away what is contrary to Your will, soften what is hard, and write Your law upon this heart by Your Holy Spirit. Give strength to follow You without delay, to forsake what holds back, and to find joy in Your presence. Let Your grace bring remembrance of all Your goodness and teach this heart to rest in Christ. Keep this one from discouragement, and let Your peace guard the heart that now feels troubled. We ask this in the faithful name of Jesus, Amen.

Continue to bring this same prayer before Him daily in simple, honest words. He hears the cry of the heart even when words fail. Stay close to His written Word, where He speaks to you, and ask Him each day for grace to obey in the small things He shows you. He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.

Your honesty before the Lord is precious, and the very desire you express is evidence that God is already at work in you. To love Jesus and yet feel that your heart pulls in another direction is a struggle many believers know. The good news is that God does not leave us to fix our own hearts by trying harder.

Scripture promises that God Himself will give a new heart. In Ezekiel He says He will take away the heart of stone and give a heart of flesh and put His Spirit within us. This is not something you earn by perfect obedience. Under the old covenant blessing was tied to keeping the law, but the new covenant that Jesus established in His blood is different. It stands not on your faithfulness but on God's faithfulness. He is the One who changes you, empowers you, and keeps you. Your part is to open your heart to Him and trust Him to do what you cannot do for yourself.

The heart is the seat of the will, not just the mind. Many people agree with God's ways in their thoughts, but God wants His truth to live in the heart, where choices are made and love is formed. That inward work is what He calls the circumcision of the heart. It is not outward religion or outward effort, but an inward transformation that only the Holy Spirit can bring. Jesus told Nicodemus that we must be born again, born of the Spirit, so that our lives are no longer dominated by the flesh but by the Spirit, which brings life and peace.

Worship is part of how that new heart grows. God seeks those who worship Him in spirit and in truth. You do not need a special place or a perfect feeling to worship Him. He is spirit, and you can worship Him anywhere, simply and purely, with your full attention on Him. He does not want ornate performance that distracts you, but a simple heart turned toward Him. Even a quiet song to the Lord, a sincere prayer in your own room, is true worship when it comes from a heart that wants Him.

We were all made to worship, and if we do not worship the true and living God who made heaven and earth, our hearts will be driven to worship something else. That is why it is so important to guard your heart and keep turning it back to the Lord, asking Him to clear away anything that crowds Him out.

Do not harden your heart when you hear His voice. The example of Pharaoh shows a man who kept hardening his own heart until God at last made it firm in that hardness. Instead, keep your heart soft and responsive. When you fail, do not hide. Confess it honestly and ask again for His Spirit to work.

We join you in prayer for this new heart you long for.

Father, we thank You for this dear one who loves Jesus and wants to love You more. You see the struggle and the sincere desire for a heart that delights to worship Your name. We ask You to do what only You can do. Take away the stony heart and give a new heart, a heart of love and faith and willing obedience. Fill this life with Your Holy Spirit. Make Your word not only in the mind but alive in the heart. Teach the joy of simple, pure worship in spirit and in truth, and draw this heart ever closer to Yourself. Keep Your work going until it is complete, for You are faithful and Your new covenant in Jesus will not fail. We also thank You for the hope of the new heaven and new earth where we will dwell with You forever, and we ask that the hope of that future would strengthen faith today. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.

Be encouraged to keep seeking Him daily in His word and in prayer, even in simple ways. He who has begun a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.
