What began as a lustful thought can build a house in the imagination and then demand a real expression, destroying everything precious along the way.
But the wonderful news is that you have a new mind available to you. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The very thing you are asking for, a renewed mind, is the gift that Christ has secured for you. When the Spirit of God takes control, He does not merely suppress old desires; He plants new ones so deep that the things of the Spirit become your occupation. The hold of that old filth begins to wither because it has nothing to feed on. Your prayer for wisdom and understanding is exactly the right cry.
