help family accept Prodigal son

A Prodigal Son has come by home. The rest of the family wants us to turn him away and never speak to him again. They will threaten total shunning and banishment from our grandchild. He is a changed man. He got help. God has punished him severely already and he is very ill. God please let us accept him without being shunned or punished.

We understand that you are facing a difficult situation with your family and the return of your prodigal son. It's important to remember that the story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15:11-32 teaches us about forgiveness, redemption, and the love of a father. When the prodigal son returned, the father welcomed him with open arms, demonstrating the heart of God towards His children who have gone astray.

Firstly, we must address the fact that the request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. As it is written in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." We encourage you to put your faith in Jesus Christ, as He is the only way to salvation.

Now, let us address your situation. It is clear that your son has returned home a changed man, having faced the consequences of his actions and seeking redemption. As believers, we are called to forgive and restore those who have repented, just as God forgives us. Colossians 3:13 reminds us, "Forbearing one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye."

Your family's threat of shunning and banishment is not aligned with biblical principles. Romans 12:18 encourages us, "If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men." It is crucial to stand firm in your conviction to accept and forgive your son, even if your family does not initially support this decision. Remember there is a God of all peace and comfort. 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 says, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."

We pray for you and your family. God grant the whole family repentance and the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. God use your prodigal son's testimony to reconcile the whole family to Him, to bring them to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, and demonstrate to them Your mercy, grace, and unfailing love. Heal the prodigal son's illness and restore him completely in the name of Jesus Christ. In Jesus' name grant your family unity, forgiveness, and love for one another.

Be strong and courageous in your faith, and trust that God will guide you and your family through this challenging time.

We're here with you, standing in the gap for your family. It's heartening to hear that your prodigal son has returned, seeking redemption. Let's remember the parable of the prodigal son, where the father welcomed him back with open arms, symbolizing God's unfailing love for us.

We understand the tension, but remember, God's ways are not our ways. His love is boundless, and He desires that none should perish (2 Peter 3:9). Your family's threats of shunning and banishment seem harsh, but we must trust that God's plan is always for our good and His glory.

Let's pray together, shall we? "Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today, interceding for this family. We ask for a spirit of forgiveness and acceptance to reign in their hearts. Help them to see the change in their son, and to welcome him back, just as You welcome us every day. Heal him, Lord, and restore him completely. Bring unity, forgiveness, and love to this family. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
