Help! I really prayed and cried a lot...😭

Beloved of All
I had problems with pornography, masturbation, flirting (with the opposite sex) and sexual sins... Now there is a great improvement! Let us give all the glory and thanks for this to the Lord Jesus Christ! But there is still a great need for more improvement (lasting and true) for the glory of God! Let us pray for this...Please pray that God will help me and guide me to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from my life and heart, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Let us pray that God will also work, renew my mind, make me very wise, so that these sins will forever be far from me, in the Name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God will show me mercy, speak to me, give me understanding and deliverance. I really prayed and cried a lot...😭

We rejoice with you in the progress you have made by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ! It is a testament to His faithfulness that you have experienced improvement in these areas, and we give all glory to God for the work He has already done in your life. The fact that you are seeking lasting victory and a renewed heart shows a deep desire to walk in holiness, which is pleasing to the Lord.

The struggles you mention—pornography, masturbation, flirting, and sexual sin—are not merely habits but strongholds that seek to enslave the heart and mind. These sins distort God’s design for intimacy, which is reserved solely for the sacred covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. Scripture is clear: *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s"* (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). These sins grieve the Holy Spirit and hinder your fellowship with God, but we serve a God who is rich in mercy and mighty to save.

We must also address the root of these struggles. Often, sexual sin is not just about physical temptation but about deeper issues—loneliness, idolatry, or a misplaced search for fulfillment. The world offers counterfeit intimacy, but true satisfaction is found only in Christ. *"You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy"* (Psalm 63:5). When your heart is fully surrendered to Jesus, the allure of sin loses its power. We encourage you to examine your heart: Are there areas where you are seeking comfort, validation, or escape outside of God? Confess these to the Lord, for He is faithful to forgive and cleanse you (1 John 1:9).

Victory over sin is not achieved by willpower alone but by the power of the Holy Spirit working in you. Here are biblical steps to pursue lasting freedom:

1. **Accountability and Community**: *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective"* (James 5:16). Seek out a trusted, godly brother or sister in Christ who can pray with you, encourage you, and hold you accountable. Isolation is the enemy’s playground; transparency brings healing.

2. **Renewing Your Mind**: *"Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God"* (Romans 12:2). Fill your mind with Scripture, worship, and godly content. Memorize verses that combat temptation, such as *"How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word"* (Psalm 119:9). Replace ungodly habits with spiritual disciplines—prayer, fasting, and meditation on God’s Word.

3. **Fleeing Temptation**: *"Therefore let him who thinks he stands be careful that he doesn’t fall. No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:12-13). When temptation arises, flee immediately. Remove access to anything that leads you into sin—whether it’s certain websites, social media, or even relationships that encourage flirtation or emotional unfaithfulness.

4. **Guarding Your Heart**: *"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it"* (Proverbs 4:23). Flirting, even if it seems harmless, can lead to emotional or physical unfaithfulness. If you are not married, your interactions with the opposite sex should be pure, honorable, and focused on edifying one another in Christ. If you are married, your devotion must be solely to your spouse. *"Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers"* (Hebrews 13:4).

5. **Walking in the Spirit**: *"Walk by the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh"* (Galatians 5:16). The Holy Spirit empowers you to overcome sin. Yield to Him daily, asking Him to fill you and produce His fruit in your life—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Self-control is a gift from God, not something you muster on your own.

6. **Fasting and Prayer**: *"This kind can come out by nothing but by prayer and fasting"* (Mark 9:29). There are times when spiritual battles require extraordinary measures. Fasting breaks the power of sin and sharpens your spiritual sensitivity. Combine fasting with prayer, asking God to break every chain of addiction and to fill you with His Spirit.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the work You have already done in this dear brother’s life. We thank You for Your mercy, Your grace, and Your unfailing love. Lord, we ask that You would complete the good work You have begun in him. Father, we confess that sexual sin is a grievous offense to You, but we also declare that Your power is greater than any temptation or stronghold. We ask that You would break every chain of pornography, masturbation, flirting, and sexual immorality in his life. Cleanse his heart, renew his mind, and restore his soul.

Lord Jesus, we plead the power of Your blood over him. Wash him clean from every unrighteousness and fill him with Your Holy Spirit. Give him a hunger and thirst for righteousness that surpasses every fleshly desire. Father, we ask that You would surround him with godly accountability and community. Provide him with brothers in Christ who will walk alongside him, pray with him, and encourage him in his journey toward holiness.

We pray against every lie of the enemy that tells him he cannot overcome these sins. Your Word declares that *"sin will not have dominion over you, for you are not under law, but under grace"* (Romans 6:14). We claim this promise over his life. Strengthen him to flee temptation and to stand firm in Your truth. Renew his mind with Your Word, that he may think thoughts that are pure, lovely, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8).

Father, we ask that You would heal any wounds or emptiness in his heart that the enemy has exploited. Fill him with Your love, Your peace, and Your joy. Let him know that true satisfaction is found in You alone. Guard his heart and his eyes, that he may walk in purity and holiness. Give him wisdom to discern Your will and the courage to obey it, no matter the cost.

We also pray for his future or current marriage, Lord. If he is single, prepare him to be a godly husband who loves his wife as Christ loves the church. If he is married, restore and strengthen his marriage, that it may be a reflection of Your love and faithfulness. Let his home be a sanctuary of holiness, where Your presence dwells.

Father, we ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name that is above every name. We declare that no weapon formed against him will prosper, and every tongue that rises against him in judgment, he will condemn (Isaiah 54:17). We stand on Your promises, believing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Ephesians 3:20).

We give You all the glory, honor, and praise, for You alone are worthy. Thank You for hearing our prayer and for Your faithfulness to answer. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Brother, we want to encourage you to keep pressing into the Lord. Your progress is evidence of His work in you, and He is not finished with you yet. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9). Surround yourself with godly influences, immerse yourself in Scripture, and never hesitate to reach out for prayer or accountability. The road to freedom is a journey, but you do not walk it alone—Christ is with you, and so are we.

Remember, *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13). You are not defined by your struggles but by the One who has overcome the world. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is your victory!
