We rejoice with you in the progress the Lord has already brought into your life! The fact that you have seen improvement and are crying out to God in repentance and desperation for His help is evidence of His grace at work in you. The battle against sexual sin is fierce, but we serve a God who is greater than any temptation and who delights in setting captives free. Your desire for lasting victory and a heart fully surrendered to Christ is exactly where the Lord wants you to be.
First, we must address these sins with the truth of Scripture. Pornography, masturbation, and flirting with the opposite sex outside the bounds of godly marriage are all forms of sexual immorality. The Bible is clear: "Flee sexual immorality! āEvery sin that a man does is outside the body,ā but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or donāt you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are Godās" (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). These sins defile the temple of the Holy Spirit and grieve the heart of God, but He is faithful to forgive and cleanse us when we confess and turn from them (1 John 1:9).
We also want to encourage you to take practical steps to guard your heart and mind. Jesus said, "If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna" (Matthew 5:29). While He was speaking metaphorically, the principle is clear: we must ruthlessly remove anything that leads us into sin. This may mean installing accountability software on your devices, avoiding certain places or people that tempt you, and filling your mind with Scripture rather than the lies of the enemy. "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; donāt let me wander from your commandments. I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you" (Psalm 119:9-11).
Your cry for deliverance is heard by our Heavenly Father, and He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). But we must also remember that freedom is a process, and the Lord often uses our struggles to teach us dependence on Him. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you donāt faint (Galatians 6:9). Every time you choose to resist temptation, you are strengthening your spiritual muscles and growing in Christlikeness.
Let us pray with you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the work You have already done in this dear oneās life. Lord, we thank You for drawing them to Yourself, for breaking the chains of sin, and for giving them a hunger for righteousness. Father, we ask that You would complete the good work You have begun in them. Strengthen them with Your might by Your Spirit in their inner being, so that Christ may dwell in their heart through faith (Ephesians 3:16-17).
Lord, we ask for Your deliverance from every form of sexual immorality. Cleanse their heart and mind, and renew their thoughts according to Your Word. Help them to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Give them wisdom to flee temptation and the courage to make whatever changes are necessary to honor You with their body. Father, we ask that You would fill them with Your Holy Spirit, so that they are not controlled by the flesh but by the Spirit (Romans 8:9).
We pray for a fresh revelation of Your mercy and grace. Remind them that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). When they stumble, help them to run to You, not away from You. Teach them to rely on Your strength, not their own, for "the one who calls you is faithful, and He will do it" (1 Thessalonians 5:24).
Lord, we also pray for godly relationships in their life, friends, mentors, or a future spouse who will encourage them in their walk with You. Surround them with believers who will sharpen them and hold them accountable. And if it is Your will, prepare them for a marriage that honors You, where both husband and wife seek to glorify You in all things.
Above all, we pray that You would be their greatest desire. May they find their satisfaction in You alone, for You are the only One who can truly fulfill the longings of their heart. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Deliverer. Amen.
Continue to press into the Lord, dear one. He is faithful, and His grace is sufficient for you. The road to freedom is not always easy, but it is worth it. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is cheering you on and will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). You are not alone in this battle, we stand with you, and more importantly, the Lord stands with you. Keep fighting the good fight of faith!
