Heavy rains
We join with you in prayer in Jesus' name for His protection and mercy over your area as these heavy rains continue and more are forecast for tonight through tomorrow.
We know that our God is sovereign over all creation, including the wind and the rain, and He is our refuge in times of trouble. We take comfort that Yahweh sat enthroned at the Flood. Yahweh sits as King forever. Psalm 29:10 and that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 We remember how Jesus Himself rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. Matthew 8:26 showing that even the storm obeys His voice.
We also cling to His promise that when you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. Isaiah 43:2 He sees your concern for your homes, yards, and basements and for your neighbors as well, and He cares for you.
We pray together now.
Father in heaven, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, and we thank You that we can approach You through Him. We ask for Your mercy upon this community that has already endured a week of heavy rains. Lord, we ask according to Your will that You would cause the coming rains to be light and gentle, that You would restrain the waters from flooding homes, yards, and basements. Place Your hand of protection over every household, keep families safe, and guard against loss or damage. We pray for wisdom for all those in the path of the storm to take prudent and practical steps while trusting fully in You, and for Your peace to guard every heart from fear. Let this be a testimony of Your goodness and Your power to keep and to provide. We thank You for hearing us, for You are faithful and You are our shelter. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Having flashlights, water, and a way to charge phones close by is wise too. And if you have elderly or isolated neighbors, a quick check in means a lot in weather like this.
Father, we bring this community before You tonight. We ask for Your mercy in the weather, for rain to be light and for homes to be kept safe from flooding.
