Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this burden of pornography addiction. This struggle is not just a personal battle but a spiritual one, and we stand with you in the name of Jesus Christ, who alone has the power to break every chain. The Word of God declares, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB). This addiction is a snare of the enemy, designed to steal, kill, and destroy your purity, your peace, and your intimacy with God. But we serve a God who is greater than any temptation, and we believe He will provide the way of escape for you.

First, we must address the root of this struggle. Pornography is not merely a habit, it is sin. It distorts God’s holy design for sexuality, which is meant to be expressed solely within the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman (Hebrews 13:4, 1 Corinthians 7:2). Every time you engage in this, you are grieving the Holy Spirit and dishonoring the temple of your body, which is meant to be a dwelling place for God (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). We rebuke the spirit of lust and perversion that has taken hold of you, and we command it to flee in the mighty name of Jesus. You are not powerless, you have been given authority in Christ to resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7).

We also recognize that this addiction often thrives in secrecy and shame. But Scripture tells us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB). You must bring this struggle into the light. Confess it to God, and seek accountability with a trusted, godly brother in Christ who can pray with you, encourage you, and hold you to your commitment to purity. Isolation is the enemy’s playground, do not give him that foothold. The body of Christ is here to support you, not to condemn you.

We also urge you to take practical steps to starve this addiction. Flee from every occasion of sin. If certain websites, apps, or environments tempt you, cut them off completely. Jesus said, "If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the Gehenna of fire" (Matthew 18:9 WEB). This is not a call to literal self-harm, but a radical call to remove anything that leads you into sin. Install accountability software, set up boundaries, and fill your mind with Scripture instead of impurity. The psalmist wrote, "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word" (Psalm 119:9 WEB). Memorize verses that speak to God’s standard of holiness, and meditate on them when temptation arises.

We also pray for healing in the areas of your heart that may have led you to seek comfort or escape in pornography. Often, addiction is a misguided attempt to fill a void, loneliness, stress, past wounds, or unmet needs. But only God can satisfy the deepest longings of your soul. Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28 WEB). Bring your pain, your struggles, and your emptiness to Him. Let Him be your refuge and your strength.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the name by which alone we are saved and set free. Lord, we lift up our brother who is bound by the chains of pornography addiction. We declare that he is not defined by this struggle, but by the blood of Jesus that cleanses him from all unrighteousness. We ask You to break every stronghold of lust, perversion, and shame in his life. Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon him, filling him with a hunger for righteousness and a hatred for sin.

Father, we ask for Your supernatural strength to overcome every temptation. When the enemy whispers lies that he is powerless, remind him of Your truth: that greater is He who is in him than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Give him the courage to flee from every occasion of sin and the wisdom to fill his mind with Your Word. Surround him with godly accountability, men who will walk with him, pray with him, and encourage him in his journey toward purity.

Lord, we also pray for healing in the areas of his heart that have been wounded or left empty. Where there is loneliness, fill him with Your presence. Where there is stress, grant him Your peace. Where there is shame, cover him with Your grace. Remind him that he is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that his worth is found in You alone.

We rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name and command it to leave. We declare that our brother is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves him (Romans 8:37). Strengthen him, Lord, to walk in purity and holiness, not by his own might, but by the power of Your Spirit. May his life be a testimony to Your transforming grace, and may he one day stand before You, free and whole.

We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Deliverer. Amen.

We want to leave you with this encouragement: You are not alone in this battle. The same God who parted the Red Sea, raised Jesus from the dead, and broke the chains of countless believers throughout history is fighting for you. Every time you resist temptation, you are taking ground back from the enemy. Every time you choose purity, you are honoring God and strengthening your spirit. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9).

If you have not already, we strongly encourage you to seek out a biblical counselor or a support group for men struggling with sexual purity. There is no shame in asking for help, it is a sign of strength, not weakness. The body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and we are here to walk with you.

Lastly, if you have never fully surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we urge you to do so today. Salvation is not found in trying harder or being a "good person", it is found in repenting of your sins and placing your faith in Jesus Christ, who died on the cross to pay the penalty for your sins and rose again to give you new life. "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9 WEB). If you would like to pray to receive Christ, we would be honored to guide you in that decision.

You are loved. You are valued. And you can overcome this in Christ. Keep fighting the good fight of faith. We are praying for you.

We’re so grateful you reached out. Living with a compulsion that feels stronger than your will is exhausting, and it can make you wonder if real change is possible. It is. Not because you can just “try harder,” but because the shame and isolation that fuel this cycle lose their grip when you bring it into the light.

You don’t have to carry this alone, and in fact, you weren’t designed to. Many who’ve found lasting freedom point to a few simple, concrete steps that made all the difference: telling a trusted Christian friend or pastor face-to-face, not just in prayer; joining a support group like Celebrate Recovery where others understand without shock or judgment; and putting practical safeguards in place, like accountability software, boundaries on screen time, and even giving a friend the password to your devices. These aren’t punishments; they’re a safety net of grace that helps you pause before the next click.

Be gentle with yourself as you take these steps. The enemy wants you to wallow in guilt, but every honest confession is a victory that weakens the hold. You are not your struggle, and God’s mercy meets you fresh each morning. We’re standing with you.

Lord, we lift this precious person up to You right now. You see the hidden fight, the weariness, the genuine desire to be free. Give them courage to take the next right step, to speak truth to someone they trust, to find a community of support, and to receive Your love as the truer source of comfort. Quiet the voices of accusation and fill them with the peace that comes from walking in the light. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I ask for prayer in overcoming a porn addiction

Father, we ask for a restoration of first love, Rev 2:4. Help us "repent and do the things we did at first," when we were first saved (love You most and love our neighbors, Mk 12:30-31. We ask for true repentance, the fear of God and hatred of evil, Luke 24:24-47, 2 Cor 7:10-11, Extra grace to pray & study the Bible so we can memorize Your Word, have extra grace to pray so we can share the Truth filled with love and "Power from high on," Acts 1:8, The Holy Spirit, His fruit, Gal 5:22-23, and express Your love through gifts, 1 Cor 14:1-2, and holiness. Help us "Make Disciples, baptize (live out) and teach obedience to all Christ taught, Matt 28:19-20. Protect us from distractions, Luke 11:4, sin, 2 Cor 13:7, deception, Matt 24:4, evil people 2 Tim 3:5, and the evil one, John 17:15. Give extra grace and discipline to dig in deeply over this summer and throughout the rest of lives, for Your Honor, thank You in Jesus' Name.

Luke 24:46-47
And Jesus told them, “This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and in His Name repentance and forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem.

Acts 3:19
Repent, then, and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped away,

Acts 26:20
First to those in Damascus and Jerusalem, then to everyone in the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, I declared that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds worthy of their repentance.

Romans 2:4
Or do you disregard the riches of His kindness, tolerance, and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you to repentance?

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance.

Mark 1:15
“The time is fulfilled,” He said, “and the kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe in the gospel!”

Matthew 3:2
and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”

Lust, when it has conceived, brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death. Any sin, whatever it is, if we cling to it and love it, will bring forth death, rest assured of that. You have felt its cold grip, and you know the corruption that wars against the soul. Yet the very fact that you cry out for prayer proves the Spirit has not abandoned you to that death. There is a holy discipline in Christ’s house that sometimes withholds the coveted blessing till we have learned to pray in downright earnest, but the power that wins the victory in prayer has its real basis in the love of Christ, Himself.

Go to Him with those eyes of prayer that overcome the Lord Jesus. Tell Him, “Lord, I am in great straits, and You have, Yourself, brought me there. I will not let You go except You bless me with purity.” Wonder not if recovery should be slow, and, as you grow a little stronger, and a little stronger, acknowledge in each increase of strength that the Lord has a new claim on your affection. Do not come in to adulterate our purity, we have enough impurity even now. Pray that God may make you a real increase to our prayerfulness, to our holiness, to our earnestness, to our higher life, and then come and welcome, and the Lord be with you.

Affection in this world overmasters the understanding, and doubtless there would be many in Heaven who would defile its purity if affection had the keeping of the gates. Your mother cannot save you, nor any fond feeling deliver you. But you won not the victory when you seemed to win it over Peter in the Hall of Pilate. You were defeated not once or twice, but many thousand times in the heirs of life, who fought with various success in time, but with sure success as time merged into eternity. I am sure that Jesus will win the victory. He has poured out His soul unto death for you, and when He shall ask, “Father, give them power and victory,” it must be done. He wins the victory, but He will not enjoy it alone, He will glorify His people.
