I had problems with pornography, masturbation, flirting (with the opposite sex) and sexual sins... Now there is a great improvement! Let us give all the glory and thanks for this to the Lord Jesus Christ! But there is still a great need for more improvement (lasting and true) for the glory of God! Let us pray for this...Please pray that God will help me and guide me to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from my life and heart, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Let us pray that God will also work, renew my mind, make me very wise, so that these sins will forever be far from me, in the Name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God will show me mercy, speak to me, give me understanding and deliverance. I really prayed and cried a lot...

We rejoice with you and give all the glory and thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for the great improvement He has already worked in your life, for it is God who works in you both to will and to work for His good pleasure Philippians 2:13. We have heard your cries and your prayers and we join with you now, for the Lord is near to those who have a broken heart and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18, and He hears the cries of the righteous and delivers them out of all their troubles.

We want to encourage you and also speak plainly in love about these sins, because pornography, masturbation, flirting outside of godly boundaries, and all sexual sin grieve the heart of God and defile the body and mind which are meant to be holy. The Scripture is clear that we are to flee sexual immorality, for every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18. For this is the will of God, your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4. These things are not to be managed but to be put to death and forsaken, for we are called to glorify God in our body and in our spirit, which are His 1 Corinthians 6:20. Even flirting with the opposite sex when not in a committed courtship aimed at marriage to a fellow believer can open the door to lust and fornication, and we are to make a covenant with our eyes and guard our hearts with all diligence, for out of the heart flow the springs of life Proverbs 4:23.

We praise God that you desire lasting and true deliverance and not just temporary relief, and that lasting change comes not by our own strength but by the renewing of the mind and the power of the Holy Spirit. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God Romans 12:2. Walk by the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh Galatians 5:16. We encourage you to take radical practical steps as Jesus taught, to cut off every source and access that leads to temptation, to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5, and to flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart 2 Timothy 2:22. Fill your mind daily with the Word of God, hide it in your heart that you might not sin against Him Psalm 119:11, stay in constant prayer, and walk in the light with trusted, godly, mature believers who can hold you accountable, for we are told to confess our sins to one another and pray for one another that we may be healed James 5:16. If you fall again, do not remain in condemnation, for if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9, but let confession lead to true repentance and forsaking of the sin.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, and we thank You for the mercy You have already shown to our dear brother, for You have heard his prayers and his tears and You have brought great improvement. We ask now for complete and lasting deliverance, for You are able to keep him from stumbling. Create in him a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within him Psalm 51:10. Renew his mind, make him very wise in Your Word, and give him understanding so that he may discern and hate every evil way. Speak to him, show him Your mercy, and deliver him fully, for You have said no temptation has taken you except what is common to man, and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13. Help him to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from his life and heart, to flee from every appearance of evil, and to walk in purity and holiness for Your glory. Strengthen him by Your Holy Spirit to put to death the deeds of the body, to keep his body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to You Romans 12:1, and to fix his eyes on Jesus. We pray that these sins will forever be far from him and that his life will bear fruit that brings glory to Your Name. Let him know the joy of a pure heart, for the pure in heart shall see God Matthew 5:8. We trust that He who began a good work in him will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ Philippians 1:6. We ask all this in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Even when God brings real breakthrough, He often builds steadiness day by day as we keep turning to Him, being honest, and learning new patterns. Your continued desire to do whatever it takes is a good and humble place to stay.

You do not have to carry this alone. If you do not already have it, we encourage you to prayerfully invite one safe, mature person of the same sex, a pastor, counselor, or trusted believer, to walk with you in regular, honest accountability. Not to shame you, but to ask you caring questions, pray with you, and help you stay out of isolation where temptation grows stronger. Many find a small Christian support group helpful for the same reason.

Father, thank You for the work You have already done in our brother's life. We ask for Your mercy and gentle guidance as he seeks You. We give thanks with you unto the Lord Jesus Christ for the improvement He has already wrought, and we join you in giving Him all the glory. What you describe is indeed His work, for deliverance from sin is solely by the power of God. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. He brought you forth, and willing as you are to move from these sins, it remains true that He must bring you forth.

You have well said that there is still great need for lasting and true deliverance, and we count it a hopeful sign that you feel this need and cry after it. Purity and charity are the two great garments of Christianity, and without holiness no man shall see the Lord. Any sin, whatever it is, if we cling to it and love it, will bring forth death, for when lust has conceived it brings forth sin, and sin when it is finished brings forth death. To escape the corruption that is in the world through lust we must be partakers of the Divine Nature, possessed of that higher nature which is born in us by regeneration and which lifts us into familiarity with God.

This deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. Where we look for justification there must we also look for sanctification, for as we are justified through Jesus Christ we must also expect to receive sanctification from a heavenly source. The good news is that God has not only invented a way of deliverance but He has found a ransom. The King's own Son has borne the penalty, and when God Himself proclaims, I have found a ransom, then deliverance is certain and already accomplished at the cross. The clock of mercy has struck in heaven the hour of deliverance for all who trust Him.

Therefore we pray with you and for you in the Name of Jesus Christ, that the Lord will show you mercy, speak to you, and give you understanding and complete deliverance. We ask that He will work in you according to His good pleasure, renew your mind by His Word and Spirit, and make you very wise to discern and to flee every approach of temptation. We pray that He will guide you to do whatever it takes, in His strength and not your own, to put away pornography, masturbation, flirting and all sexual sin forever from your life and heart, so that these sins will be far from you and you may walk in purity for the glory of God. May He keep you watchful in prayer, steadfast in the Scriptures, and honest in the light, looking ever to Christ your familiar Friend who lives, and whose eyes are overcome by the believing glance of His people when they look to Him for all things.

Take heart that the Lord chastens those He loves, and after affliction He gives His people a song of deliverance. If He has spared you and begun this good work, it is that you may live and declare the works of the Lord. Rest your soul upon Christ and His ransom, turn from every provision for the flesh, flee youthful lusts, and pursue righteousness with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. He who has begun to deliver you will make that deliverance effectual and attend it with enrichment, for He is able to keep you from falling.

We will continue to pray that the Lord will perfect what He has begun in you, that you may be kept pure and unspotted from the world, and that your life may more and more declare His praise.

We give thanks with you to the Lord Jesus Christ for the mercy He has already shown and for the improvement you have seen, and we give Him all the glory for it. To desire to be clean, to weep and to pray against sin, and to want that sin to be far from your heart forever is itself a work of His grace in you.

We join you in praying that God will complete what He has begun, and that you will be renewed in the spirit of your mind. Renewal does not mean you become another person, but that the same person is made new by the Holy Spirit, so that old deeds no longer have a home in you. As you have been washed and turned to Christ, so you can continue to walk as one purified and converted, leaving the old life behind.

Continue to pursue virtue in an orderly way, step by step. Learn to guard your eyes and your heart, to flee from lust and from occasions that awaken it, and to practice continence, temperance, purity and self control. Be an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity, and let your life become a living rule of good living before God. When temptation comes, remember that God deals with you as a son, and even His chastening is a sign of His love, training you to despise sin rather than to make peace with it.

Let us pray together. Father, in the Name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we thank You for the deliverance You have already given. We ask You to show mercy, to speak, to give understanding and complete deliverance. Work in this heart, renew the mind, grant true wisdom and strength, and help to do whatever is needed to put away pornography, masturbation, flirting and all sexual sin forever. Keep these sins far away, make the heart pure and steadfast, and establish a lasting and true holiness for Your glory. Teach the feet to walk away from every unclean thing and to rest upon what is meek and pure before You.
